Your chance to try Station House

If you like the sound of Station House but would like the chance for your loved one to try it for themselves before making any commitment, talk to us about our trial days or afternoons.

All the members of our care teamreceive regular training to ensurethat they are up-to-date with goodcare practice, including the latesttechniques in supporting people living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.

Residents who are living with dementia can find it hard to communicate what they need and become frustrated and afraid as a result. Developing an in-depth understanding of the things that

are important to them – whatever they may be – helps us connect past experiences with current actions and build an individual relationship with every resident.

Our experienced, friendly team treats every individual with dignity and respect. We make sure residents are given the opportunity to make their own choices about their care and how they spend their time, and we help everyone to stay as active and independent as possible.

Support for the whole family

We understand that having a loved onemove into a care home can be a bigchange for all the family. That’s whywe provide help and advice if you needemotional or practical support or ifyou want to discuss ways of continuingto play a key role in your loved one’sday-to-day care.

We believe in supporting eachresident and their family in any waywe can, especially as their needschange over time.

We always welcome visits from friends and family that are respectful of our residents and their needs, and provide 24/7 telephone access. We are as keen as you to create a happy, fulfilling life for your loved one.

Our priority is to give your loved one the best of care while helping you both to enjoy special moments together – the quality time that you may have lost as their needs have changed.

A designated member of the team works with each new resident, taking time to get to know them and understand their likes and dislikes in order to design a unique care plan that’s suited to their exact needs.

Let us care for you

Our care home features spacious rooms and living areas that are all on one level.

Residents’ rooms are spacious and comfortable. They offer pleasant views of our grounds – a couple of rooms even have doors that open directly onto our lovely gardens.

Each room has a washbasin, stylish furniture, a 24-hour nurse call system, and telephone and TV connections.

We have a hairdressing salon and our own library. We’re also very pet-friendly.

A beautiful outlook

As well as our two beautiful courtyard areas, we have a large garden with lawns, water features, a gazebo, a pergola and seating areas.

We even have room for our own nine-hole mini golf course, which is perfect for a few putts on a warm summer evening.

The home and gardens are fully wheelchair accessible.

Throughout the home you’ll spot lots of little touches designed with your loved one’s comfort, relaxation and entertainment in mind. There are cosy, intimate lounges and sitting areas where they can relax and spend time with you.

All the comfort of home

Activity Based Care is at the heartof everything we do at Station House.Every resident is encouraged to carryon enjoying the hobbies and intereststhey love. Of course, we’re guidedby residents, and wouldn’t dream ofmaking someone do anything theydon’t want to. However, those whodo join in often discover new talentsor just enjoy getting to know otherresidents through the many individual

and group activities laid on by ourresourceful care teams.

Helping out around the home

Although we have planned dailyactivities, we also help residentscontinue doing those everyday thingsthey used to do. It helps to maintaina sense of independence as well as asense of routine.

So if your loved one used to do DIYaround the house, our maintenanceteam are happy to get them involved inhelping to put up a shelf. If your lovedone was a keen gardener there arealways jobs to do outside, or plants tofeed and water inside the home.

Some residents enjoy helping take care of our home pets. Day guests are welcome join in with everything too – they have full access to all of the activities, services and facilities that we offer to residents.

Of course, if there’s an activity that residents want to try that’s not currently on offer, we always try our best to add it to the schedule where possible.

We call it Activity Based Care. It’s simply about helping residents to stay active and independent and continue making decisions for themselves – whether about their care or the activities we do.

Keeping active and having fun

“ Every resident is encouraged to carry on enjoying the hobbies and interests they love”

At Station House care home we make sure that there is always a choice of activities for residents to enjoy every day.

We organise singalongs, games, visits from professional entertainers, pub lunches and visits to local garden centres and parks.

Every Saturday, we have a themed meal with food and drink from a different country. This is an enjoyable way to celebrate the diversity of everyone who lives and works here.

We also have afternoon teas on special occasions such as Easter and the Queen’s birthday.

Our care home is very much a part of the local community. We have very strong links in the local area, including with a primary school close to the home.

Many of the school’s children join in with fairs and celebrations that we have at the home.

We also hold fundraising events and coffee mornings for charities that mean a lot to residents and their loved ones, such as Brain Tumour Research and Dementia UK.

We offer a multi-faith service at the home every Wednesday and we have good links with many places of worship in the local area – so we can always invite representatives in to spend time with residents and day guests.

Our activities co-ordinator plays a key part in getting toknow residents’ interests and hobbies and the jobs they used to do so they can plan a variety of activities and outings to suit all tastes.
