COMMUNITY INFORM ATION
…is a celebration of survivorship - an occasion to express hope and our
shared determination to make this breast cancer's last century. You can help finish the fight against breast cancer by raising funds for and walking with American Cancer Society Making
Strides of Fayette - Lexington. Join more than one million people each year who are helping to end breast cancer.
Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walks are the largest network of breast cancer awareness events in the nation, uniting
nearly 300 communities with a shared determination to finish the fight. By signing up, fundraising, and participating in one of
our noncompetitive, three- to five-mile walks, you will help us be there for everyone in every community touched by breast
cancer. You will help those who are currently dealing with a breast cancer diagnosis, those who may face a diagnosis in the
future, and those who may avoid a diagnosis altogether thanks to education and prevention.
And, in case you were wondering, the American Cancer Society does not fund - nor has it ever funded – organizations that
promote abortion or contraceptive counseling (such as Planned Parenthood affiliates or similar organizations).
This year, Ss. Francis and John Catholic Parish is forming a team for this walk. Please consider walking with us or supporting
us with a donation. You can sign-up to participate in the walk OR to make a donation, go to the American Cancer Society
webpage - http://makingstrides.acsevents.org/site/PageServer?pagename=MSABC_CY15_FindAnEvent – and find our team
under the name of Ss. Francis & John Catholic Parish. Or contact our Team Leader, Maggie McGuire at(502) 863-3404,
ext. 104 for more information.
Please consider walking with us or supporting us with a donation. Thank you in advance for your support, and helping us
to finish the fight!

BETHLEHEM WOOD CARVING CHECK US OUT AFTER MASS!
Louie, our friend from the Holy Land, will be at our parish the weekend of October 3-4, after every Mass and you’re encouraged to check out the beautiful olive wood religious items. Christians in Bethlehem have supported their families for many years by selling these beautiful works. Now, they are facing many challenges due to the terrible situation and the lack of pilgrim visiting the Holy Land. These hardships have caused these families to flee,
searching for income to feed their families.
This art work gives Christians in Bethlehem a chance to survive. Just think about this: in 1982, Catholic Christians in the Holy Land made up about 18% of the population. Today, you would be surprised to know that there are only 2% left and their future is very uncertain. You are encouraged to come and take a look at these works. You may find something that interests you or would be a great gift for someone else. Your generosity toward these hard-working Catholics help to protect the Holy Sites and insure a Catholic Presence in the Holy Land for future generations. Cash, checks and credit cards will be accepted during our sale.
