Respectful Behavior System• Brisas’ No Tolerance: No physical aggression, swearing,
destruction of property, defiance
• School Wide PBIS System
– clear and consistent expectations and consequences
– Think time model
– Tickets/Class Dojo in cafeteria
• Clip Chart/Behavior Scale System in agenda
• Classroom tickets
• Consistent procedures and routines in all classes
– Teacher collaboration on shared students
• Emphasis on student success and building confidence
using Lifeskills and Kaliedoeye lessons
Classroom Policies
• Water Bottles– bring sock or place on
paper towel
• Restroom– go as needed with pass but
encouraged to go at snack, recess, lunch
• Snack– healthy snack to eat in the
morning (NO candy, fruit roll ups, etc..)
– Due to allergies we are a NUT FREE GRADE
• No toys or other objects that may distract
Homework
• Reinforces skills, builds responsibility and work
habits, purposeful homework
• Should be able to be done mostly independently
• Focus on daily homework- more like middle school
• Classwork that was not finished in the allotted time
may become additional homework that day.
• Homework Policy-unless otherwise stated it is due
the following day. Missing assignments will be
completed during lunch recess.

• Each homework assignment is written
daily in class agenda for each subject
and posted on 5th Grade website-
www.kyrene.org
• Behavior Scale in agenda each night
• Projects and due dates are logged in
agenda
• Please check and initial each night
• Write any issues, concerns, questions
Report Cards
• Graded on skills your child has achieved
by 5th grade expectations
• Same skills increase in difficulty as year
progresses
• Some skills are introductory, others
mastery
• Standard scale for letter grades
• Grades available online through Parent

• HW is nightly, due the following day, and may include:– reading a chapter (or 2), answering a reading
response question, grammar, vocabulary, spelling
• Tests– Will occur when appropriate within the unit.
• Spelling– Words given on a worksheet every
Wednesday and need to be copied in the agenda. Weekly test on Wednesday over 10 random words from the list.
