Base Tracks

• Base tracks (master shot) is used to reinforce the structure of the music video.

• These are shots which are used more than once within a music video and they are usually made using jump cuts and so fourth. They're used to keep the structure and entertaining within the video also due to how short music videos usually are.

Camera

• The use of camera within music videos is a very key aspect. Within camera work comes various shots such as close ups and mid shots the main of use of these three shots is to show off the artist/bang as they literally are the main attraction.

• Shots such as long shots could be used to show off the artist/band with the addition of tilts and tracks. Wide shots are used within music videos mainly to bring in the location with the artist.

Editing

• The use of editing goes hand in hand with camera. Editing is mainly used within music videos to hit beats to give a sharp and edgy feel to it, these include jump cuts. Other use of edits include obvious edits such as graphical ones, slow motion and speeding up.

• The use of these keeps the viewer entertained as if the artist/band was just standing on the spot it would be quite  boring. Another piece of editing could be the use of green screens - this is a green screen which is placed at the back and allows footage to played on it.
