    Analysis of British Gangster

The use of lighting is very dark and dingy

influenced by low lighting. Due to this it

creates suspense and adds to the identity of

    the stereotypical characteristics of a

gangsters lively hood. With the added

influence of being set in dark alley ways alsoadds to the cold and creepy conventions

used in British Gangster. this effect has

influenced me as it helps me think about

how muck Mise en scene creates a deeper

    meaning to gangster film.

Props that are commonly seen with some

type of jewel or an expensive object, this

influences the idea of thieving and also

greed from the gangsters, of them

enjoying the idea of being powerful and

    wealthy.

    Analysis of MOB

Props used in MOB gangster films illustrate the violence andhighly tempered emotions within the gangster genre. The

common use of guns and drugs and money and gambling all

add up to create a stereotypical version of a gangster towards

the audience, it adds to their common characteristics of bad

boys and criminals within the public eye.

This scene shows a man asking for forgiveness

from his boss. Due to kissing his leaders hand

suggests the leaders power and control over his

gang members. This suggests that MOB

gangster films like to initiate to the audience the

power of the characters identities for instanceemphasising who has the higher position.

    The scenes also concentrate on

    violence to highlight their

    stereotype. This influences the

idea of how gangsters think and

    react to certain behaviour.

    The costume used

    in MOB is very

    casual yet smart

    to show the use of

    money and hard

    personality.

    Settings in low levelled

    lighting to create tension

    and violence (i.e. Bars)

    Silhouetted effect to

    create suspense and

    mystery. (enigma)

    Analysis of Crime/Thriller

Costume of long coatscomplimented with a suit

    and tie, instead of this

    influencing wealth it

    highlights their

    professionalism and

    business appearance.

    Lighting is very dark and

dingy to create suspenseand also to add a creepy

sense to add to the thriller

    aspect subgenre.

    Including gory images

    such as death/ murders

    and bags of drugs all

    influences the idea of a

    stereotypical role of a

    gangster as a criminal.

Gangsters idea of a cop is in a casual suit and

tend to commonly smoke; this tends to

influence the idea of a hard cop who smokes toinitiate them thinking about the crime.
