People need water to grow crops and to operate factories, drinking and

recreation. Animal also depend on it to survive. But, nowadays, our river mostly

contaminated that may harm to our environment. Water pollution occurs when

pollutants are discharged directly or indirectly into water bodies without adequate

treatment to remove harmful compounds. Water pollution may give effect plants and

organisms living. In almost all cases the effect is damaging not only to individual

species and populations, but also to the natural biological communities.

Water pollution can be defined as the contamination of water bodies such as

lakes, rivers, oceans, aquifers and groundwater. Water pollution occurs when

pollutants are discharged directly or indirectly into water bodies without adequate

treatment to remove harmful compounds.

There are many reasons lead to occur of water pollution. First, the disposal of

sewage and wastewater into marine environments is a significant factor in water

pollution. Specifically, untreated sewage water can harm marine ecosystems and

cause diseases. In developing countries, the main concern in access to sanitary

water, that is unavailable to people. Conversely, in the developed world the major

problem is people flushing chemicals and pharmaceuticals that contaminate the

water.

Second, industrial waste also has detrimental effects on water quality. This

has been a problem since the industrial revolution and continues today with many

companies using water to carry pollutants away from their factories. Common

chemicals include asbestos, lead, and mercury, which harm marine ecosystems and

contaminate drinking water. In addition, radioactive waste is also an important factor

in water pollution.

Another major source of water contamination is oil pollution. This can occur in

a variety of ways, such as spills, shipping, run-off, and dumps. Oil spills are

considered the most detrimental because such a large amount is concentrated in one

place. This creates a localized problem that is extremely damaging to the

surrounding area.

Some of effects on water pollution is it may affect to our ecosystem that is kills

life that inhabits water-based ecosystems. Dead fish, birds, dolphins, and many

other animals often wind up on beaches, killed by pollutants in their habitat. In

addition, pollution disrupts the natural food chain as well. Pollutants such as lead and

cadmium are eaten by tiny animals. Later, these animals are consumed by fish and

shellfish, and the food chain continues to be disrupted at all higher levels.

Besides, chemical that release into river also dangerous to human. It may

cause to food poisonous that may harm human health. Chemical that contains like

carbon dioxide, sulphur dioxide and other are very dangerous to environment. This

is because some other people only depend on aquatic life in the river like fish to

sustain their life. For example, if oil is spilled on the water, the effects on the

ecosystem and the components are harmful.

If I were some of responsible people, I will find the ways to save our water

been polluted. As we know, water is very important to make our routine life run

smoothly. First, I will recommend people to use less water. This might sound

simplistic, but decreasing your water consumption is one of the keys to minimizing

water pollution. By reducing the amount of water you use, you will reduce the amount

of water that flows into sewage treatment systems. You can decrease your water

consumption by taking a shower instead of a bath, letting it mellow if it is yellow such

as do not flush the toilet every time you urinate and turning the water off while you

are brushing your teeth,.

Second, use environmentally-friendly household products. This means we do

not use household products that contain chemicals. Instead, use green products, like

biodegradable soap and all-natural toiletries. To clean your house, stop using bleach

and chemical cleaners and use vinegar instead.

Besides, do not litter is very important manner for us to practice it to make our

river or water clean to use. Avoid littering in rivers, lakes, and oceans. If you are

really feeling motivated, gather a group of friends and family members to clean up

litter on the beach and near other bodies of water. Make sure that you dispose of the

litter in an appropriate waste disposal area.

In conclusion, I think that water pollution is, without a doubt, a huge problem in

today’s society. If we do not take action now this could lead to bad news for everyone

in many ways. Our drinking water will be affected and our aquatic organism will be

affected, which will eventually be a risk for humans in many ways. I think that more

people should be concerned with this topic and how they greatly affect our everyday

lives. People should stop taking what they have for granted and try to help stop this

enormous problem before it is too late.
