This role taught me about publicity and the importance of using media, for example local radio and newspapers, in order to inform the public of functions that are being held by an organisation. Summer 2008 Essex Chronicle: Workshadowing I have worked several times for the newspaper, where I shadowed a senior reporter and was entrusted with the tasks of writing press releases and articles, which were published in the paper.

Positions of Responsibility

Director and Social SecretaryIn my final year of university, I directed a performance for the Shakespeare Society.Timekeeping, teamwork and patience were vital attributes to this process. I was elected asSocial Secretary for the Shakespeare Society Committee. I successfully arranged fundraisingand social events.

Head Girl at Secondary School and elected as Student Representative at 6th Form CollegeBoth roles taught me the importance of communication and public speaking from an earlyage. They also developed my leadership skills.

Skills and Experience Profile

Oral Communication: My extensive experience of performance has provided me with theconfidence to present myself clearly and concisely in front of an audience. I am proficient inpubic speaking and acquired excellent telephone skills through my work experience at TalkPR.

 Written Communication: My degree provided me with exceptional writing skills. I have hadexperience in writing articles for the Loughborough Student Union Magazine, Label as wellas articles and press releases for The Chelmsford Chronicle and Talk PR.

Planning: Planning my time effectively to meet deadlines was imperative to my work at TalkPR. I was entrusted with a number of roles from both the beauty and fashion teams wherecareful planning ensured that I achieved very high standards of work, whilst meeting tightdeadlines.

Organisation: Through my role as Social Secretary for the Shakespeare Society I organisedevents such as comedy evenings, fancy dress socials and meals out for the society as publicityfor the group, which increased membership.

Teamworking: I enjoy working as part of a team. My work experience as well as my degreedemanded well-developed teamworking skills which I exercise in all areas of my work. Indirecting several performances I was responsible for creating a positive workingenvironment, and making the group aware of the importance of teamwork.

Flexibility: In every aspect of my work I adapt myself well to the demands of various roles.Through my experience of working at Talk PR, I perfected my skills in flexibility as I fulfilleddifferent tasks for the fashion and beauty teams, such as contacting journalists to publiciseproducts, organising meetings for clients and researching competitor coverage.
