This kit may be built more than one way. Look over this instruction sheet carefully before you begin building. You may decide to combine parts from the different versions shown, or use parts from other AMT® kits. After you’ve planned your car, follow the assembly instructions and “test fit” the parts without cementing. This will familiarize you with the location of parts. For best results, the various sub-assemblies and components should be painted before any “chrome” parts are attached. For example: When attaching “non chrome” engine parts, it is best to cement them in place and paint as a unit.AMT® kits are molded from the finest high-impact styrene plastic. Use only paint and cement made for styrene. Trim excess plastic from parts before joining. When attaching “chrome” or painted parts, scrape plating or paint away where parts are to be joined. Cement all parts unless otherwise indicated by the instructions. Use just enough cement to join parts and be careful not to smear cement on exposed surfaces. Built according to the instructions on this sheet, you should have no trouble assembling your kit. Just FOLLOW THE NUMBERS as the instruc-tions are numbered in order of assembly. NOTE: (C) indicates “chrome” parts.

Apply putty to joints where you have attached the customizing parts to your model car using a putty applicator or putty knife. Scrape off any excess putty. You should allow it to dry overnight. Follow the directions below for a well-finished model.
Bevel the edges of parts to be joined together. This will allow the body to be “feathered” onto each part and prevent a sharp line from appearing when finished. Use polystyrene cement for attaching styling sections. Use cement sparingly and allow to dry thoroughly before applying putty.
Apply more than enough putty to fill the gap between parts and allow enough to feather out onto each part. There will be a certain amount of shrinkage during the drying process and an excessive amount of putty will help eliminate refilling and patching when finishing. Use an applicator to apply and smooth the putty. Don’t try to get a perfect job when applying the putty and wait until thoroughly dry before carving, sanding or painting.
For preliminary work, files or coarse sandpaper is helpful. Always use a sanding stick to avoid dips and irregularities in the surface. Sand puttied areas to a smooth surface, filling air holes and cracks. Let dry and sand again with fine sandpaper. Spray primer on areas that have been sanded and imperfections will become visible. Fill bad spots and re-sand if neces-sary, checking your work with primer. Repeat until you have a achieved a flawless surface.
Make sure the car is thoroughly dry and free from dust and lint. You are now ready to apply the finishing touch. Follow the directions on the spray can and you will be well rewarded with a professional looking finished model.
