Main image: the main image is unusual as it goes against the conventions of a single person on the music magazine. This is effective as each model stands out due to their own individual pose. The image is an important part of a magazine as it attracts the audience and gives them an insight to what the magazine includes. Each model’s clothing is in the style of the magazine for example they are dressed in a hip hop style. In addition, the colours they are wearing doesn’t distract us from the bold red title of the magazine, this is important. The white/grey background makes the image more noticeable and stand out further.

The masthead: the masthead is an important feature to the magazine. The magazine is called ‘XXL’ this title is short and catchy making it easy to remember and learn. In this cover the letter ‘L’ is covered by a model and a small part is also covered by a model wearing the same colours as the title. Because the title has its symbolic colour and font it is not a problem for it to be partially covered, we still identify it.

The cover lines: this magazine goes against conventions of a magazine as it only has one cover line, this is interesting as usually the cover lines are the main attraction to why a reader would want to read on. The language used for the cover line is informal this would attract the more younger audience such as teenagers. By keeping the cover line short it makes us want to find out for ourselves what is inside, what is this magazine really about?

The colour scheme that runs throughout the cover is red, white, grey and black. This is also emphasises the model’s clothing who stands over the title.
