History of the IMechE
• Est. 1847 to recognise engineering excellence. George Stephenson first president.
• Created due to the boom in Mechanical Engineering in Britain following the advent of the railways and industrialisation.

ENGINEERS DATA BOOK
• The Engineers’ Careers Guide will be distributed to all Final year students at the start of the academic year.
• It aims to provide detailed information on the range of industries available for new graduates to go into, as well as advice on the job application process.
• The book also explains and encourages upgrade to Associate membership upon graduation to begin the journey towards professional registration.
