Animation Proposal

My idea for my animation is to reflect on my very own personal experience. I liked the idea

of using my own scenario of a personal experience that I overcame. I thought this would be

a good idea as I could work closer to home and use my own experience that I could relate

to. In the result of this, I feel that my work would be more imaginative and creative and

would generate my own style. My animation is subject to change through development

when Flash takes place however, I have thought up a great idea that could develop well. I

will be using myself as the main character going through the crisis of finding somewhere to

live. This will consist of viewing properties and problems arising within the properties. My

main concept of the animation is to bring forward the whole idea of Estate Agents and their

promise. Using the idea of the estate agent will bring my animation to life and to the real

that will generate, a build up to something resulting in a payoff for my main character.

The idea of my piece is mainly from my own experience. I feel this has a lot of potential and

was a very big part of my life changing. It was a huge step I had to take and has had a huge

impact on my life with my partner and my son.

I found inspiration through a huge amount of animations I had viewed online one of which

was “Stressed Eric” (YouTube); I loved the humour in the animations. I also, found

inspiration from Martin Pickles. I really liked the style of his “Like me, only better

“Animation (YouTube). I was inspired by the idea and the humour he used in this animation

particular just, because of the idea of someone’s personal experience and the impact of it

on everyday life.

I wanted to try my best at including humour in my animation. I think this would work well

especially with the whole idea of the estate agents for example, when viewing a property

the door handles falling off, noisy street, crazy neighbours etc. I would like to have a look at

some print outs from the internet of available viewings and the descriptions and possibly

use inter titles. I want my estate agent to be a typical stereotypical estate agent with a

clipboard and to play on the whole estate agent promise.

I would like to create my animation in a style of just black and white with selected colour,

similar to a children’s style. It is going to be simple and quirky with no narration but, just the

use of sounds where needed. I am yet to think of an appropriate title but, I want to play on

the whole idea of the estate agents. My title will just be a brief description to keep it simple

and relevant. I aim to hand draw all my animation and bring it in to flash. I am open to using

new techniques and possibly try using a graphic tablet. I like the effect of drawing with a

paint brush with a small stroke I like the cartoon, sketchy effect it gives.
