May | 2015 This month’s cruise-in was really nice. The weather was in the high 70’s and it was a beautiful day. The parking lot filled up pretty fast. Had two new members sign up and had some members re-new their membership. Sold 14 of the small tattoos I bought. I think I have finally finished with the thank you cards for all our sponsors, helpers, and members that did so much to help us get through another Spring Fling. I just got in another check from Aiken Regional for their support of $500.00. I have paid the rent through the rest of the year, and there are a few things we need to get for the club. We will go over all that at our club meeting. At our last club meeting we voted to donate $500.00 to the Salvation Army to help feed the people in our Community. Paul Volz who is also a member of our club is the Salvation Army’s Shelter Manager. He cried out to the community to help because they were going to have to close down for 2 days every week until the Shelter received more donations of food. Our members, who made my heart swell about 2 sizes bigger voted to donate the money to buy food. After the outcry for help our Aiken Community came together as we always do and filled up the shelves. I have not taken Paul shopping yet, we are going to wait until the food goes down a little bit and then we will go shopping for the food. We are going to plan our yearly picnic coming up soon. With the passing of Jim Fuller my heart is just not where it needs to be right now. We always had our picnics there and I am sure going to miss our good times at his mancave. I am not sure if we would want to have it at The Pit because it is going to be so hot. I guess this is another item we will discuss at the meeting. Hope you all had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend, and thanks so much to all that served or is serving to protect our Nation! I brought my new GRABBER Orange Mustang to its first cruise-in! Keep on rollin’!! This month’s cruise-in was really nice.

As you all know the Make a Wish show is this coming Saturday. Our club has taken four straight years of the Best ClubParticipation awards, and I would like to make it number five this year. Once again Vic and I will be at Home Depotaround 8:00 am and leave out about 8:45 to cruise in as a club. As always I will bring the tent so don’t forget your chairs.Speaking of tents, as you know we had some damage from the wind at this year’s Spring Fling. I am looking into what iswrong with them or if they need new parts. We may have to buy a new canopy for one of the larger ones. If any membersees any canopy’s that is 10 x 10 on sale please let me know.

We are going to need some help at this coming up cruise-in, Randy will be out of town and as you all know he sells our50/50 tickets. On top of all that, the doctors have finally found out why I am so tired all the time and why my feet andknees are killing me after each cruise-in. I have what is called Venous Veins, the arteries carry the blood down my legs, but the veins are not taking the blood back up to the heart. The only way to correct this is with surgery. It will bescheduled within the next few weeks. So after all this time, looks like I may not have needed the two surgeries that I hadon my feet, it was my veins the whole time. I guess you can say I don’t have a leg to stand on, he he he. The pain isworse as the day progresses so these late cruise-ins have really taken a toll on me. As the Beatles say, “I need a little helpfrom my friends”. Keep the wind in your face and the sun on your back!

What is a muscle car? There are many different definitions of what qualifies as a muscle car. The broadest definition is any car with a large and powerful engine and a beefed up suspension. Upgraded interiors, fancy paint schemes and nicer wheels and tires are also usually part of the package. Using this definition, huge cars like the 1970 Impala and even compacts like the 1964 Chevy Nova made the list. There is even room for pony cars like the Camaro and Mustang. The mighty Corvette qualifies as well.

Purists narrow that definition considerable and only include midsized cars as muscle cars. These cars include the Chevrolet Chevelle, the Dodge Charger, Plymouth Road Runner and the classic Pontiac GTO. Other performance oriented car categories include: pony cars and American sports cars. Pony cars include the Ford Mustang, Chevrolet Camaro and Dodge Challenger. American sports cars include the Chevrolet Corvette and the Dodge Viper.

Below is a list of the American performance cars broken down by category and years manufactured. Note that we used the “Muscle Cars” label for both the full sized, compact and, of course, midsized cars. For this list we have expanded the strictest definition a little. We have also included a list of pony cars and sport cars. Taken together, this lists represents the best performance oriented cars ever produce by American manufactures.
