  • As well as delivering a rigorous and varied academic curriculum, we aim to extend students horizons by providing them with a wide variety of opportunities and activities including drama, music, art, and sports.

    We believe physical education and sport play an important part in the busy life of our students. The opportunities to take part in any number of sporting activities are outstanding.

  • By providing a vehicle to health and fitness, and contributing to academic achievement.

    It offers a path to recognition, achievement and satisfaction.

    Fosters team work and social/ethnic harmony. Builds self-confidence, enthusiasm, resolution

    and integrity. Enriches school and local community life.

  • Improving Opportunities Sport in our community

    We encourage our students to continue and advance their skills by joining local clubs and community organisations

    Our teaching staff extend their coaching and mentoring skills to extra-curricular clubs

  • Our students are encouraged to take on leadership roles in sport; supporting the activities of younger children, including links with primary schools.

    We play an important role leading our community in local and national celebrations e.g. the 2012 Olympic Games.

  • Existing Indoor Facilities Have multiple uses

    We have one sports hall and one gymnasium, which was constructed around 40 years ago. During the late spring and early summer term the gymnasium is commandeered as an examination centre

  • Existing Outdoor Facilities Not up to standards

    We do not possess a single all-weather playing surface. This severely limits normal curriculum autumn and winter activities, especially those with physical disabilities.

  • We Intend to Improve We have a 6-Phase Project in Hand

    1. Project evaluation and initial ideas (Complete) 2. Community and partner input (Jan-Mar 2013) 3. Initial designs and costs (Feb-Mar 2013) 4. Governor Academy sign off (March 2013) 5. Funding applications and bids (Apr-Sept 2013) 6. Project build commences (Autumn 2013)

  • A local Architects based in Holmes Chapel.

    We have engaged Jay Ashall Associates Architects

  • A multi-use sports hall with an air-sprung wooden floor to be used for a variety of sports including badminton, basketball and trampolining

    A dance/ exercise studio A fitness suite, outfitted with weights and

    cardio-vascular and resistance machines Indoor changing provisions for participating

    sports people.

  • Draining and levelling our existing outdoor turf pitches to maximise playing surfaces for rugby, cricket, archery, etc

    Two astro-turf synthetic pitches to withstand high density usage for activities like football, rugby and hockey

    One small all weather pitch to accommodate junior football, basketball, netball and tennis

    An all weather running track All weather combined netball and tennis courts Separate internal and external facilities are required. Floodlighting of key outdoor surface areas to maximise out-of-hours use.
