Did you know that the Corona-Norco Family YMCA is helping children and families weather the economic storm? Every day we work side-by-side with our neighbors to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. The Y now operates eight program sites with a continuum of care for children in the Corona-Norco and Jurupa Valley Unified School Districts ages 18 months to high school. We are always looking for support from our community. If you would like more information of how you can help, please contact Lorena Gomez (951) 736-1415 or gomez@ymcacornor.org The Corona-Norco Family YMCA is a 501(c) (3) charitable organization classified by the Internal Revenue Service.

Main Y School age - Summer has gotten off to a great start! We are happy that the weather has been wonderful and we can spend time outside!
This week, we have Electronics day on Monday. We are heading to the bowling lanes for our field trip on Tuesday. The children will try to beat their old scores and make new records! We are also going to speak about career choices and which career/field the children are interested in. We will be reading about careers and will be looking for jobs in the newspaper.
Remember water day is Friday so send a swim suit and don’t forget a towel. Please watch the white board for reminders.
Preschool – Hello July!!! What a fun and busy summer so far! Kids are having a blast spending time outdoors. We are beginning to work on hands on activities and water play, keeping the children pretty busy during the summer months. Only during the summertime we are starting toy day on Friday. This is the ONLY day that toys from home should be brought to school. Thank you for your help with this!
Home Gardens Theme: Career Explosion Week
This week, the children will discuss specific jobs and occupations in their home and community. Discuss the type of job that they would like to do when they get older. Learn to appreciate people that help children grow and learn. Last but not least, learn about appropriate chores to do to help the family. We are working on someone to come out and speak to the children about various careers. Children will have a career day, where they will dress up like the field they want to work in when they get older.
We will also have water races, play soccer, baseball, basketball, and bike races. We will have a Field Trip to Harada.
Teen Center
P A G E 4
The Teens had a really nice week doing Tie Dye shirts, making superhero pots, playing Monopoly, Uno, and Team charades and much more! This week the Teens will have an artistic week. We will start off with Abstract Name Designs where we cut up our names and mix them up on the canvas. We will also create Mosaic Masterpieces along with Recycle Magazines Art Crafts. Also we will create Painted Rocks and we’ll be creating Punk Rock Rocks. To end our fun week we will end our day fresh with a water day.
Come and support our YMCA Teen Center we will be selling yummy, fresh, and delicious popcorn along with sweet and tasty churros. Call the us for more information.
We offer Zumba Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10-11am and 6-7pm. The classes are only $3.00. From week to week the Zumba classes range from classic Latin salsa to today’s modern pop music. We have large and smaller classes to fit your need as well as multiple classes throughout the week. It is a wonderful way to unwind and relax after a long day as well as dancing your way into a better lifestyle.
We also offer Senior Classes $5.00 the class. We have Core Workout with Pilates and Yoga on Thursdays from 9:30-10:30 am. There is also cardio fitness on Mondays from 11-12 noon. We would like to invite all seniors in our community to our classes. This class is perfect for anyone who is just starting off or to those who’ve been doing this for a while.
The Home Gardens Public Library is proud to serve the community with the following free and educational programs! Their toddler story time, commonly known as “Wiggles and Giggles” is a fun bi-weekly event (Wednesday & Fridays) for infants and school aged children. Bilingual story time, “Aventura’s de Lecture” takes place ever Wednesday afternoon at 4pm and children are introduced to the world of literacy and culture, with arts and crafts that follow. All community teens (ages 10 and up) are invited to form part of Anime Club, every Tuesday at 4pm. Home Gardens Library is gearing up for its annual summer reading program, Junto’s Leemos. Our theme this year is Read to the Rhythm, and we're looking forward to collaborating with our local YMCA on some lively activities. Along with our regular events, we have special programming every Thursday from 4-5pm. Our big summer event will be a talent show on July 30 (sign up at the library). For more information, contact the library at 951-279-2148.
Citrus Circle We had a lot of fun on our first week at Citrus Circle. The children enjoyed checking out all the new materials in our program. The hot wheel track, the art projects, and catching butterflies outside were some of the favorite activities. We had a Crazy Hair Day on Tuesday and had some creative hair dos. One girl put a cup on top of her head inside her ponytail to make her stand straight up in the air. It looked cool! Do not miss out on all the fun next week. Monday-dress up as your
favorite character, Tuesday-wear your favorite sports outfit,
Wednesday-wear blue, Thursday-water day and Friday-wear your
favorite PJ’s. We continue exploring sea creatures and their
environment. We will be making sea turtles out of egg cartons, sea
horses using shaving cream and a jelly fishes using an empty water
bottle. We are also going to make a paper maché volcano and make
it erupt.

A note to parent's, if your child comes in very early and you chose to bring your child a snack, please make sure it is a healthy snack. Not cookies and chips. If you bring these types of snacks, you will be asked to take them with you. The YMCA promotes healthy eating. Thank you.

This week, we will have career exploration, the children will have a fun opportunity to express themselves and share with the classroom about their dreams, goals, or plans that they might have to go to college. We will discuss different types of careers for them to
choose and think about what they want to be when they grow up according with their abilities. We will work on activities using the careers of: Fashion designer, Art, Doctor, Dentist, Teacher, Firefighter, and Engineer.
