Report on Anastomosis-2016
On behalf of the Organizing committee, it is my pleasant duty to present to you a
brief report about Anastomosis 2016, First inter-medical college Sports
tournament organized by Hamdard institute of Medical Sciences and Research,
Jamia Hamdard
Academic learning and sports always complement each other; in fact they resemble
the two sides of the same coin. The qualities of leadership, sharing, team spirit and
tolerance are learnt from the sports and these are the very important qualities which
should be present in a good doctor.
We at HIMSR believe that sports should be a part of medical education curriculum.
The MCI also encouraged this as evident from the vision 2015 in which a two month
foundation course is included with yoga and sports as an integrated part.
Anastomosis was a three day event from 25th to 27th April 2016 conducted with the
aim of providing the students an opportunity to showcase their skills and develop a
competitive spirit. This was also to provide them a platform for interaction with the
students and teachers of other medical colleges. It was originally planned in February
but due to some unforeseen circumstances it had to be postponed.
It was on the suggestion of the students themselves that the name of Anastomosis
was finalized, the meaning of which is interconnection between channels thus aptly
represent the spirit behind this event.
