Welcome…

Tracey

In the five years we have known Tracey, we have been really impressed with her efficiency, flexibility and friendliness. We have found the Andover Gazette an effective way of reaching the public.S&J Maddocks

I have been advertising in this particular magazine for a number of years now. The amount of business that this generates around the test valley area for us is nothing short of fantastic, such, that all of my advertising within the local paper has ceased. Thanks for all you help Tracey ESPECIALLY at short notice when I need new photographs of the showroom done. I would gladly recommend this magazine to any business wishing to spend some advertising money wisely, on the basis of what it has done for my own business.Wishing you every success in the future.Kevin Farrer – International Furniture

We have been advertising in the Andover Gazette for around the last year and have found it quite useful. The nice thing I like about the magazine and what sets it apart from other local publications is that there are useful editorials written by local businesses. This allows me as not only an advertiser but also a reader a chance to understand aspects of other parts of the business world. Tracey has been a pleasure to work with and she always makes sure to give me a nudge when I need to prepare an editorial!Paul Croombs – Croombs Chartered Accountants

Creating Wealth for Andover Through the Andover Entrepreneur ClubCreating wealth for the Andover area, local businesses and their business owners is the topic of focus at the newly formed Andover Entrepreneur Club, which has just held its second meeting. The meetings have had a real buzz about them as up to 20 local entrepreneurs gather to share their business experiences and the challenges they are dealing with.

The monthly two-hour meetings are designed to take the entrepreneur away from working ‘in’ their business to working ‘on’ their business. It can be too easy to get caught up in the finer details and the day-to-day demands of your business. But how often do you step back and look at your company, how it is positioning itself and differentiating itself from the competition, how it is performing and what you want to get out of it? These are questions raised by Richard Gigg, a local entrepreneur and business coach, who does an excellent job of facilitating the discussions and getting everyone talking.

Richard co-founded the club with Michelle Duckworth, Managing Partner of DBB Solicitors, who drives a focus on corporate social responsibility at her company, and me Angela Wilbraham. Although my Inspired Community website is new, I have run a financial technology media company for over 10 years and the meeting for me made me realize what stage of evolution my business is in and a few key areas I should focus on to bring it to the next level so I am finding it particularly useful.

What Stage is Your Business?

There are representatives from all different stages of business evolution, from those starting out to more experienced entrepreneurs building their third business. They also came from a wide

variety of areas, including catering (Andover Buffets), gym management (Reasons Fitness), Andover estate agent (Austin Hawk), website development and support (PixInc), chiropractor and hypnotherapy (Your Body, Your Mind) and HR support (The HR Dept), management recruitment (Merap), IFA (Honister Partners), email marketing (Astonish Email), recruitment (Nicholas Howard), and software training (Blackswan Training).

We’ve deliberately kept it to one representative from each business type so there are no competitors in the room that would inhibit open and frank discussions.

As we continue with the meetings we’ll be delving deeper into our challenges, sharing problems, and working together to find solutions to help our businesses prosper. Through the meetings we are aiming to provide new business tools to help increase revenue, reduce stress and boost the local economy.

By helping to support local entrepreneurs, we believe that we can make a difference to the long term future of our commercial and cultural well-being of our region, which is dependent upon small to medium size businesses growing, employing more staff and increasing people’s disposable incomes. As Richard says, “Can you imagine if every one of the businesses in this room is in a position to hire one person or more? I want to help make this a better place to live for my children and extended family giving them plenty of career opportunities and an enjoyable place to work and live.”

It’s also worth mentioning that the buffet lunch was supplied by Jane Bernsten’s new Andover Buffets business and it was a delicious mix of fresh salmon and cream cheese, egg mayonnaise and ham sandwiches, with her trademark chocolate profiteroles that were too hard to resist.

DBB Solicitors…

…combining law with the communityParkes Browne and Brockmans solicitors have merged to create DBB Solicitors, bringing a fresh approach to handling legal matters and a passion for its place in the community.

Convenient: Offices in Andover and Stockbridge, clients are welcome to be seen at either location.

Flexible: Appointments can be arranged between 7.30am and 7pm, home visits possible.

Transparent: No hidden costs and payment plans can be arranged.

