Wireless Data Acquisition Wireless Data Acquisition System (WiDAS)System (WiDAS)

Abstract:Abstract:This WiDAS is intended to be implemented on Bradley University's SAE Formula Car, a full life-cycle design project undertaken by mechanical engineering students at Bradley University every year. The WiDAS gathers information from an assortment of sensors throughout the race-car to measure velocity, acceleration, engine speed, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and on-car battery voltage. Once this information has been processed by an on-board microcontroller it is sent in real-time to a LCD touch-screen and a wireless transmitter on the vehicle , then transmitted to an off-track laptop. The off-track laptop archives this information through the use of a WinWedge software interface, and provides the user of the off-track laptop with gauges to monitor specific race-car parameters through the use of Excel software.
