Dorset Wildlife Trust is the leading charity dedicated to nature
conservation in Dorset. From small beginnings in 1961 based entirely on
voluntary effort,we now have over 25,000 members, 42 nature reserves,
5 visitor centres and a thriving programme of outreach with
communities. As a business we have grown, with over 55 employees, but
we have never lost our volunteer ethos and rely on the support of
thousands of people.

• Flexible working• We operate under a hybrid working model where appropriate, and encourage
flexible working arrangements where we are able to do so.
• Pay and pension• Our salaries are single point salaries within each Grade, and are regularly
benchmarked.
• We have a pension plan of a 7%, with 5% employer contribution and 2% employee contribution.
• Holidays• Starting holiday entitlement is 24 days per year (pro rata for part time roles)
plus Public Holidays, rising by 1 day per year to a maximum of 29 days.

Our Facilities
In addition to the beautiful nature reserves we care for, Dorset Wildlife Trust has six centreswhich provide a base for office working environments, as well as visitor centre facilities.
Brooklands Farm is the DWT HQ and provides the office base for many roles. The HQ is beside the restored hay-meadow and is a haven for wildflowers, beetles and butterflies.
The Kingcombe Centre is set within the lovely, newly designated Kingcombe and Powerstock National Nature Reserve.
The Urban Wildlife Centre is situated in East Dorset amongst stunning heathland and hosts a multitude of flora and fauna.

A Wilder Dorset
In a bid to tackle the ecological and climate crises, DorsetWildlife Trust has acquired a large area of land near BereRegis. This site, around 170 hectares in total, will showcasesustainable change in land use. It will give Dorset’s wildlifemuch-needed room to spread and regenerate and give thecommunity new space to reconnect with nature. We arelooking for an inspiring individual who can inform, involveand excite the local community about our plans, inparticular our plans to use rewilding over much of thesite.
You will work alongside the Project Manager tocollaborate with the local community to help deliver newwild spaces on their doorstep, create volunteer teams tohelp with our land management and surveying and deliveron site management and estate maintenance. Rewilding ishighly exciting, but often misunderstood and so we arelooking for an individual who can capture this excitementand clearly communicate our plans and how they willbenefit wildlife and the community.
The successful candidate will have a passion for restoringnature and inspiring others with nature and exemplarskills in communicating with people of different ages andbackgrounds. They will be confident and experienced inpractical management and the use of hand tools andleading and creating volunteer teams.

Overall Role
Main Responsibilities
To play a key role in delivering Dorset Wildlife Trust’s exciting new 170ha rewilding project. The project will deliver a
large community-based nature recovery project near Bere Regis land at a landscape-scale that will help tackle the
climate and ecological crises. The postholder will be responsible for ensuring strong community engagement,
developing volunteering opportunities and undertaking, with volunteers where appropriate, site management tasks
and environmental monitoring.
