Wednesday, April 27th, Protest Status Hearing - ABRA Case 091021 – Capitol Market’s Substantial

Class “A” Change –The Board Dismissed the Application because the Applicant filed to appear at the

Protest Status Hearing. The Applicant may file a Request for Reinstatement with the Board within ten

(10) days from the date of the Order of Dismissal.

Thursday, April 28th, The Historic Preservation Review Board (HPRB) Members honored ANC5E’s

Resolution by approving the nomination of the Glenwood Cemetery’s Historic Landmark Application

#15-24 into the listing of the property of the DC Inventory of Historic sites to the National Register of

Historic Places.

offer two sessions of Renters 101 training during May. The Renters 101 covers the rights and

MedStar Washington Hospital Center and the DC Department of Parks and Recreation invite YOU

MedStar Washington Hospital Center’s Community Relations Department presents a free monthly

Walk with a DOC (Richard Benson, MD and Patricia Davidson, MD) every 1st Saturday starting at 9AM

at the National Arboretum, 3501 New York Avenue, NE, aimed at making strides to help your heart and

improving your general health to live longer! While you walk at your own pace, you’ll have the

opportunity to have questions answered by MedStar WHC physicians. This program is for everyone

interested in taking steps for a healthier lifestyle. Just put on a pair of comfortable shoes and meet

As part of A FitDC’s effort to encourage residents to stay fit, Mayor Bowser has directed DPR to waive

resident fees at the Fitness Centers starting on January 1. Previously, the fitness centers required a paid

membership for access, but for 2016, those resident fees will be waived. DPR Fitness Centers offer a

variety of exercise equipment, including elliptical, stationary bikes, treadmills, free weights, universal

weight machines and more! Visit DPR’s website to find a fitness center near you.

Hands on Hearts CPR Training: Currently, FEMS is offering training every other Thursday from

6:30pm to 7pm of each month at the 5th District MPD Headquarters. The link to register for those

Private Security Camera Program used as Part of a Safer, Stronger DC Initiative - Contact: Jordan

[email protected]. Mayor Bowser, along with the Director of the Office of Victim Services

and Justice Grants Michelle M Garcia, officially launched the Private Security Camera Incentive

Program. The program will provide rebates for the purchase, installation, and registration of a security

camera system on the exterior of a building owned or leased by a resident, business, nonprofit, or

religious institution.

The installation of private security cameras in the city is another step to deter crime and assist police

during investigations, said Mayor Bowser. This innovative rebate program helps equip residents, small

businesses, nonprofits and religious institutions with the tools they need to help prevent crime and

address.

AVOID A SANITATION TICKET:

Regular Trash Collection: Place trash and recycle containers out for collection no earlier than 6:30 PM

the night before - no later than 6 AM the morning of collection day. Residents are required to remove

trash and recycle containers from public space (the alley) by 8 PM on your collection day.

Bulk Trash Collection: Call 311 to set up an appointment before placing bulk trash out (7 items) for

collection. Place bulk trash out no earlier than 6:30PM the day before and no later than 6 AM on

collection day. Place them where the trash and recycle are collected.

Without appointment: Take bulk items to the Fort Totten Transfer Station, 4900 John F. McCormack

Drive NE. Other City Services include abandoned autos, alley cleaning, illegal dumping, parking

enforcement, potholes, trees, & street lights. The rep will provide a tracking # of your request.
