Dear Readers

Revelation TV prides itself on producing as much live programming as it is possible to do so – except

for a few weeks in August. The only way that the television station can keep going throughout the year with its small team, is to give all the studio

staff their holidays at the same time. If staff holidays were

spread throughout the year, there would never be enough staff available to produce the programmes!

But that does not mean there is poorer quality of programmes shown on Revelation TV

during August. Rather, the reverse. We ensure there are very good new programmes to show during the month, in addition to the pre-recording of many of

the popular programmes.

There are three new documentaries that I am especially eager to watch. They are the story of

John Bunyan the author of Pilgrim’s Progress, John Newton who wrote many wonderful hymns

including his most famous ‘Amazing Grace’, and David Brainerd, who is not so well known in the

UK, but during his short life of 29 years, 5 months, and 19 days, became one of American’s most

influential missionaries.

Whilst the studio will be closed for a few weeks, the office remains open throughout the month, and

staff love to receive your phone calls, letters and emails during office hours.

You might not see as much of us on the screens as normal but you all remain very much in our hearts.

The inspiring life story of John Bunyan comes alive in this new docudrama. Bunyan was put in Bedford county jail for preaching the gospel during a time of great religious persecution. While in prison he wrote The Pilgrim’s Progress – one of the most famous and influential literary works in English history. Since its first publication in 1678, it has never been out of print and continues to be popular today with new audiences. Watch as the story of this bold evangelist unfolds, from his personal struggles to triumphs. Discover more about his Christian literary influence and legacy. Journey through his life in historical locations with historians and powerful drama re-enactments.

David Brainerd was an American missionary to the Native Americans who had a particularly fruitful ministry among the Delaware Indians of New Jersey. During his short life he was beset by many difficulties. As a result, his biography has become a source of inspiration and encouragement to many Christians.

Richard Wurmbrand was a Jewish Christian minister. He wit-nessed and survived the cruelty of Nazi Germany. After World War II he faced the cruelty of communist Russia. He wanted to show them the love of Christ. He distributed a million Gospels among the Russian troops. But preaching the Word of God and refusing to bow down to communist leaders landed him in solitary confinment.

Fourteen years in communist prison could not break his faith. You will be amazed at this testimony of the Jewish pastor who became a prisoner, leading fellow prisoners and prison guards to Christ. His story quickly spread around the world, and he became known as “the voice of the underground church.” Join Gordon and Lorna to find out more on The Persecuted Church.

What a wonderful time I had with our lovely viewers and new friends on the Summer tour of Israel and Jordan. As you can see from the few photos we can squeeze into this edition of the R Times, it was quite spectacular. Old traditional sights and many new ones this time around. I have posted a hundred or so photos on my Facebook so have a look through the photos as there are too many to include in the R Times. I plan to produce the videos I took in the coming weeks and months as these take a long time to edit and produce. Every week during Church Without Walls on a Sunday morning, we show and pray for all the names in the ‘prodigal bowl’ That’s the name we give to a glass bowl we put on display whilst we are presenting Church Without Walls. The bowl contains many hundreds of names that viewers have shared

with us over the years.

Every piece of paper in the bowl represents a name, a person who someone loves, and God loves. They may have left home and never returned. Many have left their heavenly Father and we have no knowledge that they have reconnected with Him. Some are - just lost. Every week we call them home!

As I carry the bowl and put it in position on a Sunday my prayer is ‘bring them home Lord, bring them home’. The wonderful thing is that from time to time on a Sunday morning, we receive an email, or on my desk I find a letter, and it tells me that prayers have been answered, and children have been in contact, that grandparents have been able to see grandchildren, and that after years of silence and estrangement, a phone call has been received

and contact renewed.

We will not stop praying for those who have wandered away from the faith and from their family.

When on Church Without Walls, we invite all the viewers – our congregation - to pray for the prodigals whose names are in the bowl, some

of the words we say together are

Revelation International Centre

The vision is coming to fruition. The imprint that God put into our hearts sever-al years ago for a new purpose built studio and centre for Revelation Television is

happening before our eyes.

The stages we have gone through of vision, plans, finding a suitable site, planning permission, regulation approval, foundations, outer walls and internal divisions

have all happened.

Every week we see additional work done – windows going in, cabling taking place, lift installed, plastering of walls, air-conditioning, sound installation, and so the list goes on. The closer we draw to completion, the more decisions that need to be made. The pressure grows. Thank God for professionals who guide us through every stage.

We stand back amazed at viewer support for the project which has enabled finances to be provided. When the project started, the one stipulation of the trustees was that it must be built with no debt. As I write this article, we are appealing for funds for our third and final million and are already over half way to that total. The builders are going slower than anticipated – which from a financial point of view is a good thing. It now looks like it will be October, or maybe even November before the work is completed on the building. This gives us more time to raise the final £470,000.

Besides finances, our urgent need is for prayer – for wisdom, for decision making, for safety of the workmen, that the building will be greatly used of God from the

moment it opens.
