committee chair.

The 2015 Bridge and Board: Lou Hartman, George Young, PC Bill Quinlan, VC Jason Merkel, Commodore Geoff Boynton, RC Reggie Beckius, Jerry Zens and PC Chris Greiner.

Past Commodores who attended the ball stood still for the annual photo. Moments later, an off-color quip by Bill Quinlan cracked up the crowd. See the results and more photos from the ball here.

Did you know that boat club photos can be found on the club's flickr site? Check them out here.

For the third year running, more than 50 members turned out mid-winter for a night of Feather Bowling at the Cadieux Café. Following dinner, eight teams of bowlers competed under nautical names cleverly crafted by Nancy Zens, who hosted the event along with husband, Jerry, and Liz Natter. Check out additional photos here.

The survey says. . .You love your club, you really do.

We learned that and more from the 59 members who participated in the Grosse Pointe Boat Club’s first online survey in January. The survey was designed to query members about their preferences for boat club events.

Results from the survey, which was created by Julie Ann Merkel and Sheila Tomkowiak, will be used by the Bridge and Board in planning activities and club improvements. Members provided some creative ideas for new events and asked for a better mix of events including more ad-hoc, simpler parties.

Here are the key findings at a glance; a larger view is here.

GPBC Florida meeting

PC Phil Allor, Jim Hart, PC John Smith, PC Chuck Witzke, PC Corky Boyd, Sheri Allor, Sandi Witzke, Julie Boyd and Eunice Smith gathered on March 3 at the Boyds’ house in Sanibel, Florida, for a bit of GPBC camaraderie. Note the shorts and big smiles: High temperatures that day were 36 degrees in Detroit and a toasty 87 in Sanibel.
