Why Implement A Box Reuse Program Over Baling or Compacting?
Environmental Benefits
Every ton of re-usable corrugated cartons that are saved for a second life has a direct positive impact on our environment.
Team Duffy’s three (3) R program of Reduce, Recover & Re-use is an excellent method to give back to the environment; whereas the use of a larger Refuse Systems corporation who specializes in solid waste, etc. the corrugated will tend to be compacted & sent to a paper mill.
Environmental benefits of finding a second life for all corrugate waste: Every ton of our recycled boxes save 34 trees, 14,000 gallons of water
and 35% less pollution than manufacturing paper from virgin trees. It also saves 3 cubic yards of landfill space.
While every ton of recovered waste paper only saves approximately 17 trees
Air quality improves with each surviving tree Elimination/Reduction in waste water generated from the end of the
recycling process Every tree saved can filter up to 60 pounds of pollutants from the air
per year
Baling
Baling OCC costs a company an average of $45 per ton due to double handling, compacting, tying of bales, wire costs and energy costs.
Prices fluctuate dramatically over the course of a year making it difficult to budget. In 2009 baled prices were only worth $10 a ton!
Recycling Programs
Customized recycling programs are created by evaluating plant layouts. Recommendations are made based on best way to stack and store cartons depending on space between production lines, available dock doors and many other variables unique to each facility.
Plants within 250 miles of any of our 6 reclamation centers and meet our volume requirements may utilize our drop trailer programs. Depending on the distance we may offer full service recycling.
It’s Not All Trash!
Waste removal regulations change and market opportunities grow. The managing partners of Duffy Box are available to tour facilities to explore additional recycling opportunities. We have been in the recycling industry for over 80 years and have outlets for many materials others deem garbage. Why not take advantage of a FREE waste audit!
Budget
Our box program is a FIXED PRICE, so you can treat this as budgetary income. We do not follow the volatile paper market.
All other commodities fluctuate with current market rates (OCC bales, LDPE, HDPE, PET)
