Be welcomed by a delightfully decorated grand Christmas Tree
situated in the Welcome Lobby, indulge in one of the many
festive menus created using the finest British produce and fall
asleep to the twinkling of winter lights as the city unfolds
beneath you.

GRAND CHRISTMAS TREE BY SHANGHAI TANG
A charming fusion of Asian heritage and Chinese chic merges
this year in the form of the hotel’s grand Christmas Tree.
Designed by the pioneering fashion house and curator of
modern Asian aesthetics, Shanghai Tang, the seven-metre tree
incorporates the heritage of Shangri-La together with its own
signature interpretation of Chinese culture and craftsmanship.
As of 17th November, this exclusive creation will sit
marvellously within the Welcome Lobby on the ground floor
and showcase a celebratory and vibrant display.

SHANGHAI TANG ORNAMENTS
44
Two varieties of custom-made brass ornaments adorn the tree
referencing the auspicious elements of the hulu and double fish.
Both highlight the goodwill and fortune
expressed over a festive period.
'8'
8 is the most auspicious number in Chinese culture. The
pronunciation is very similar to ‘prosper’.
The hulu is an ancient fruit representing fortune and
protection. Shaped as a figure of eight, the hollowed-out fruit
was originally used to carry precious items, as its magical
powers were thought to protect the bearer from evil spirits.
The Fish
In China, the fish is a symbol for good fortune. The double fish
is a symbol of love, harmony and abundance; it is a metaphor
for a harmonised state associated with
a blissful, romantic union.
Each ornament is draped with a luxurious printed star ribbon in
pops of red, blue and yellow, its vibrancy reflecting Shanghai
Tang’s wit, creativity and imagination.

THROUGHOUT THE FESTIVE SEASON
Presenting a modern European menu with an Asian twist, the hotel’s
signature restaurant and lounge on level 35 is the ideal location to
celebrate the season with two inviting festive set menus.
Highlights include a wild mushroom risotto infused with perigord
truffle and a classic roasted Norfolk turkey breast served with all the
traditional trimmings.

Specialising in signature Shangri-La cakes, macaroons, pastries, classic
savouries, salads and sandwiches to eat-in and take-away, the hotel’s artisan
deli and cake shop is situated on the ground floor of The Shard.
After a day spent festive shopping or sightseeing, revive with Christmas classics
such as mulled wine, mince pies and Christmas stollen.

destination bar on level 52 offers guests a
sophisticated venue from which to choose from
a wide range of locally sourced spirits whilst
overlooking London's stunning skyline.
Specially created to celebrate the season and
garnished with gold leaves, Winter Flip is a
modern evolution of the classic Port Flip. This
festive concoction blends a smoky Johnnie
Walker Black Label with Italian Barolo Chinato
and a homemade cream to create a rich
and satisfying drink.
