Hello everyone, I’m John Lawyer and I am going to be taking over as the newsletter editor. I will admit I am terrible with names, so if I get your name wrong in the newsletter I apologize beforehand. If I get other facts wrong, I apologize. If you send me an email or hand me a note on any corrections, I will be glad to get it into the next newsletter. September 2020 Meeting Minutes Recorded by Tom Carlyle, Secretary
The September 2020 club meeting was held on September 2, 2020 at the Flying Field Clubhouse. President Rege Hall called the meeting to order at 7:30 PM. Around 18 club members were in attendance.

New Members/Visitors
The club welcomed Ian Lawson back into the club.
Old Business
The annual National Model Aviation Day event was held on Saturday, August 8th. The club members donated over $3600 to the Hoosier Veterans Assistance Foundation during the event.
The club’s annual Warbird Fly In will be held on Saturday, October 17.
Rege said he has some planes for raffle prizes. Lunch arrangements are still under consideration.
The Avon “Spring” Fling, which was postponed in May due to COVID-19 pandemic concerns, has been rescheduled for Sunday, September 27.
UPDATE to this item: The Avon Parks Department informed us that this event has been cancelled due to concerns over the number of people who might attend the entire event, causing the Parks Department to be liable for having too many people at an event during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Agenda items from the prior meetings not discussed during the August meeting:
Rege proposed holding a “strange shape” aircraft contest. Must be electric/foam and can demonstrate them at the NMAD.
There was some field maintenance discussed during the March meeting…fence posts are coming out of the ground, and we also need to consider putting insulation up in the ceiling of the clubhouse.
We are still considering a small geo tex runway cover, but we need to wait to see what is going to happen with the runway drainage repairs.
The town of Danville will be contacted about getting water from the fire hydrant for watering the runway.
New Business
The October Club meeting will start at 7:00 p.m. Please make note of this time change.
The Morristown RC Club is having an electric fly-in on October 3. Listings of other events nearby are on our website.
The December Club meeting is typically our Christmas Dinner event, with our end of year raffle. We have the Methodist Church meeting room reserved for this event, however, due to COVID-19 restrictions, the church cannot allow us to hold our meeting due to restrictions on the number of attendees. Therefore, the December Club meeting will be a normal meeting. The Board of Directors will consider other options for our annual celebration, but it will likely be delayed into 2021. More discussions on this topic to follow.
The Club will hold it’s annual January 1st Fly In, as planned.
With colder weather approaching, making it uncomfortable to hold our monthly meetings outside, John Louden is looking into possibly holding our meetings via ZOOM. More information will be shared
with the membership if this is the method we choose to use.

Field reminders: - If you should ever have to call 911 (or order pizza), our address is 178 E. Twin Bridges Rd - If you are the last one at the field, be sure the clubhouse door is locked and the front gate is locked. - Fly safe, the AMA safety rules are posted by the door of the clubhouse. - If flying on 72 mhz, be sure to use the frequency board. - There are fire extinguishers located just inside the clubhouse door. - If you see trash or cans lying around, please pick it up. Let’s all keep our field beautiful. - Try not to overflow gas, glow fuel or smoke fluid on the grass, causes bare sports. - Be cognizant of others. - Watch for full scale planes. Avoid any interaction. - Please put aluminum cans in the bins that are located in the clubhouse and by the trash cans, we are recycling the cans to help pay for gas for the mowers. The Indianapolis Southside RC Club will hold its annual Toys for Tots Fly In on August 29.
Scott Black presented John Lawyer with plaque for taking 2nd place in the AMA Soaring NATS, 2-m class.
John Derringer talked about the pattern contest he participated in about 2 weeks prior to the meeting. John took 1st place in his category.
John Louden announced he has several RC items for sale. If you’re interested in what he has, please contact John directly.
