W E B 2. 0 and more… What is Web 2.0? Web 2.0 is the movement away from the static, unchanging pages you see on the web to a sharing and collaborative nature. These webpages are designed to allow the users to create, interact, share, collaborate, and communicate globally. This became the second generation of the Internet, one in which the dynamics of the Internet changed and the users of the web began to have control, rather than just the creators. Is there a Web 3.0? Yes, the development of the third generation is underway. This is where the 2.0 tools are used to data mine and create knowledge globally that was never known before. Now, we will have a semantic web which is where the web/machines begin to understand what users want and need and grow and change with those needs. This generation of the web is still being developed today and will continue for many years to come.

    Ever heard of the webbing program

    Inspiration? Now it is online for

    free and is just as powerful as the

    program you are used to. However,

    now it adds the collaborative

    nature that we all need in the

    classroom.

    ooVoo is a powerful tool like Skype

    where you can connect with

    friends. The benefit of this tool is

    that you can do things

    automatically without having to get

    the add-ins that Skype offers. Video

    chat with up to six people at a time.

    PhotoSynth-

    Create 360 degree photos by using

    this tool to stitch several photos

    together. Must have Microsoft

    SilverLight for this tool to function

    correctly.

    version available online.

    wonderful to use with students for

    Wordle is a word cloud builder. You

    can create wonderful works of

    literary art by brainstorming and

    Writeboard-

    WriteBoard is a collaborative

    writing space where students,

    parents, and the community can

    write together. This gives people

    the ability to continue writing

    together wherever they are.
