LINCOLN is an amazing fusion of ancient and modern. With over 2000 years of history and a buzzing contemporary culture, whatever your interests may be, you can’t help but be inspired.

At the heart of the city sits our iconic Cathedral, neighbouring Castle and plenty more to explore - and yet you’ll always be within walking distance of our independent boutiques, coffee shops, restaurants & bars.

Leading you from the uphill Cathedral Quarter to the city below is the aptly named Steep Hill; peppered with vintage stores and galleries, there’s little wonder it was named ‘Britain’s Great Street’ in 2012.

From Lincoln’s historic roots to our state of the art facilities, great shopping, vibrant nightlife and fantastic events, this city is a great place to live & learn.

And with continued investment and booming creative & technical industries, we’re only getting better.

Welcome to Lincoln.

ANCIENT&MODERN

With everything you could wish for to live the perfect city lifestyle, yet just a short journey to beautiful countryside & coastline – life in Lincoln ticks all the boxes.

The city is small enough to get to know well and it’s easy to get around on foot. Housing in Lincoln is affordable - options range from the chic Cathedral Quarter & Uphill area to the lively High Street, with some great villages nearby if you want to venture out of town.

Within the city there are plenty of green spaces, parks, gardens, waterways & cycle routes, plus we’re surrounded by Lincolnshire countryside and a stone’s throw from the coast, so there are loads of choices for great days out.

Nottingham, Leicester, Hull, Peterborough & Cambridge are all within easy reach, there’s a direct train to London daily and plenty more connections at Newark - just 20 minutes away. But with so much going on in Lincoln, you might find you never want to leave.

CITY &COUNTRY

Zoe Dawes, The Quirky Traveller

“Lincoln is full of quirky delights around every corner. I loved the graceful majesty of the Cathedral, impressive Roman remains, quaint old shops, great food and friendly pubs, contemporary atmosphere and youthful outlook.”

If shopping, dining out and taking in an event or two isn’t enough to keep you busy, there are lots of attractions and things to do in and around Lincoln.Having visited the Cathedral and Castle, history hunters will also love the city’s museums - The Collection and the Museum of Lincolnshire Life are full of fascinating relics from Lincolnshire’s past.

And art lovers will enjoy the Usher Gallery as well as Lincoln’s other smaller galleries.

From Easter until October you can enjoy city sightseeing tours on Tour Lincoln, the open top bus; guided walking tours of the Cathedral Quarter, boat trips on the Brayford Belle and year round ‘Ghost Walks’ around the Cathedral Quarter.

If you like being active, there are some great footpaths, cycle ways & bridle ways in and around the city. The Water Rail Way starts at the Brayford Waterfront and joins Lincoln to Boston – with artwork along the route.

Just outside the city there is so much to see and do. There are historic houses, Europe’s largest antique centre, farm parks and more. You’re in easy distance from the Lincolnshire Wolds – pretty market towns and villages in Lincolnshire’s hilliest area. If you fancy some sea air, the bustling seaside resorts of Cleethorpes, Skegness & Mablethorpe are within easy distance.

Make Lincoln yours.

THINGS TO DO

“The moment I arrived, I knew it would be the right place for me. It was in a safe, scenic area that I felt could become my home. I will never regret coming to Lincoln.”

The DoubleTree by Hilton offers fabulous accommodation & stunning city views, or for something a little more historic, The Old Palace has rooms in a chapel with views over the Cathedral & vineyard. For fantastic food, try The Lincoln Hotel’s Green Room Restaurant, or the Castle Hotel for food with a Castle view at Reform. The Holiday Inn Express is well located for easy

access to the University of Lincoln – and Bishop Grosseteste University even has a B&B on Site, Longdales House.

If you enjoy self-catering, choices range from historic houses in the Cathedral Quarter to holiday lodges just outside town – or for something really different, try a night under canvas at Lincoln Yurts. There are many cosy and convenient bed and breakfasts across the city and beyond.

Accommodation in Lincoln can cater to any needs from access to dietary requirements; just ask when you make your booking. Busy periods include Graduation and large events like our popular Christmas Market, so book early to avoid disappointment!
