Meeting minimum purchase requirements
Base license minimums:• 20 x Finance
• 20 x Supply Chain Management
• 20 x Retail
• 5 x Talent
No combinations are allowed,
and thus each app must meet
the minimum purchase
requirements
separately
Licenses may be mixed to achieve minimums
For example: 10 x Finance + 10 x Retail
Operations – Device SLs can be used to satisfy the minimums with a ratio
of 2.5 to 1
For example: 50 Operations – Device SLs = 20 SLs equivalent for
Finance, Supply Chain Management or Retail
For example: 13 Operations – Device SLs = 5 SLs equivalent for Talent

Using the Team Members license
Users can:
• Read Dynamics 365 data across all apps
• Participate in a specific set of scenarios for the ERP apps
Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations Scenarios
Supply Chain Management
Finance
Retail
Talent
Scenarios you are permitted to use Team Members license to customize
• To record any type of time
• To record any type of expenses
• Manage personal information
• Manage direct employee and candidate activities for hiring, onboarding, and human resources
• Create requisitions
• Create or edit the items related to the following capabilities: quality control, service orders and
departmental budgets
• Approval of time, expense, invoices
A Team Members license is a named user subscription, designed for
users who are not tied to a particular function, but who require basic
Dynamics 365 functionality, priced at $8 per user per month
A Team Members license does not provide access to custom applications, and a Power Apps license or a
full Dynamics 365 license is then required, dependent on the scenario

Choosing the right licenses: internal users

January 2020
Choosing the right licenses: external users
No licenses are required for external users
Who ARE External Users?
• End customers of the organization
• Off-site vendors not in an employee-like
relationship with the organization
Who ARE NOT External Users?
Contractors, vendors or agents who:
• Provide business processes on the customer’s behalf
• Use Microsoft Dynamics 365 to manage any portions of
their business

Step-up licenses
Step-up licenses enable an EA customer to move from a lower license to a higher one at any time
Step-up licenses are not required in CSP since a new Subscription is started for the higher license,
and the Subscription for the lower license is reduced or suspended.
