Welcome to the Wanborough Horse & Dog ShowWelcome once again to the Wanborough Spring Horse & Dog Show. We hope our range of classes will encourage you to enter this year. Our schedule constantly evolves to keep it fresh and takes into consideration the feedback we receive. As a result, this year sees an increase in the Working Hunter classes to accommodate more novice horses and riders.
We are always looking for ways to bring more value to our show for our competitors, as well as supporting smaller, less well recognised organisations to help them grow. After all, we pride ourselves on being a large enough show to offer a wide range of classes to interest competitors, whilst retaining a friendly, non-intimidating environment to encourage all levels of rider to want to compete here. We have started by affiliating to The Side Saddle Association and are happy for side saddle riders to compete in all classes. To our delight we were also approached by the Veteran Horse, Pony and Rider Club and will be running our Veteran classes as qualifiers for their Championship.
The Wanborough Show Society is a not for profit organisation, run by a team of volunteers committed and passionate about keeping this part of our local heritage alive. We can only do this with your support and welcome offers of help, as well as interest from future sponsors and advertisers. Drop us a line if you would like to become involved even if you can only spare a couple of hours.

Due to space ONLY ONE SUPPORT VEHICLE PER HORSE BOX will be permitted
in the Horse Box parking area. There is plenty of room in the FREE CAR PARKING
AREA across the road for further vehicles. NO horse/pony is to be left unattended
in the lorry park, including tied to a vehicle or within a horse box or trailer.
Each class will award rosettes to 6th place, plus a keepsake trophy. Many classes also carry a returnable perpetual trophy and some have prizes. We will be awarding a Leading Rider Trophy and rosette to the rider who gains the most points in jumping, showing and dressage classes throughout the day. It may not be possible to announce this on the day, in which case they will be contacted soon after.
Classes marked ‘VHPRC Qualifier” are qualifiers for the 2018 Veteran Horse, Pony & Rider Club Championships being held on 30th September at Leyland Court.
Neither the Landowners, show organisers or helpers accept any liability for any loss, or damage or accident to spectators, competitors or their animals, belongings, vehicles or trailers howsoever caused.
Hard hats to the approved standard must be worn and correctly fastened at all times when mounted.
Misuse of whips or bad language will lead to disqualification.
Winners of perpetual trophies will be required to sign a trophy form on the day and pay a £20
deposit. Deposit will be repaid once the trophy has been returned in good and clean condition.
Every effort will be made to allow competitors to enter as many classes as they wish but it is the competitors’ responsibility to ensure they are able to get to each class they have entered. It will be the judges’ discretion to allow a late competitor to enter the ring. No refund can be given in the event of an earlier class over running.
Advanced entry fees will only be refunded if the event is cancelled. A veterinarian or doctor’s certificate will be required should a horse or rider be unfit to compete.
The show organisers reserve the right to alter any class to suit the conditions of the day including limiting entries in any class if necessary.
Cantering and trotting is only allowed in the designated warm up area. No galloping is allowing anywhere on the show ground.
A horse/ pony may only be ridden once in each class, excepting dressage.
We work on the premise that the judge’s decision is final. Any objections
must be made to the Secretary within 30 minutes of the event,
together with £10 refundable at the discretion of committee.
All competitors take part at their own risk and it is advised that all competitors should have their own third party liability.
