Daily Life

People in ancient Egypt valued family life. In lower class families the mother raise the children. The wealthy families had slaves and servants that took care of the children. The children were expected to take care of their Grandparents.

Hieroglyphs

Egyptian hieroglyphs were a new writing system that combined shapes and alphabet elements. Egyptians used cursive hieroglyphs for religious literature on papyrus and wood.

Old Kingdom Clothes

Women in Old Kingdom would usually wear a simple sheath dress with wide shoulder straps. they would also wear jewelry.

Men wore a short kilt which was pleated and belted, they also wore a neck lace as an accessory.

Women in the Middle Kingdom class wore a simple sheath dress with no accessories.

Men wore a middle calf kilt with a large apron. They made it so they maintained their triangular shape.

New Kingdom ClothingWomen typically wore an elaborate gown, and lots of jewelry. The even wore wigs! Wow, didn't people in George Washington's time wear wigs? They also usually wear hair ornaments.

Men typically wore an elaborate pleated garment, jewelry. And like a the women they also wore wigs. They would also wear sandals that had curled toes, a fad in that era.

Some food that the Egyptians used are usually used in our daily life, they used onions which were a natural antibiotic, honey as a n immunity booster, willow leaves as a spouse of aspirin, pig teeth to settle upset stomachs, and whole mice to cure coughs.
