† Call to Worship Leader: Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised! People: We come to be still, calm our spirits, and renew our souls. Leader: Come, rest in the Lord who heals and restores us. People: God is near to all, so we will call upon our Lord, Leader: who brings renewal and revives our spirits ALL: We open our lives to God’s abiding presence to heal our spirits, renew our hope and empower us for service. Thanks be to God who dwells within us all! † Hymn #408 There’s a Sweet, Sweet Spirit SWEET, SWEET SPIRIT Prayer of Confession (Unison) Lord, we confess that we delight and disappoint you. We are inclined to be stubborn, believing we are powerful. There is an emptiness in our souls, places where we are tender, battered, and bruised. We try to heal ourselves, but the remedies seldom work. Help us focus our lives, to make more room for the Spirit. By the Spirit give us strength to live as your beloved children, who bring glory and honor to you. [Silence] Assurance of Pardon

  • † Sharing of the Peace (Please share the peace of Christ with one another from your space.)

† Congregational Response #582 GLORY TO GOD

Glory to God, whose goodness shines on me, and to the Son, whose grace has pardoned me, and to the Spirit, whose love has set me free.

As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be. Amen. (1x)

Prayers of the People The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts,

  • as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen † Affirmation of Faith THE SECOND HELVETIC CONFESSION 5.187

What It Means to Be Baptized Now to be baptized in the name of Christ is to be enrolled, entered, and received into the covenant and family, and so into the inheritance of the sons of God; yes, and in this life to be called after the name of God; that is to say, to be called a son of God; to be cleansed also from the filthiness of sins, and to be granted the manifold grace of God, in order to lead a new and innocent life. Baptism, therefore, calls to mind and renews the great favor God has shown to the race of mortal men. For inwardly we are regenerated, purified, and renewed by God through the Holy Spirit. † Closing Hymn #475 Come Thou Font of Every Blessing NETTLETON

    † Charge and Benediction

† Postlude O God, Thou Faithful God Bach/Thompson

† Please stand, as you are able.
