    From the Management

The month of July has brought two most

important events in the history of SSMM.

This will be a day to remember by all

members for the great step taken to face

the new challenges of the 21st century.

Many will wonder what the two historical

    events are.

Firstly on 1st of July 2017, Anbu Illam

became the first Hindu foster home in

Malaysia to launch ISO 9001:2015. The

question will be asked what’s so great

about ISO. Well in the Management circle,

any company which gets an ISO

    certification is considered to have

attained a world standard in operating

their organization. In this case it’s our

Anbu Illam which has been in existing for

about 31 years. I can proudly say that our

is the first Hindu home in Malaysia. There

are many homes existing but they do not

call themselves as a home for Hindus.

Hence we created history by only

admitting Hindu children in our homes

since 1986. Why only Hindu children?

That is because it is the uncared Hindu

children and their parents due to poverty

and family problems are converted Into

Christianity and it has been left

    unattended by most Hindu organizations.

Today we are facing conversions from the

Muslim community as well. If given a

choice many would prefer Islam rather

than Christianity due to the free benefits

    offered to them.

Why ISO is important? By having ISO we

have SOP’’s for all work carried out in the

Home. Secondly no individual can make

decisions or do things according to their

own rules and regulations. Every stage in

decision making in the home either for

the children or for the staff will have to

strictly adhere to the guidelines of the

Home as stipulated in the ISO. Next, every

staff has a strict code of conduct and

behavior to be observed and upheld at all

times. The home has been divided into

various departments and each staff has

been assigned to take charge of the

sections as per the SOP. Most important

there are various policies laid down for

each department which is the guidelines

for their daily administration of the home.

This can prevent any problems or

    misunderstanding between the staff and

the Management, or between the public

and the home or between the parents and

the children admitted in the home. The

ISO is also a recognition where the public,

    government agencies, corporate

companies will have a better trust and

confidence in terms of the transparency

and the financial management of the

home. Another important benefit is that

ISO will bring respect and dignity to our

home globally, because right now we have

    University students from many foreign

countries who come to serve as a

volunteer for community and social work,

as part of their credit hours required to

    complete their studies. Therefore

students who come for voluntary work

also feel proud that they are in a world

class foster home, in a third world

country. Even volunteers who wish to

serve the Home will have to follow the ISO

guidelines. It is expected that the full

certification will be granted in October

2017, once the officers from SRIM come

for auditing at the home. I would like to

thank MrKalai Selvam the Home Admin.

    Executive with the support and

cooperation of the staff who have worked

so hard to make a dream come true.

Another milestone in the Mandram is the

establishment of the Semenyih Branch on

15th of July 2017.This idea was mooted

after realizing that ROS has made changes

to the rules and Mandram has to take

steps to adopt to the new rules of ROS. In

    future only Branch representatives will

take part in the Delegates conference.

Hence I appeal to all members please try

and open Branches so that we can expand

the Mandram to serve the society and

also to spread the teachings of Saivisim.

    Attending monthly Sivaratheri pooja and

Guru pooja will not help to spread the

teachings of Saivism. The public must be

made aware of Saivism by reaching out to

them. The Branch opening was attended

by about 50 people and people are slowly

coming to visit the centre. Right now,

religious classes has been started and next

month religious classes for kids and

youths will be started. I appeal to

    Mandram members who are staying

    around Kajang, Semenyih, Broga, Bernang,

and Mantin to visit our center and maybe

can join us to serve the community. We

hope and pray the new Branch will

    prosper and serve the community.

Keep yourself free for the following

    activities/ events organized by SSMM.

Puja, Ritualistic Worship, is an effective

sadhana (Spiritual practice) to purify our

flowers and ringing the bell, vocal actions

like chanting mantras and singing hymns

and mental actions like feeling the

    GURU THIRUVADY POOJA

    Thursday, 10-8-2017

    7.30pm

    At SSMM HQ, Bangsar

    Vishalakshi Temple,

    Varanasi

Vishalakshi Temple is dedicated to the Vishalakshi Maa (means wide eyed Devi) or the Goddess Parvati, the consort of the Lord Shiva. Vishalakshi Temple is also

known as the Vishalakshi Gauri Temple. It is a most famous Hindu temple located at the Meer Ghat on the bank of the holy River Gange in the Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India. The Vishalakshi Temple is considered as a Shakti Pitha, the most holy temples devoted to the Hindu Divine Mother, Adi Shakti.