Personal: Face-to-face relationships with someone you can trust to help you through the legal process.

Alison Brockman, David Browne and Managing Partner Michelle Duckworth

It was party time in Stockbridge as newly merged legal firm DBB solicitors celebrated its launch.

Guests gathered in the superb orangery at the Three Cups Inn after plans to hold the event in the gardens of the Clarendon Court offices were switched due to the bad weather.

Guest of honour was Romsey MP Caroline Nokes and the party was also an opportunity for DBB solicitors to pursue its passion for the community by inviting two charities to use the event to raise their profile and increase awareness of the work they do.

One of DBB solicitors’ aims is to increasingly build its reputation as a progressive and caring law firm with a proactive approach to working with all aspects of the community.

The Three Smiles fun club is based at Andover Leisure Centre and is a multi-activity programme for young people aged 0-19 years with additional needs.

They can take part in weekly activities alongside siblings every Sunday afternoon during term times.

Activities include trampolining, soft play circuits, junior boxing, arts and crafts, badminton and archery.

BUGS, the Salisbury-based Burns Unit Group Support, told guests how burn patients can suffer years of pain and suffering, operations and many mental and physical difficulties.

Families too can suffer long term difficulties. Post hospital support for survivors of burns is very sparse in the UK and in this region the support offered by BUGS is the only befriending support of its kind available to people who have been burned.

DBB solicitors have offices in Stockbridge and Andover, where a second celebration was planned.

Countdown to the Olympic Torch Relay Arrival BeginsLocal businesses and residents have been alerted to the potential disruption on the afternoon of Wednesday 11 July from the once-in-a-lifetime arrival of the Olympic Torch

Relay. It is anticipated that thousands of people will gather for what is likely to be the largest single event in Andover this summer.

The Torch is expected to arrive in Andover at 3.35 pm, with the relay starting at 4.15 pm and leaving the town at 4.42 pm. It is anticipated that crowds will gather well in advance of the start time and will take a while to disperse after the relay moves on.

Any residents and businesses near to the Torch Relay Route who may be affected should have already received notice of the event. It is hoped that this advance notification will allow people to plan accordingly and also highlight the best viewing points for anyone wanting to see Andover shine in the Olympic Torch light. Details of the temporary road closures will be available online as they are finalised.

Councillor Martin Hatley, Deputy Leader of Test Valley Borough Council said “With the Olympic Torch now firmly on British soil, the countdown to its arrival in Andover has begun. Andover will be ready to welcome the Olympic Torch relay and excitement is mounting as we prepare to celebrate its passing with cheering crowds and special events being held by businesses and schools. It will be an historic occasion and I am sure one that will be remembered for many years to come”.

He continued “The safe management of the event is the responsibility of Test Valley Borough Council who are working in conjunction with the police, highway authority and other agencies to ensure any disruption is kept to a minimum”.

Full details of the route, timetable for the day (including timings of road closures when available) and details of the best vantage points can be viewed at: www.testvalley.gov.uk/london2012)

Local Community Champion Carries the Torch in AndoverAs the only National Presenting Partner of the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay, Lloyds TSB is taking the spirit and inspiration of the Olympic Flame right to the heart of communities

across the UK. Nowhere does this apply more than in Andover where the company has strong links as a local employer, and where one of their employees is set to carry the Olympic Torch through the town.

Mike Dunham was nominated through Lloyds TSB by a colleague, in recognition of his inspirational work with Andover Athletic Club; as a coach, committee member, volunteer and fundraiser.

Mike said, “It is fantastic that the torch is coming through Andover, and being given the opportunity to carry the Olympic Torch through my home town and where I have been connected with the club is absolutely amazing. When I found out I had been nominated it was a great feeling, then to find out I had been chosen as a torchbearer…unbelievable!”

In addition to his roles with Andover Athletic Club, Mike has also volunteered and supported a range of local sports events, run an after school athletics club and facilitated at a school sports leader event, as well as assisting/ coaching at county athletic events.

He first competed for the town athletic club nearly 40 years ago, and now, thanks to his hard work with the club, he will have the chance to use his running skills in the Olympic Torch relay.

