Direct solar and wind pumping systems pump water without using baWeries, being the ponds or tanks the energy storage. This makes these systems very reliable and economic, being compeOOve against pumping systems fed by diesel generators, in all countries where diesel is around 1$/litre.

In systems where it is criOc irrigaOng in Ome slots (night) when it cannot be guaranteed solar or wind resource availability, the pump can be fed from a Mini-‐Grid system, which has the energy stored in baWeries, being able to guaranty supply at any daily Ome slot. The Mini-‐Grid is complemented with a diesel generator as an emergency supply system. Having 3 different energy sources , the system reliability is very high.

Uncoupling extracOon and irrigaOon.
In systems where it is criOc to irrigate in Ome slots of reduced resource and water is extracted underground from a relaOve depth, it is convenient uncoupling e x t r a cOon and i r r i g aOon . ExtracOon stores water in a irrigaOon pond and only works when there is resource available. The irrigaOon works all days at the programmed slot taking water from the pond.
