An author’s purpose is the reason an authordecides to write about a specific topic. Then,once a topic is selected, the author mustdecide whether his purpose for writing is toinform, persuade, entertain, or explain hisideas to the reader.
Persuade means to convince someone to believe a certain way by using means of argument, reasoning, or entreaty.
To impart information to; make aware of something
To acquaint (oneself) with knowledge of a subject.
To give or provide information.
To hold the attention of with something amusing or diverting.
To provide entertainment.
Short story: To entertain or grab the reader’s attention.
Article: To summarize a topic or give a lesson
Book: Most commonly to entertain but also are factual and give information.
Persuasive Essay: To express an opinion
Informational text: To inform the reader on a certain topic.