The Torch will be carried through Andover on Wednesday 11 July, when ten Torchbearers will carry the flame along a route from Charlton Place to East Portway.

IR35 – New Guidance by Paul Croombs – Croombs Chartered Accountants

IR35 is legislation that ensures people who are deemed employees have to pay PAYE and National Insurance on their drawings from their company as if they were employed. It therefore stops some people from benefiting from paying themselves dividends through their own limited company.

Please note that the legislation has not changed so if you were previously outside the scope then you will continue to be so.

The new guidance sets out a “Business Entity Test” that will show how at risk you and your business are of an IR35 review and if subject to review, what you may need to provide to justify your being outside the scope of IR35.

Interestingly the new guidance doesn’t seem to look at the number of contracts a business is providing as being a key indicator.

The HMRC business entity test is designed to return a score that will tell you if you are at a high, medium or low risk of an HMRC IR35 review.

There has been some hinting from the Revenue that they may be writing to businesses they think would be at

medium or high risk of an investigation to ask if they have considered IR35. It is then up to you to show you are at a low risk or provide additional information for HMRC to make their own decision.

Clearly being subject to a potential HMRC review will worry a high number of people and early indicators are that a high number of contractors working through their own limited company may switch to working through an umbrella company as this is outside the scope of IR35. If you would like to discuss this in more detail please call us.

A couple of questions that they Revenue will be asking in their “test” are;

• Doyougetpaidthesameamountofmoneywhetheror not you finish your job early?

• Wereyouemployedbytheendclientwithinthe lastyear?

Advertising – 4,000-plus years in the makingby Peter WightmanThe term “ADVERTISING” has been defined through a commonly agreed-upon modern explanation (“a paid form of promotion with an identifiable sponsor, intended to produce an action in the audience”).

4,000 years ago The Egyptians used papyrus to make sales messages and wall posters; thus creating the first professional adverts in the world (probably). Commercial messages and political campaign displays have been found in the ruins of Pompeii and ancient Arabia. Lost and Found advertising on papyrus was common in Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome. Wall or rock painting for commercial advertising is another manifestation of an ancient advertising form, which is still present to this day in many parts of Asia, Africa, and South America. The tradition of wall painting can be traced back to Indian rock art paintings that date back to 4,000 BC. History tells us that out-of-home (or outdoor as I call it) advertising and billboards are the oldest forms of advertising.

From ancient Egypt to The Roman and Greek Empires people looked for assistance in promoting their goods and services. Just as today, the area with the greatest diversity of clients was consumer goods – products for mass consumption such as food, clothing and health and beauty aids. A considerable amount of activity went into the manufacturing, importing and selling of such consumer goods. As part of that activity, a complex advertising business flourished. While we cannot say for sure, it is likely that the

Roman Empire was the cradle of advertising and marketing, where many of the practices of advertising as we know them now were developed.

As the towns and cities of the Middle Ages began to grow, here in the UK and the general populace was unable to read; signs that today would say cobbler, miller, tailor or blacksmith would use an image associated with their trade such as a boot, a suit, a hat, a clock, a diamond, a horse shoe, a candle or even a bag of flour. Fruits and vegetables were sold in the city square from the backs of carts and wagons and their proprietors used street callers (town criers) to announce their whereabouts for the convenience of the customers. But the most used signs were of course hanging outside pubs and inns in every town and village in the land; it started with a bush and went on to depict everything from castles to kings to animals and religious connotations. A tradition that is still operating today.

As education became an apparent need and reading, as well as printing, developed, advertising expanded to include handbills. In the 18th century advertisements started to appear in weekly newspapers in England. These early print advertisements were used mainly to promote books and newspapers, which became increasingly affordable with advances in the printing press; and medicines, which were increasingly sought after as disease ravaged Europe. However, false advertising and so-called “quack” advertisements became a problem, which ushered in the regulation of advertising content.

As the economy expanded during the 19th century, advertising grew alongside. In the United States, the success of this advertising format eventually led to the growth of mail-order advertising.

At the turn of the century, there were few career choices for women in business; however, advertising was one of the few. Since women were responsible for most of the purchasing done in their household, advertisers and agencies recognised the value of women’s insight during the creative process. In fact, the first American advertising to use a sexual sell was created by a woman – for a soap product. Although tame by today’s standards, the advertisement featured a couple with the message “The skin you love to touch”.

