Analysis of other artist’s websites

Since the coursework involves us doing two ancillary tasks to go with the music video, I chose to do the digipak and the artist website.

As I chose to do the artist website, I thought I would do some more research into similar artists websites to ensure that I have most of the same conventions as a typical artists website.

A typical artist website would involve:

A homepage

A blog

Music

Videos

Tour

Merchandise Store

This is Icona Pop’s Website…

This is Icona Pop’s homepage where they have included one of their most recent music videos on there to entice the audience who visit the website.

On the homepage is Icona Pop’s signature logo which is notable everywhere.

This is the video that Icona Pop are promoting on the homepage. It’s a recent one.

To keep up with tour dates, music videos and blogs, Icona Pop give you the option to sign up to their website to keep up.

This part of the website is Icona Pop’s blog where they update their everyday lives through linking Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.

This is a convention that I will follow for my artist website where I’ll link Tove Lo’s Instagram and Twitter.

Again, Icona Pop’s logo is on every tab to distinguish who they are which is what I will include my website

Here is a picture of Icona Pop posing which is conventional as it is their website and I will include this on my website.

In terms of the music aspect of their website, Icona Pop have included their debut singles including 'All Night' and 'Girlfriend' where viewers are able to listen to their music.

As well as this, they have included their EP album 'Iconic'

which includes all the whole tracklist. For

my website, I will just include Tove's major songs as she is just starting out as an

artist.

On the video section of the website, Icona

Pop have included their latest singles to attract the viewers on

the websites; the song here is 'Just Another Night'.

One of their more popular singles 'All Night' is also up on

the website to familiarize the

audience on who they are. For my website, I'm going to include

Tove's videos to make it more conventional by having the artist

videos on there.

The website includes a 'live' tab where you

can see their upcoming tour dates

and an option to purchase tickets and

RSVP the event.

As Icona Pop are fairly popular, they have

tour dates all over the world including

countries such as the US, Colombia and

Chile. This shows the kind of extended fan base that they have.

However for my website I'm only

going to offer tour dates for the US as

Tove Lo is slowly gaining more and more popularity

Icona Pop have a direct link to their merchandise store

where you can purchase clothing, music and other goodies. For my

website I will showcase photos of themes and objects associated with our artist's branding.

Icona Pop offer bundles where you are able to buy t-shirts along with

music.

This is the front cover of their album which they are offering to go with their t-shirt.

The bundle is available for £19.99.

What can we infer from this?From analysing Tove Lo and Icona Pop’s website, it’s quite evident that they have quite similar and overlapping features. These are features that I will most definitely incorporate into my own website. My website features will now include: A Homepage Tours Biography Music Gallery
