The Brief

In June 2014, Universal AV was approached by Paul Anderson of ITProfessional Services to provide an AV specification for one of his clients.Universal AV and ITPS had successfully worked on projects before, such asSunderland Software Centre.

A loose AV brief had been prepared to provide Anaplan, Inc. with an AVsystem for their new offices at The Bonding Warehouse, York. Theywanted a series of display screens to use in their Boardroom, meetingrooms and open collaboration areas that would provide their staff withthe facility to have in-house and client based meetings built around theUC (unified communications) platforms they were already using, namelySkype and Fuze. Universal AV met with representatives from Anaplan, Inc.to finalise the exact AV requirements and provide a practical workingsolution that could combat; several IT platforms, a mixture of PC, MACand portable devices as well as work wirelessly and be flexible enough toincorporate BYOD (Bring Your Own Device).

Planning and Installation

The installation was completedmid July 2014 at Anaplan, Inc.new offices in the heart of York.From start to finish the projectwas run across a very tightdeadline. Universal AV had towork alongside the builders andfitters to ensure that the newoffices were ready and open forbusiness by the end of July, ittook three engineers 4 days tocomplete the installation.

The main challenge was to installAV equipment in to what wasessentially still a building site.Due to the tight schedule, avariety of trades were workingsimultaneously and in closeproximity. The BondingWarehouse is a listed 19th-century building next toSkeldergate Bridge in the heart ofthe city. Great care had to betaken during the installation tobe sensitive to the fabric andnature of the building.

A series of display screens wereprovided for all areas. Each screenwas the same to keep conformityand ease of use, differing only insize dependent on the location.At each screen a hard wire HDMIport was provided along with theWePresent wireless presentationgateway; allowing for the wirelessconnection of PC, Android andIOS devices.