The French Did It First

In June 1836, French newspaper La Presse was the first to include paid advertising in its pages, allowing it to lower its price, extend its readership and increase its profitability and the formula was soon copied by all titles. Around 1840, Volney B. Palmer established the roots of the modern day advertising agency in Philadelphia. In 1842 Palmer bought large amounts of space in various newspapers at a discounted rate then resold the space at higher rates to advertisers. The actual ad – the copy, layout, and artwork – was still prepared by the company wishing to advertise; in effect, Palmer was a space broker. The situation changed in the late 19th century when the advertising agency of N.W. Ayer & Son was founded. Ayer & Son offered to plan, create, and execute complete advertising campaigns for its customers. By 1900 the advertising agency had become the focal point of creative planning, and advertising was firmly established.

In the early 1920s, the first radio stations were established by radio equipment manufacturers and retailers who offered programmes in order to sell more radios to consumers. As time passed, many non-profit organisations followed suit in setting up their own radio stations and included: schools,

clubs and civic groups. When the practice of sponsoring programmes was popularised, each individual radio programme was usually sponsored by a single business in exchange for a brief mention of the business’ name at the beginning and end of the sponsored shows. However, radio station owners soon realised they could earn more money by selling sponsorship rights in small time allocations to multiple businesses throughout their radio station’s broadcasts, rather than selling the sponsorship rights to single businesses per show.

This practice was carried over to commercial television in the late 1940s and early 1950s.

As you see advertising was as important 4,000 years ago as it is now. Planning a campaign is essential to small business so please give us a ring at the Andover Gazette to plan your marketing campaign and together we will increase your sales.

Advertisement of BrothelEphesus (Turkey) – On the marble road, there is this drawing believed to be an advertisement of the Brothel. This advertisement is known as the first advertisement in history. There is a footprint on the

advertisement, one finger showing the library, and other showing the brothel. The known explanation of this sign is that the footprint shows that one should turn at that point; the woman’s head symbolises the women waiting in the Brothel.

Harwich - torshavn, Faroe islands - reykjavik, iceland (overnight) - akureyri, iceland - geiranger, norway - Bergen, norway - Harwich

An itinerary full of contrasts. On the one hand the spectacular natural wonders of Iceland and the ‘far outpost’ feeling of the Faroe Islands, stretching on to the sophistication of Bergen. It’s a perfect pick-and-

mix, everything you want it to be and more. And you couldn’t ask more of your fabulous ship. Celebrity Infinity has recently undergone a ‘modern luxury’ makeover. She now features more staterooms,

What separates a weak business plan from a good plan? Or a good plan from a great one? As with any reliable roadmap, a powerful business plan clearly lays out a course and provides alternatives to follow should any roadblocks appear.

A business plan is an important tool for internal planning in your business and for harnessing support from outside when necessary.

Build the plan around its audience

A business plan can be used for many purposes and should be created with its use and audience in mind. You might create a plan as a tactical rollout guide for a new product or market, as an annual strategic guide, as a tool to lure investors, or as a way to get your organisation excited about the coming year. The way you’ll use the plan should shape its focus. A plan aimed at raising money needs to focus on the talent and experience of your team to boost investors’ confidence in your company. It should also be slickly produced, printed and packaged. A strategic guide for internal use, on the other hand, might focus more closely on the steps required to roll out a new product. Multiple versions of your plan may be required if you have more than one audience and purpose.

Focus on finances

A strong business plan demonstrates that there is a financial impact related to all strategies, ideas, and assumptions. In one way or another, every section of your plan needs a financial bent – How will marketing generate income? How will the competitive environment impact your ability to make money? What will production of a product cost and how will that impact profitability?

Be realistic in your enthusiasm

While it is natural for a business plan to reflect a belief that your offering or approach is superior to anything else on the market, remember to temper your zeal. In creating each section of the plan, ask yourself what a sceptic would be concerned about regarding your statements and assumptions. Always return to the “why” – Why would customers switch allegiance to you? Why would companies outsource a service to you?

