A Welcome from Our Principal

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the St. Peter’s Catholic School Auction, Angels in the Vista! This event, our largest of three fundraisers that take place during the year, provides us the opportunity to come together and enjoy each other’s company, listen to great music, and bid on bargains. Our Auction Committee, chaired by Melanie McGehee (Ian, 1st grade) and co-chaired by Katie Spann (Cliff, 3rd grade and Ray, 1st grade), has spent many hours of planning and preparing for this special evening. All proceeds from the Angels in the Vista Auction enable our PTO to enhance the school program in a variety of ways. Materials for classroom instruction, playground upgrades, instructional technology, and professional development are just a few of the ways our PTO and your contributions have improved the learning environment for the children of St. Peter’s Catholic School. We are truly blessed to have the support of our parishioners, alumni of St. Peter’s School, and our many neighbors in the Vista. This year the theme the faculty chose for the classroom auction item is “Kindness”. As I admired each beautiful item and read each quote, I recognized St. Peter’s school and parish as a community of kindness! Families, faculty and staff, parishioners and friends consistently exhibit kindness in so many ways. However, it is most gratifying when the children are the beneficiaries of this kindness and generosity. “What wisdom can you find that is greater than kindness?” Thank you for being here. Enjoy the evening! With gratitude, Kathy Preston Principal

Greetings from the Auction Committee

It is with great pride that we welcome you to the Angels in the Vista Auction 2013. Thank you for spending this night with us to support St. Peter’s Catholic School. We are truly blessed. For 160 years, St. Peter’s Catholic School has nurtured and challenged students to achieve excellence in the areas of both academics and virtue. St. Peter's alumni provide Columbia (and the world!) a strong foundation of community service and more. Tonight we join together to continue that tradition of excellence. If you are new to us this evening, then we hope you get a taste of our family represented here. It is one that has room for all. The school has already experienced the generosity of this community for months. We are grateful to our many donors and sponsors. We are grateful to parishioners and parents who have worked alongside each other. We are grateful for new friendships that formed while this event was in its planning stages. This evening, it is time to celebrate! Mix and mingle with friends. Bid on a fabulous array of silent auction items. Have fun participating in the exciting live auction. Please raise your hands high, and bid often! Remember, all proceeds benefit our beautiful children, the true "angels in the Vista!" Warm regards, Melanie McGehee & Katie Spann Auction Chairs

“When you hear "BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina," you'll see people nodding in recognition. Most everyone knows who we are. As the only South Carolina-owned and operated health insurance carrier, we have been offering security to Palmetto State citizens for more than 65 years. We are also one of South Carolina's largest employers. BlueCross is also a major supporter of community and charitable causes. We support health care-related research, education and service in South Carolina through the BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina Foundation. Giving back to the community is important to us. That’s why we support non-profit organizations, workplace giving programs and our employees who volunteer. In recent years, we have received awards for supporting the community, and so have our employees. By donating money and volunteer time, we help many non-profit organizations. This helps create a strong community for everyone.” - BCBS of SC

Meet Our Auctioneer - Tom Crawford

Tom has been in the broadcast television business for over 20 years. With Tom’s special training and on-air personality, he is able to capture and keep the attention of his listening audience. This will be Tom’s 3rd year as the Angels in the Vista Auctioneer! We are confident that our success is largely due to his working with us. Tom is a licensed auctioneer and a “Benefit Auctioneer Specialist”. This designation gives Tom the upper edge more so than the regular Auctioneer. With specialized training in benefit auctions, galas and fundraisers of 501c3 organizations, Tom is among the less than 1% of the 15,000 auctioneers in the country with the “Benefit Auctioneer Specialist” designate. Tom brings a very unique, personable & energetic delivery to his auctioneering with a smooth easy to understand chant along with audience involvement without any pressure, Tom focuses only on charitable (benefit) galas and events. In the Southeast Tom has conducted numerous record-breaking events during these economic times.

Let Tom be a part of your event. For more information call 843.345.1573 or visit www.ultimatebenefitauctions.com,

Fund-A-Project

In 2011 the Angels in the Vista Auction introduced the first Fund-A-Project. This option allowed attendees that wanted to donate to a great cause, but didn’t win or want any of the auction items offered. Our first FAP focused on technology. The goal was to raise enough funds to purchase large LCD screens in each of the classrooms. In 2012 the Fund-A-Project was moved to the playground. A new rubber ground covering was installed under the play set used by the youngest of our students. In 2013 we return to technology. The proceeds of this year’s FAP will be used to purchase iPads and Apple TV converters for the 2nd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grade classrooms. This technology has been used in the 1st and 3rd grade with great success. It would be most wonderful if we could raise enough money to purchase iPads for the K4-K5 classrooms as well.

Nurture, Challenge, Achieve!

Special thanks to Mr. Mark Shelley, vice president of Marketing and Communications at Lexington Medical Center. Mr. Shelley has produced two award winning videos for the nationwide Pink Glove Dance video competition. In November, 2012, Lexington Medical Center was presented with a $10,000 first place prize which was then donated to the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer.

At tonight’s auction we will be unveiling a promotional video Mr. Shelley has graciously produced for St. Peter’s School. Mark and his wife Theresa have been parishioners of St. Peter’s Church, longtime supporters of Catholic education, and raised a wonderful Catholic school teacher, our 2nd grade teacher, Ms. Shelley!
