Alfred The GreatAlfred the great was the only king in England called the great. Alfred the great was the king of Wessex. Alfred the great’s dad reigned over Wessex before he did. Alfred the great lead his army to battles and he WON EVERY BATTLE!
Laws Stealing CowsIf you stole a cow you would have to face the consequence. If you were caught stealing a cow you will have to pay 5 or 10 shillings. In Anglo-Saxon time 5 or 10 shillings was a lot of money back then but now its only 20p or 25p! In Anglo-Saxon time they would burn your hand but if it healed quickly you were not guilty but if it didn’t heal fast you were guilty.
Army and
BattlesAnglo-Saxon army's only had a
hundred odd men. The soldiers in the
army had the usual weapons such as
spears, swords, axes, bows and
arrows. They had helmets on their
heads and carried wooden shields.
Everyone fought in battles. The best
Anglo-Saxon weapon is a battle axe.
It took hours of work to craft a sword.
The most precious Anglo-Saxon
weapon was a sword.