Segment whenever possible

No small business can be all things to all people. Focusing on specific market segments will improve the accuracy of your planning.

Produce carefully

Whether you are sharing a business plan with staff only or a discriminating outside resource, features such as charts, statistics that back up an assertion, or graphics can increase the likelihood that your audience will be receptive to your message. Have your plan proofread to ensure that mistakes don’t undermine its effectiveness. Consider the appropriate way to package a plan. A plan for investors should be printed on high quality paper and bound. You can cut some corners with an internal document.

Revise, revise, revise

A business plan is a “living” document that requires periodic review and continual improvement. Your plan may be your company’s roadmap, but your business can quickly be thrown off course by market downturns, shifting buying habits, or even better-than-anticipated sales. Review your plan regularly to see if you’re on track and adjust budgets and priorities accordingly.

If you want help in creating your business plan, I would be delighted to help.

For many years, the rabbit has been regarded as a cheap children’s pet and have been kept in small hutches and fed on cheap cereal mixes

Fortunately we are now waking up to the knowledge that these are very complex creatures, with very individual needs and if given a high level care can be very rewarding pets

A part of this comes from the veterinary surgeon- if we expect pet owners to give such care, then we have to provide a similar level of care to the rabbit patients that we see. How can we do this?

1. Remember that rabbits are “ prey” species. Unlike cats and dogs, they are fearful of any potential predator (ie cats, dogs, ferrets, and even us!). Therefore, we need to keep them away from the sight (especially), sound, and smell of dogs and cats. This is important while they are waiting for appointments and also while they are hospitalised

2. Rabbits need space- they need to move around a lot. While standard hospital cages are essential for rabbits who need restriction (eg while on drips or if they have spinal damage), most require space to move around and, ideally, to stand upright on their hind legs

3. Understand rabbits. They are very different to the other commonly kept species and so need very different care and advice

a. Neutering – all female rabbits should be speyed. As well as birth control, this prevents womb cancer (very common in does over 5 years old) and many aggression problems. Male rabbits may also need neutering if aggressive to other rabbits or owners

b. Vaccination – all rabbits need myxomatosis vaccines, and VHD vaccination is also recommended. Fortunately there is now a combined vaccine against both that is highly effective, very safe and only needs giving once a year. This has vastly reduced the expense and hassle of keeping your pet vaccinated- hopefully myxi will be a thing of the past!

c. Diet – rabbits need a very natural high fibre diet. Grass, hay and garden weeds/ leafy veg should make up all or the vast majority of their daily ration. Pellets can be useful as a top up for growing animals or in winter, but it is important not to become over-reliant on these as low-fibre diets are the main cause of dental disease and gut problems

d. Drinking – all rabbits need water, but did you know that recent studies have shown that rabbits drink more if given a bowl rather than a drinker? Failure to drink enough water may be a cause of various urinary conditions..so even if your rabbit is used to a drinker, give a bowl of water as well!

e. Pain! – Many conditions are painful to rabbits. Unlike dogs and cats they rarely vocalise or show much reaction. Instead, they will usually become very quiet, move less and produce fewer (or smaller) droppings. If your rabbit is quieter than normal then you should always seek advice as soon as possible

Overall, rabbits are very specialised pets and need a lot of attention as well as specialised care. If you have or are considering getting a rabbit, please read some of our advice sheets on our website http://www.antonvets.co.uk/faqs.html.

“Leave sooner, drive slower, live longer” Yawn.I’m posting this message to express an opinion on driving which you’ll probably hate me for.

I like to drive at speed. I am not reckless, but I love speed. I think the speed limit on motorways should be at least 80mph. I do realize that if I hit something, the damage is worse. But let’s face it. You’ll be just as dead if you hit something at 55mph as if you’d hit something at 80. Get it?

The 70mph speed limit was introduced in 1966. This was set when cars were far less capable of handling high speeds, and 70mph was the fastest some cars could achieve. Back then it was drum brakes now we have disc brakes, ABS, ESP, DSC – all manner of devises to help us stop safely.

