Analysis on ST Site
• You can use your private trends for analysis using the ‘my’ level of privacy.– follow up an idea, monitor over time.
• You can do analysis across your organisation using the ‘our’ level or privacy.– looking for organisational collaboration.
Analysis on ST site
• If you’re brave, you can dive into all the trends on the ST site, using the ‘all’ level of privacy.– Use for broad exploration of a topic to
see what’s out there. – Tags are already clustered into keywords
to help out.
Insights
• Individuals enter an individual insight, and add their interpretation of why it’s important.– Can cluster insights into a report on a
topic.
• Analysis at this level focused on strengthening understanding of insight.

Trends
• Clusters of like insights – pattern/theme.
• Need to be written up to be of real value.– Insights linked to a trend – provide
evidence/cases to support trend relevance
– Identifies what’s changing and why it matters
– Starts to answer the ‘so what’ question
• Broad range of tools at this level.
Trend Reports
• Cluster of individual trends into like group– eg food security, chimeras
• Analysis of trends at this level identifies the critical ones in terms of implications for your organisation– Delphi– Morphological Analysis– Modelling
Forum
• For discussion around particular trends, implications etc.
• May not be popular with everyone, but allows discussion and collaboration across Australia/globally.
• Use if it suits (or if your IT allows!).
