Andrew McFetridge

Hello to all CHHS Parents/Guardians, Staff, and Students,

I am very excited to be to joining the CHHS learning community for the 2017/2018 school year as your new principal. It feels great to be a Viking again. I look forward to adding my 21 years of teaching and school administrator experience to CHHS. I have very positive memories from my years as a student at both Vincent Massey School and CHHS. I felt that my teachers genuinely cared about the lives and learning of their students. I felt supported, like I mattered, and that I

belonged. Teachers and neighbors in Crescent Heights also helped my siblings and I through some challenging times in our lives. I remember so many of my teachers being patient, kind, and interested in the success and lives of students. It is feelings and memories like these that I want to pay forward as principal at CHHS.

I know that CHHS is a very special and positive learning community. It is easy to see the culture of “service to kids first” and a strong team and collaborative staff spirit that Mr. Grisonich and the CHHS Staff have created together. I will continue this legacy and strive for continued improvement in the areas of a positive, student-centered culture and optimal learning for students and staff. Preparing students for happy and successful lives, matters to me. Achieving these goals depends on ensuring that highly skilled staff build and nurture excellent relationships with students and their families.

My wife, Stacey (also a former CHHS Viking/Chinook) and I are both looking forward to attending some extra-curricular events this school year at CHHS, as my role at my current school allows. I am really looking forward to joining the CHHS learning community as principal for the 2017/2018 school year and connecting and working with you. I appreciate that there are many strengths at CHHS and I hope to work collaboratively with all of you to further build on past and current successes. It will be great to join all of you soon and to learn more about the “soul” of CHHS. I look forward to pouring my heart into this new role and working with the entire CHHS community to make great things happen – to have CHHS continue to be a lighthouse in the lives of students.

Sincerely, Andrew McFetridge