“But aren’t we more likely to hit something if we’re going fast” you say? Not really, no. It’s not speed that kills, but inattentiveness: switching lanes without signalling, tailgating, playing with the radio or talking on the mobile phone, weaving aggressively, mistakes in judgement, and generally being unaware of cars around you. If you just pay attention, it’s very possible to drive quickly but just as

safely. Why do you think the death rate on the German autobahn is no higher than ours? I’ll tell you. They go insane speeds, but they still drive like they have sense: slow drivers and trucks get to the RIGHT lane. Everybody uses their signals. They pay attention to what the hell they’re doing. They are GOOD drivers!

The fact is that most speeders are also overly aggressive drivers, and that’s why good drivers like me get lumped into the same category as them. Speed and aggressiveness are not synonyms! Also, speed and safety are not mutually exclusive! Ever seen an old person going 2 miles an hour and weaving all over the place? Exactly.

And that brings me onto my next rant. What is that gives other motorists the tight to gesticulate, shake their head or flash their lights. Just the other day I was travelling on single carriage. A road that I know well. There are only a couple of safe overtaking places. I was following another car travelling at just over 40mph on this 60mph limited road. So when the time came with clear sight and no on coming vehicles I overtook, only to greeted by flashing lights and hand gestures!! What gives that driver the right to tell me what to do especially when I’m not doing anything wrong? It’s my car my life and as long as I’m acting within the law I expect to be able to what I like!

Oh, and stop trying to use statistics to make stricter speed laws. If a really drunk guy is going like 5 miles an hour over the speed limit and has an accident, it was a “speed-related” accident. Give me a break.

What are your views on speeding?

Please let us know by using our Rant Room; writing a blog, tweet, email or submitting an article; making a short film, viral or mp3 audio file to YSB.COM.

It’s called ‘picturing up’. This is when your brain recalls the event in your head.

This happens any time one is asked to recall events.

So, naturally, if this situation occurs in a car, your attention will momentarily switch away from your windscreen and mirrors.

As happened to me when talking to one of my sisters on my car phone the other day on the A303 driving home from work.

She’d asked me a question and, as she couldn’t hear me well, I stupidly took my phone out of its cradle and onto my ear to tell her I’d call her back later on my land line.

And in the split second I was ‘picturing up’, I failed to see the dark blue unmarked police BMW series 3 barreling up behind me. But I saw his ‘blues and twos’ only too well as he shepherded me into the nearest lay-by.

Apparently, I wasn’t the only one ‘picturing up’ whilst on my mobile recently.

For fast-forward two weeks, and you’d find me attending a Hampshire Police/AA Driver Awareness Training course initiative in the Holiday Inn conference room in Eastleigh, along with 23 other hapless drivers who had also all been caught talking on their mobiles

whilst driving on Hampshire’s roads over the past couple of weeks. (The majority of which had also been collared by that beamer.)

‘Picturing up’, stopping distances in the dry and the wet, ‘unintentional blindness’, internal/external distractions and reaction times were a few of the fascinating facts I learnt from this two and a half hour-long session.

The police offer this awareness course for drivers who’ve either been caught speeding or were on their mobile phones.

Instead of a £60 fine and three points, you pay £85 for admin. costs, but get no points.

Still, if you want to avoid either, my advice is simple, don’t speed, or talk on your mobile whilst driving.

Unless it’s on hands-free.

And nowhere near that ruddy dark blue BMW!

Have you got any amusing/interesting stories concerning speeding/talking on your mobile when you shouldn’t have been?

Please let us know by: using our Rant Room; writing a blog, tweet, email or submitting an article; making a short film, viral or mp3 audio file to YSB.COM.

Many of us love to use Facebook and Twitter to tell our friends and family little snippets of our lives but how well do you protect yourself from online criminals and fraudsters? Here are some tips to help you out.

Privacy tools

This is an important one for Facebook. From your privacy settings page you can manage:

• who sees your updates• who views your pictures• what happens when you get tagged in someone

else’s photo• who can message you• who can post on your timeline and much more

It is important to review the options and keep your personal information between you and the people you want to see it.

Know your friends

Do you really know and trust that person you became Facebook friends with 4 years ago? Don’t add any strangers as friends and clear out the ones

Do you use protection? asks Peter Clarke from PC PAL

that you have already added. Do you really want a stranger that you know nothing about looking through your Facebook albums and reading what you get up to every day?

