“Unfinished Sympathy” has a low hertz thundering “rumble” during its introduction, a sonic feature that is evident during playback with the CXA60 and yet unlikely to be picked up by similarly priced competitors.

George Ezra has appeared on the Cambridge Audio website as a guest artist. The arrangement on “Budapest” is extremely well paced with elegant, forward vocals and instrumentation to demonstrate the CXA60’s luxurious soundstage.

POWERFUL SPEAKER OUTPUTThe CXA60 has huge power reserves and can be paired with a wide variety of speakers. It is able to drive low to high impedance drivers through both speaker outputs, 60 w into 8Ω and 90w into 4Ω. You can also enjoy two separate zones of musical output - such as your front room and kitchen - with two sets of speaker outputs and a dedicated subwoofer output.

AUDIOPHILE-GRADE TOROIDAL TRANSFORMERIn 1968, Cambridge Audio were the first audio company to use a toroidal transformer in an integrated amplifier - the now iconic P40. Toroidal means doughnut shaped and it’s this shape that today makes toroidal transformers an audio industry standard - mainly due to exceptionally low levels of electro-magnetic interference when compared to traditional transformer designs. The central placement of the CXA60’s transformer ensures that components and circuitry can be placed out of the way of any stray interference therefore avoiding damaging hum and distortion.

ALPS FILM TYPE VOLUME CONTROLCorrect stereo reproduction and sonic accuracy across a variety of volumes can be an issue for lesser amplifiers. We’ve used an Alps film type volume pot which delivers accurate volume control and superb low level channel balance so the volume is always perfectly controlled across both left and right channels at whatever level you’re enjoying.

24-BIT WOLFSON DACA Digital Analogue Converter (or DAC for short) has a very important job in the signal chain. It reads the zeroes and ones from a digital signal and turns it into an analogue waveform, ready to be amplified to drive the speakers

The premium quality Wolfson WM8740 DAC built in to the CXA60 can handle digital audio files up to 24/192kHz and was chosen for the CX Series having proved itself at the heart of our award-winning DAC Magic range. Whether it’s music from TV or files stored on a phone or tablet, the WM8740 brings a significant upgrade to sound quality over most built-in DACs.

APTX BLUETOOTH COMPATIBLEFor users who want convenient wireless connection to their system there’s the optional BT100 Bluetooth dongle. Either plug it directly into the USB port on your CXA60 or use the included extension cable.

Adding Bluetooth capability to your system makes good sense from a convenience point of view. Offering a complete connection solution for all of your media and bypassing the often poor Digital Analogue Converters used in phones and laptops, it also allows you complete control from the comfort of your armchair.

The BT100 connects using aptX Bluetooth when available, of-fering CD quality playback. If your transmitting device doesn’t offer aptX Bluetooth support then the BT100 will automatically step down to the Standard Bluetooth bandwidth.

MULTIPLE DIGITAL CONNECTIONSThe two TOSLINK optical and one SP/DIF Coax connectors mean you can connect any digital entertainment device to your CXA60. Instantly upgrade sound from your TV, blu-ray player, games console or CD transport for sound quality up to studio master level.

Designing the CXA60 was a challenge that was accepted with open arms by our engineers. We wanted an amp that sounded more musical and energetic than anything we’ve made before. They beavered away for months and after some particularly late nights they eventually nailed it. To achieve this they used some unique engineering techniques, some very premium components, and some great ears for detail.

In addition to it’s four RCA analogue inputs, the CXA60 was designed to work in perfect harmony with digital sources from the outset. The result is that any digital music soars to new heights, reveals new depths and can be enjoyed like never before.

FLOATING BRUSHED FINISH CHASSISOn it’s own the CXA60 makes quite a statement with it’s floating effect chassis. Stack it up with other components in the CX family and it becomes the centrepiece of a truly elegant hi-fi solution. Not only does the CXA60 look good, the sleek design encompasses a low resonance chassis that also enhances sonic performance.

CLEAR CONNECTIONSWho else has struggled to read an input label while crouching over a piece of Hi-Fi equipment? As a clever touch, the rear connectors on all CX Series Hi-Fi components are labelled upside down as well as the correct way up.
