Take an old deck

Remove existing decking boards

Add reinforcement & materials as required. Refer to engineered load tables or have an

engineering report completed

Look at the condition of existing framing materials & footings keeping in mind the

thickness of stone being selected

When extra footing supports are required installation can be quick and easy with no excavation or extra demolition required

Plan for elevation of door sills and thickness of stoneIf there is not enough clearance grates can be recessed

SilcaGrates have two sets of 2 screw holes on one side and 1 set on the other.

Cut the width of the grate on the side with 2 sets at 14 ½”

Add 2x4 cleats on both sides of the joists 1 ½” below the top of the surface of the joists. (See provided engineering for fastening)

• Sides of the deck need to be raised up to contain the sand and stone

• Install two layers of geotextile in an alternating pattern

• Spread a ¼” – ½” of bedding sand• Ensure each stone is seated in the sand• Keep joint lines to a minimum width