Personal information

You should always limit what you publish online – you don’t want certain information getting into the wrong hands. It is obvious that you shouldn’t share bank details but sharing things like when you are going on holiday, or going to be away from your house for a few days could been seen as an “opportunity” to the wrong type of people. Make sure your phone number and email address can only be seen by friends.

We also recommend that you make sure your password is strong and changed regularly.

If you have questions regarding how to protect yourself on Facebook or Twitter or would like more information on any other computer issue then contact PC PAL on 01264 931000, email [email protected] or visit www.pcpal.co.uk

Swimming with Mother in LawThis happened last Monday, a knock at the door,

An unscheduled visit, from Mother In Law “Will you come down the swimming pool, have a quick dip?

“It closes at twelve so we’ll have to be quick,” My costume is old; I’ve since put on some weight, But dismissing my fears, she just wouldn’t debate.I went in the changing rooms, feeling so frumpy,

Emerged back outside, so self-conscious and grumpy It was then that I noticed her patiently waiting,

I saw her attire; nearly needed sedating, A hat with pink flowers and leaves of green plastic,

A costume so baggy; lost all its elastic,It covered her body from head down to toe,

There was nowhere this bathing suit didn’t quite go, She was obviously dressing for aqua-marine,

‘Cos a snorkel and flippers completed the scene, I relaxed very quickly, ‘twas so plain to see,

That with her by my side, no-one’s looking at me...

Carisma Vehicle Solutions is fronted by Sean Canham and Andrew Scarborough who have both been in the motor industry for around 18 years, after meeting whilst joining a Vauxhall franchise on the same day in May 1994.

Based at the Old Coachworks in Over Wallop, near Stockbridge, Carisma has been helping customers with their vehicle needs since 2003 and their commitment and service to customers has seen sales increase year upon year. They have already supplied hundreds of cars and vans to both private and business clients.

Carisma are able to offer vehicle deals for private individuals and business users; they specialise in finding the car or van you want by utilising their many trade links which saves you time and expense when purchasing your new vehicle. Having excellent relationships with both car dealers and manufacturers ensures that in conjunction with the complete range of finance schemes available, they can provide the best package to you with unrivalled levels of service.

Carisma Vehicle Solutions Ltd has access to a huge database of both new and used vehicles that are available. If you have a requirement of any description, contact Carisma and they will search the entire country to find the right car at the right price for you. They also offer finance options with either personal contract hire or contract purchase. Both methods of finance require you to determine your annual mileage to determine the cost; the hire option usually runs for two or three years whereas the contract option, whilst also running for a fixed time period, allows you to purchase the vehicle at an agreed price at the end of the contract.

For businesses, Carisma offers contract hire, leasing and fleet management. Contract hire is an ideal product for

Carisma Vehicle Solutions

companies who would like to have no operational risk in running their own vehicle fleets. Contract hire allows you to run a new vehicle for a fixed monthly payment assisting cash flow, releasing capital and removing the risk of depreciation.

Contract purchase is a very flexible and affordable way to drive a new vehicle utilising the future value of a vehicle to reduce the monthly costs. This value is guaranteed, based upon an agreed annual mileage, and allows an option to purchase the vehicle for this price. Contract purchase allows you to run a new vehicle for a fixed monthly payment and removes the risk of depreciation. Often contract purchase means you can afford an even better vehicle than perhaps you initially thought. Both contract hire and purchasing can offer a package to include routine servicing and maintenance costs for a fixed monthly rental. All work is carried out by the main dealer network and at a dealer of your choice.

Fleet management is a service which runs alongside your chosen acquisition route. Carisma Vehicle Solutions manages your fleet on your behalf with the objective of reducing the management and administrative burdens associated with running a fleet of vehicles. Fleet management, through Carisma Vehicle Solutions, is designed to meet the needs of each client’s individual own business. With the fleet management service handling the day to day queries of drivers, maintenance, breakdown cover, accident management, daily rental, road tax, MOT and vehicle disposal, your internal fleet administration can be very noticeably reduced.

Carisma Vehicle Solutions Ltd is committed to building long term relationships with all of their clients.
