basics to start life anew in the U.S. Here is the link of items we

son62@gmail.com or call 678/236-6749.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL at NORCROSS CO-OP
As part of our Outreach Ministry at Norcross Co-operative
Ministry, Christ Church will host 3 days of Vacation Bible
School for children of parents who seek NCM services. During
our 2 1/2 hour morning of VBS, we provide a morning snack and
engage the children with crafts, games, and a Bible story.
Another church provides sack lunches for the children to take home with them.
This year our Outreach VBS at NCM will be July 25, 27, and 29, from 9:30
am - Noon. To sign up to volunteer for any of the three mornings of this re-
warding ministry, please contact Mary Halliburton at 770-248-1923, or email
her at mmhallib@comcast.net. This is a wonderful ministry for preteen, teens
and adults who enjoy working with children.
BOOK BAGS FOR OUR CONGREGATION We received 71 names of children needing back packs and school
supplies. All of the names were given out and the bags and
supplies are coming in. If you took a name, please return it to the
church or office by July 27th. The bags will be given out at the
1:00pm service on July 31th. Thank you for your generosity.
THRIFT SHOP — VOLUNTEERS — WE NEED YOU!
Here is your opportunity to get involved with the Thrift
Shop. If you have not had the opportunity to be part of this
wonderful ministry because of scheduling, then here is your
chance. Thursday July 28th from 6:00pm to 8:30pm we will
meet in the Thrift Shop to help with pricing and getting items
ready for the Fall change over. For more information, please
contact our Manager, Ivonne Obelar by e-mail at thriftshop@ccnorcross.org or
call 770/447-1166 x 230. Come by for the full time or just stop by for a short
time. A lite sandwich supper will be provided.
DISCERNMENT MATTERS!
OUTREACH—IDEATION CONVERSATION JULY 24TH
Many of you were here in May when Ceci delivered an inspired
sermon about the findings from the parish-wide discernment. We
learned that, when asked what you want Christ Church to be
known for by non-parishioners in our community, the
overwhelming response was Outreach. What’s more, many of
you have added your name to the list of those interested in
talking more about what this might look like. To that end, The Rev. Jody
Greenwood and vestry member Natalie Leff invite you to be part of the
Ideation Conversations that will be held in the Youth Center on July 24th at
9:15am. Come and be part of the dialog! Our main goal is to hear from you!
We will also let you know about some outreach opportunities already at hand,
and envision others for the future. It is up to us to be the hands and feet of
Christ in the world, loving like Jesus and serving others. We hope you can join
in the conversation!
BUILDING AND GROUNDS PLANNING MEETING JULY 24TH
One of the clearest messages coming from the parish-
wide discernment process was the need to enhance our
curb appeal. We clearly need to upgrade our church
home to make it more inviting to visitors and more
pleasant to share with our church family. To get us
moving on this process, Ted Farmer and Steve Smith
will be hosting a kickoff meeting on July 24th at 9:15am in the Parish Hall. So
whether you have already signed up to participate, or wish you had, we hope to
see you there. We need to capture all your great ideas around church
landscaping, improved signage, kitchen upgrades, and parish hall
enhancements, as well as get organized and start planning to see what we can
do to make Christ Church facilities reflect to the world the beauty of it's
members. We hope you can join us in getting started on this exciting and
important initiative.
EXPAND AND PROMOTE MUSIC PROGRAMS JULY 24 AT 2:30
One of the suggestions from our discernment process was
related to worship at Christ Church, particularly related to
expanding and promoting the music offerings. Richard
Moore and Kerith Lee will be hosting a conversation for
all who signed up for the Worship Project, and ANY who would like to add
their voice to the conversation are welcome! We will meet on Sunday, July
24th at 2:30pm in the Parish Hall to share ideas about music offerings and
options for Children, Youth and Adults. See you there!
GROWING SPIRITUALLY!
SIGN UP FOR EDUCATION FOR MINISTRY CLASSES
FOR THE 2016-2017 TERM
Every baptized person is called to ministry. The
Education for Ministry (EfM) program, an extension
of the School of Theology at the University of the
South, Sewanee, TN, provides people with the educa-
tion to carry out that ministry and the opportunity to discover how to respond
to the call to Christian service. This is an exciting four-year course which
explores the scriptures as well as church history, ethics, and theology. EfM
runs for 34 sessions each year, from September through May and meets on
Monday evenings at 6:30pm in the church office. For more information,
please contact Dianne Olson at 770-851-2472 or e-mail to
dolson42668@gmail.com or Ellen Lewis at 678-546-0844 or e-mail to
elewis3000@yahoo.com. The final date for registration for the 2016/2017
year is August 15. If you have questions about the EfM program or want
registration information, there will be an EfM table in the breezeway before
and after the 10:30 service from July 9th through July 30th. Come see us and
sign up!
ALL ARE WELCOME: EPISCOPAL INQUIRER’S CLASS
This Fall The Rev. Jody Greenwood will be offering an
Inquirer’s class which will allow you to gain a deeper
understanding, or a refresher, on the Episcopal Tradition,
grounded in Scripture, Tradition, and Reason. This class
serves as preparation for Confirmation, Reception, and
Reaffirmation of Faith celebrated at the Cathedral in
December, and all are welcome! The class will be held as three 2-hour
workshops on Saturday mornings this Fall. Specific dates will be provided
soon. If you are interested in participating in these workshops, please contact
Jody at jgreenwood@ccnorcross.org. Thanks!
SUMMER CHURCH FOR CHILDREN
Children’s Chapel is on Summer break, so during the 10:30
worship we invite children to sit up front, on quilts near the
altar, so they can see what’s happening! Busy bags are also
available. Children up to 6 years of age may go to the nursery
if they would prefer, while older kids and youth can help in
worship as readers, ushers, acolytes, or greeters. Please contact The Rev. Jody
Greenwood at jgreenwood@ccnorcross.org if your child is interested in help-
ing. Children’s Chapel will resume on August 14th.

CHRIST CHURCH PLAYERS SUMMER SHOW
SEPTEMBER 9 AND 10, 2016, AT 7:00PM
On September 9 and 10 at 7:00pm, the Christ Church Players will present
Gilbert and Sullivan's uproarious comedy TRIAL BY JURY! This musical
romp chronicles a breach of promise trial in which anything can, and does,
happen. Come see the Defendant and Plaintiff (REAL-LIFE couple Nick and
Melissa Pichetto) duke it out as the Learned Judge (guest baritone James
Marshall) doles out his own peculiar version of justice in this tricky trial. The
cast is rounded out by lovelorn Jurymen, dancing bridesmaids, a bumbling
Usher, and a zealous barrister.
Leading off the evening of courtroom chicanery, MONTY PYTHON will offer
their own version of British jurisprudence. Even DOWNTON ABBEY'S
Dowager Countess and Lady Mary hop across the pond to check out Christ
Church's Brit Night!
Tickets are $10, and can be purchased in the following ways:
1. Fill out an envelope and pop it in the plate.
2. Call or email Beth in the church office. 3. Order ONLINE through the church website at http://www.ccnorcross.org/event/christ-church-players-show/
