Kinder are very excited about our
upcoming excursion and many are busily
thinking of ways to earn money at home to
go towards the cost.
This week we have worked up to reading
for stamina for 10 minutes. We are so
proud of ourselves.
In English we have been reading ‘Where
the Wild Things Are’ and have created
some great monsters with stories to go with
them. We’ve also written about our
favourite Toys and how they move.
In Maths we have been working on whole
number combinations and using 10’s
frames.
Sadly, Shree will be leaving our school on
Friday. We will miss his smile and happy
personality around our room and our
make project to complete at home AND an
excursion to the Toy Museum at Leura!
We have also worked very hard over the
past week too on our ‘Wonder’ writing for
Education Week. This was a challenging
topic but we discussed our ideas, drafted
our writing, edited it together (to make it
better) and then published it for all to see.
Year 1/2 are quite proud of their finished
products and so am I. Tomorrow we will start
the new Bounce Back program. This week’s
focus is Honesty. More information will come
home about this fabulous program in the
weeks to follow.
Mrs Suttor
What a busy start to the term we’ve had.
Everyone obviously had a relaxing holiday
as they’ve come back to school ready
and raring to go.
We’ve continued to implement Daily 5 into
the classroom learning. The children are
really enjoying the ‘freedom of choice’
whilst still ensuring that they are meeting
the weekly criteria. Reading for Stamina
has developed many important skills
already. The children are excited with the
new words that they can read, the ‘good
choices’ that they are making when
selecting books and being more fluent as
readers. The development of confidence
and independence as readers is our main
focus.
Our theme for Term 3 is Powering On. We
are investigating different types of energy
and how we use them in our day. We are
also incorporating Renewable and Non-
renewable Resources in this theme. The
children are very excited about this,
especially that they will have a design &
R y l s t o n e R e v i e w
school. We wish him and his family
happy times in their new town.
Everyone is looking forward to showing
their work on Open Day next week.

This week we have been focusing on addition in
Mathematics and applying the different strategies
we have learned to solve tricky worded problems. In
science this term we are learning about night and
day. Students will be conducting investigations to
determine what causes night an day and develop
their understanding of the Earth and Space. We
have also been busy writing about what makes us a
‘Wonder’. All the students writing will be on display
for you to read at our open day next Wednesday.
Tomorrow we farewell our friend Haylee who is
moving to Bathurst. We will miss having her in our
class and wish her all the best at her new school.
Miss Burns
Remember the Library is open every morning so
that children don’t have to wait before the bell
in the cold. It is also open nearly every
lunchtime so children have somewhere quiet
and warm to go if they prefer not to be in the
playground.
Our library is stocked with games and activities.
The students have a variety of things to choose
to do. We have also started our ‘FLASHLIGHT
FRIDAYS’ which the children love!

FRIDAY!
Mrs Grant and Ms Burcher are still out most weeks
completing the LMBR training.
Mrs Balfoort completed a Daily 5 course over the school
holidays.
All teachers were in serviced on Monday last week by out
Instructional Leader Mrs Gail Dyer on running Daily 5
literacy program in the Primary classrooms (Daily 3).
Mrs Suttor and Ms Burns gave a training session to teachers
on the Numeracy course they attended at the end of last
term.
The teachers have been learning about the ‘Bounce Back’
resilience program that we will begin teaching this week.
Mrs Grant and Mrs Stokes updated their anaphylaxis
training online.
Gee… We missed going to school for two weeks in
the holidays! (Really?)
So far this term we have grappled with Roman
Numerals, learned about the correct order of
operations, tackled adding and subtracting of
fractions, worked with a partner to problem solve
and continued to refine our knowledge of the 3
times tables! We have also presented our research
projects about cyclones. These were completed in
class, in pairs. We have looked through all of the
books which will be for sale at the Book Fair next
week and have compiled our Wish Lists. We can’t
wait to go shopping! We are in heavy training for the
Year 6 versus Parents T-Ball game next

Book Fair WEDNESDAY, August 2nd.
What a wonderful way to begin Term
3 ...... with our Annual Scholastic Book
Fair. There are so many titles for the
children to choose from once again. All
of the children have had the opportunity
to look at the books on offer and compile
a “Wish List” to take home with them.
(Please be aware that these are only
WISH lists and not a predetermined
shopping list, or list of demand!) If any
parents would like to come to the school
hall and look at the books before hand,
they will be back on display after
assembly tomorrow until the Book Fair
begins. The Book Fair itself will take place
on Wednesday, August 2nd, to co-inside
with our RPS Open Day during Education
Week. Everyone is most welcome to come.
Doors open at 8:30 am.
See you there!
Mrs D’Ilio
SRC SRC are running a ‘Name the Dinosaur’
competition. Guesses are 50c each with no
more than 4 guesses per person. They’ll be
running this on Open Day.
Also they are still looking for flat river rocks
and ‘prehistoric’ plants such as succulents
to complete their garden.

Boy oh boy this winter has been cold, especially in the
mornings. I’m really hoping for some rain too. I don’t
remember having to water the garden this much during
winter in the past.
While growth is still pretty slow in the garden at the
moment, we have still managed to harvest our first basket
of winter goodies this week. Some yummy broccoli and
kale. As the weather warms up there should be broad
beans, spinach, carrots and salad leaves to pick too.
We have recently purchased some more garden beds to
give us the space to grow more delicious fresh food, and
we also now have a small greenhouse to start growing our
own veggies from seed. We are looking forward to putting
them together early in spring, at our working bee.
Helpers in the garden are always very welcome, so please
give me a call if you would like to get involved.