    History of the Vishalakshi Temple

It is considered that the earrings or eyes of the Mata Sati have fallen in the Varanasi at this sacred spot. Kajali Tij, the most important Hindu festival for the Indian women, is celebrated at the Vishalakshi Temple very happily. This festival is held at the third day of the Hindu month of Bhadrapada (August) during fortnight.

Sati was the daughter of the Prajapati Daksha and She got married to the Lord Shiva against Her father wishes. Once, Prajapati Daksha had organized a great yagya but he did not call his daughter and his son in law. Sati was very sorrow from Her father’s such behavior. She reached there but got insulted from Her father as he ignored the Sati. She could not bear insult of his husband (Lord Shiva) and She had jumped into the fire of yagya and committed suicide. She died but Her dead body did not burn. Lord Shiva became angry and had taken His Virabhadra Rupa. He cut the head of Daksha but finally He forgave him by reviving his life again. The heartbroken Lord Shiva had wandered in the universe by taking the Sati’s corpse. Finally, Lord Vishnu dissected the corpse of the Sati into 52 parts by His Chakra. Each of the body part became Shakti Pitha. At the place where body piece had fallen on the earth had changed into the temple. Lord Shiva had created 52 Bhairava for each Shakti Pitha as a

guardian to secure the Shakti Pitha. It is considered that Her eyes or earrings had fallen in the Varanasi that’s why the temple in Varanasi called as the Vishalakshi Temple.

Lord Shiva carrying the body of Sati

There are six points as a temple in the Varanasi which symbolizes Shastanga (six-fold) yoga. These are the Vishwanath Temple, the Vishalakshi Temple, the holy River Gange, the Kala Bhairava Temple, the Dhudiraj Temple (this temple is devoted to the Lord Ganesha) and the Dandapani temple (dedicated to Lord Shiva).

Religious Significance of the Vishalakshi Temple

Devotees take bathe in the holy water of the Gange just before offering worship to the Vishalakshi Maa. The devotees believe that offering puja, Jal, chanting songs to the goddess is highly profitable as Goddess provide success and wealth. Unmarried girls worship the Goddess Vishalakshi to find their groom, childless mother for getting a child and unfortunate people for their bright fortune.

Devotees celebrate Navaratri at this temple in the month of October as well as celebrate the triumph of the Goddess

Durga over the buffalo demon (Mahishasura). They celebrate other Navaratri in the fortnight of the Chaitra (March). At each nine days they worship Navadurga (nine Durgas).

According to the Puranas, Vishalakshi Manikarnika or Vishalakshi Manikarni is one of the 52 Shakti Peethas. It is considered that the karna kundala (known as the earring) of the Sati fallen here that’s why known as the Manikarni or Manikarnika. In the Puranas, it is clearly mentioned that the Varanasi city will exist even after the Pralaya. Vishalakshi Temple is a powerful Shakti Peeth and is considered to bless to devotees a lot.

  • SAIVITE CREEDS

Lord Siva is God, whose Absolute Being, Parasiva, transcends time, form

    and space.

God, whose immanent nature of love, Parashakti, is the substratum,

primal substance or pure consciousness flowing through all form as

    energy, existence, knowledge and bliss.

Lord Siva is God, whose immanent nature is the Primal Soul, Supreme

Mahadeva, Paramesvara, author of Vedas and Agamas, the creator,

preserver and destroyer of all that exists.

Three worlds: the gross plane, where souls take on physical bodies; the

subtle plane, where souls take on astral bodies; and the causal plane,

where souls exist in their self-effulgent form.

The law of karma that one must reap the effects of all actions he has

caused and that each soul continues to reincarnate until all karmas are

resolved and moksha, liberation, is attained.

Religion is the harmonious working together of the three worlds and

that this harmony can be created through temple worship, wherein the

beings of all three worlds can communicate.

The Panchakshara mantra, the five sacred syllables “Namasivaya,” as

Saivism’s foremost and essential mantra. The secret of Namasivaya is to

hear it from the right lips at the right time.
