An earthquake happens when the tectonic plates rub together. When the plates rub together It causes the ground to shake.

On 12th January 2010 there was an earthquake in Haiti. It was reported that between 217,000 and 230,000 people died.

On 27th February 2010 there was an earthquake in Chile. This earthquake caused a Tsunami and even Australia was warned about rough sea because of the earthquake.
