Office Newsletter

Summer 2020

We hope this newsletter finds you all healthy and well. We wanted to update you on the current sta-

tus of our office and meetings. As of June 1st our office will be operating on an appointment only

basis. We will be operating with 50% office staff capacity and will be allowed to have limited meet-

ings. There will be no in person club meetings or activities without prior arrangements and approval

from the agents. If you wish to have a meeting you will need to contact the office, speak with an

agent, complete the required paperwork and guidelines and then submit for approval. We are still

utilizing our outside file cabinet for soil samples, plant samples, insects, etc. Each program area

has a designated drawer where samples and paperwork can be left. Our office phone (502-839-

7271) will allow you to leave messages that will be checked daily.

Should you need to come inside the office you will just need to call and someone can make ar-

rangements to meet you at the door. It is recommended that proper PPE be worn if you should

have to enter the building. Please stop at the table and we will conduct business from there. Please

follow the signage displayed to show you the pattern of entry/exit. If you have felt sick or have had

a fever in the last 24 hours please do not visit our office. This decision was made in response to

recommendations from the University of Kentucky and the CDC to keep all of our employees and

clientele safe! Programming and staffing changes will resume when given the all clear. Updates will

be made on our Anderson County Extension Facebook page and Anderson County 4-H Facebook

page.

Please note that during the month of June that our upstairs meeting room will also be used for drive

-thru voting. Information is enclosed pertaining to the process and phone numbers listed should you

have questions about that. We are happy to be able to provide the space to allow for our citizens a

safe place to vote.

Homemakers,

I hope everyone is doing well and staying safe at home and when you do go out. I wear my mask

and take all precautions that I can. As we are all getting adjusted to a new norm, the best thing

we can do is be patient and look out for each other. Make phone calls. Send emails, use social

media to check on friends and family. Ask if there is anything you can do to help or point them in

the right direction. You never know how a simple phone call will lift someone’s spirit and you will

feel good about cheering them up.

We are still having our Council meetings; they are now a virtual meeting. The next one is June 3rd

at 9:00 am. Dial in number is: (978) 990-5369. Access Code is: 3486054.

At the scheduled date and time, dial in to the conference. When prompted, enter the access code

followed by pound or hash (#).

The ballots for vice-president and treasurer are due Friday May 29th. They can be dropped

off at the extension office or email to me at: kscheffler74@gmail.com. Your forms for

Homemaker of the Year and Homemaker Legacy are also due May 29th.

At the Council meeting on June 3rd

we will discuss the Home, Craft and Garden Fair. It is sched-

uled for July 28th with setup on July 27

th at 3 pm. We will also discuss the annual end of year

meeting. It might be in July or early August.

Dates to remember:

Ft. Harrod Area Annual Meeting will be held in Mercer County, October 20th.

Fall 2020 Area Council Meeting (daytime), Franklin County will host.

KEHA state meeting for 2021 will be in Bowling Green April 26-29

NVON meeting for 2021 will be held in Owensboro on July 20-22 at the Owensboro Conven-

tion Center. More information will be coming out.

KEHA state meeting for 2022 will be at the Crown Plaza in Louisville May 17-19

KEHA meeting for 2023 will probably be held in Lexington, if construction is completed.

4-H Youth Development

4-H Clubs and Activities

4-H club meetings and activities continue to be on hold. We will follow the University of Kentucky and the

CDC’s recommendations for when programs will resume. We are in hopes that we will be able to slowly re-

start with limited size groups in July.

Summer Camp:

2020 4-H Summer camp was unfortunately cancelled. If you had registered and paid please be sure you

have returned your green post card so we can issue refunds.
