not have the required level of credits (120 at level 5) to access the degree
programme.

Mentoring & Facilitation of Learning module
This module is offered at THREE different study levels
It is imperative that you enrol for the correct level you wish to undertake as you will not
be able to transfer between the levels once your application form has been received and
processed at the university. Regardless of level, all students are taught together to
encourage dialogue and sharing of best practice.
The Non Credit Bearing version
This means you undertake the module with the intention of only completing the practice
document (OAR) to be eligible for entry to the Mentor register and do not wish to gain
any academic credits towards a BSc degree or MSc degree award. You MUST have the
authorisation of your sponsor to be eligible to enrol at this level. It is not an easy option!
Students wishing to undertake this module will only need to attend the first 3 sessions of
any Mentoring group that they apply for from the timetable and not day 4. The third day
will be the pathway specific day which focuses upon assessment documentation and
processes for each professional pathway. The code for this module will be MCDSH0MFL
followed by the group code for example 0s1BR
The Level 6 credit version
This means you undertake the module with the intention of completing both the practice
document and the assignment. On successful completion of both elements you will be
eligible for entry to the Mentor register and 20 credits towards your degree studies.
Failure to pass either element on resubmission attempt will result in receiving a fail
overall for the module.
Students wishing to undertake this module will need to attend all four sessions of any
Mentoring group that they apply for from the timetable. The third day will be the
pathway specific day which focuses upon assessment documentation and processes for
each professional pathway. The code for this module will be MCDSH3MFL followed by the
group code for example 3s1BR.
The Level 7 credit version
This means you undertake the module with the intention of completing both the practice
document and the assignment. On successful completion of both elements you will be
eligible for entry to the Mentor register and 20 credits towards your MSc degree studies.
The code for this module will be MCDSH4MFL followed by the
group code for example 4s1BR.
11
Pathway Specific Days
It is vital that you attend the correct group for your pathway specific
teaching. To ensure you attend the right session please note the following:
All Adult Nurses: will be taught in the group they are allocated to.
For other pathways please see the table below which gives the dates of the pathway specific session for the other professions. You MUST attend the pathway specific session in order to complete the module. If this date clashes with another scheduled taught session you must attend the pathway specific day and complete the academic directed study on Blackboard for the session missed.
