Draws CrowdAmerican Angus Association’s annual bull

sale averages $7,141 per head.

Angus enthusiasts consigned 39 bulls to the 2014 National Western Angus Bull

Sale Jan. 15 in Denver, Colo. The annual sale, which is the only sale managed by the American Angus Association, grossed $278,500 and averaged $7,141. A panel of three judges composed of Chris Styles, Brentford, S.D.; Jake Scott, Gordon, Neb.; and Joe Myers, Harrodsburg, Ky., evaluated the bulls and selected division and overall champions.

Express Angus Ranches, Yukon, Okla., consigned the grand champion bull, EXAR First Advance 5702B. The September 2012 son of Dameron First Class became the high-selling lot. Schnoor Sisters, Chowchilla, Calif., purchased the winning bull for $25,000. He earlier won senior calf champion — division 2.

K Bar D, Redmond Ore., consigned the reserve grand champion bull. K Bar D Dateline 1056 is an April 2012 son of Vermilion Dateline 7078 and first won junior champion. Dick Hubman, Bonanza,

Ore., purchased the bull for $9,500.Other high-selling bulls included Green’s

Twenty Twelve consigned by Savannah Green, Hardin, Mont., who first won reserve junior champion. The March 2012 son of HF Tiger 5T was purchased by Sunny Okanogan Angus Ranch, Omak, Wash., for $15,000.

Sankey’s Dinero 307 won late winter bull calf champion and was consigned by Sankey’s 6N Ranch, Council Grove, Kan. Billy Estrada, Durango, Mexico, bought the February 2013 son of Barstow Cash for $14,250.

Riley Bros. Farms, Darlington, Wis., consigned RB GFC Gravity 3431. Sykes Angus Farm, Williamsport, Ohio, purchased the March 2013 son of EXAR Upshot 0562B for $14,250.
