An appeal to our alumni for building fund:

60 year old central hall to become a state-of-the-art auditoriumDear alumnus / alumna,

Came into existence in 1951, our college celebrates its diamond jubilee this

year. It was started as a non-ro!itable "enture to cater the educational needs o! theyoung generations o! #hoothu$udi, articularly those !rom disad"antaged

bac$grounds. #his "isionary !er"or is enshrined in our motto %&o"e, 'nowledge and

(irtue). *ixty years ha"e assed. +hat was began as an intermediate college with

just 1 teachers and 19 students has now grown into titanic roortions, almost a

mini uni"ersity, o!!ering as many as 5 courses, both and 0, ro!essional and

"ocational, con"entional and hi-tech. ! course, the journey has not been easy. It has

been excetionally di!!icult at times. 2t such times, generous hilanthroists

esecially our alumni cane to rescue. In !act, the contributions by our alumni ha"e

made an indelible mar$ in the history o! our college. 2gain, our college aeals to its

alumni !or contributions to reno"ate the sixty-year-old Central 3all into a state-o!-

the-art auditorium.

#he Central 3all was one o! the !irst buildings to be constructed in our college remise along with the main bloc$ in 1951. It was inaugurated by 4r. 0.

C. 2lexander I2*, then the sub-collector o! #hoothu$udi. 3a"ing a stadium-li$e seating arrangement, the Central 3all can accommodate 66 ersons. 4any an

academic or cultural meeting has ta$en lace here. 2ssociation meetings, seminars, wor$shos, guest lectures and cultural e"ents are some cases in oint. #he

classic examle is the sil"er jubilee celebrations that too$ lace in this historical lace. 3a"ing become a ostgraduate and research centre, the college utili7es

the Central 3all !or "arious academic acti"ities. 2t this juncture, it was !elt by all that the Central 3all need to be reno"ated. 2nd the management o! ourcollege has decided to modi!y it into a state-o!-the-art auditorium with modern !acilities and technologies. 3igh-tech &2C rojector, audio system, mosaic

!looring and luxurious seating arrangement are some o! the roosed modi!ications. #he construction o! such a state-o!-the art auditorium will be a romising

!actor to !urther imro"e the academic standards o! this sixty year old educational institution.
