UVALA TABLAZA TANKArea: 19.897,80m²Medellín, Antioquia2013 - 2014

Description:

The main purpose of this project was to take advantage of an area of 19.897,80 m2 with a tank of 10.897,80 m² providing potable water, by removing its surrounding fenced perimeter and adding various pedestrian passages (at different levels) in order for this space to be used by the local community of the borough of Manrrique. Located on the northeast side of Medellin, Colombia.

Some of the strengths of the project were its open tank and its size which allowed for the design of different platforms with activities for children and adults to enjoy in a cool environment with a great view over the city.

Four squares were built on four different levels (level -1.40, level ±0.0, level +5,1 and level 7,5) along with a support building. Also a leisure building with an area of 759.60 m2 was designed and some existing buildings were restored. (Electric substation building, hydroelectric building and heritage museum).

MAIN SQUARE. LEVEL ±0.00

This is the level where the new equipment building and the main square are located (which serves as a meeting point and can be used for different activities or outdoor events).

WATER SQUARE. LEVEL- 1.40

This is the level where the platform of the water tank is located and it is a space for relaxation and interaction with the water.On the platform there are water jets as well as a water pond and a water arch above the submerged bridge.

TRANSITION SQUARE. LEVEL +5.1

This is the level where the basement of the heritage museum house is located. This floor has been restored for exhibitions. This level connect two sides of the neighborhood that were previously isolated.


CULTURAL SQUARE. Level +7.5

This level is where the first floor of the heritage museum house is located. This square serves as a recreational zone for elderly people (with a big green area with pedestrian passages in its entire perimeter).

PROPOSED MAIN BUILDING.

The main building has an area of 759.60 m2 with 3 spare rooms, toilets, a museum office, an operator office, an internet café and technical areas. The building complement the landscape as its covered area is totaly used as a public space with a big green zone. In the middle of the building there is a free space and a staircase that connects the transition square with the main square.

Description:

The housing complex is comprised of 6 apartment towers, 4 flats per floor, 4 different types and ten floor of flats ( in all 240 flats). with 138 parking spaces in the platform and 2 parking spaces in the basement.The communal area is comprised of a platform with a swimming pool for children and adults, playground and a football field.

Description:Detached house located in the city suburb. The house is comprised of 3 modules turned strategically and joined at the back to separate the different uses and capture the view over Medellin.

PRIVATE AREA.This area is divided in 2 spaces connected at the back through a lengthwise movement and has a spare room in between. All private spaces are located on the first floor facing northeast with a view over the city.

COMMUNAL AREA.

The communal area is a separate module divided into 2 floors. The main access is located on the first floor with a kitchen, a living and a dining room (with a fireplace) all integrated in a spacious environment connected to a large terrace on the northwest side of the building. In the basement there is one utility room, a spare room, a toilet and a gym.

On the first floor there is a sales room, an exhibition hall, a reception, a work shop room, a cash desk, a warehouse, the management’s office, the customer’s room, an advisor room, Kitchen, toilets and parking spaces.

REGULATIONS OF THE HACIENDA LA PRIMAVERA.All houses within the housing complex have a traditional style according to regulations. It should have features as:have to use brick, stone and stucco for exterior walls and where the brick use can not be more than 80%. Also steep tiled roof should be used for the covering. The two modules are separated by a patio and the swimming pool is located in between them.which are joined in an open access with view over a lake.

FIRST MODULE:On the First module there are 2 bedrooms with bathroom and terrace on the west side overlooking to the lake.The dining room, the living room, and a toilet are located in the middle and a utility room, an spare room and the parking spaces on the east side.

The private area is located on the Westside where there are 4 bedrooms, with bathroom and patios.

The communal area is located on the north side and is comprises of a big hall, 2 living rooms, a dining room and a kitchen integrated in a huge open space.

The private and communal area are joined in a corner and are perpendicular forming an L shape. All space has an open access lengthwise overlooking the like.The exterior of the house is mostly made of bricks and has larges bay windows and a steel tiled roof.
