The preservation and development of this musical culture is our concern. This project contributes to its documentation, preservation and revitalisation. It promotes the public awareness for this common European cultural heritage. It shall further constitute a European network of people dealing with these instruments in theory and practice - ethnologists, musicians and instrument builders - for a sustainable exchange of knowledge and experience. All partners together will record in film and sound the age-old signalling music that preserved itself in Avram Iancu in Romania. The Romanian co-organizer will transfer the results of this field research into contemporary music with young Roma musicians, the results will be shown in concerts in Romania and Germany. All partners will benefit from the vast experience in using traditional music in education which the Spanish co-organizer has. The Spanish co- organizer will report about that in a congress in which the other partners will participate. In Galicia, a further aim is to promote the music through research work, publications and instrument reconstructions. In October 2012, the findings and experiences of this project will be made accessible to and spread within a greater European public in a musicians' meeting with concerts. Musicians of 20 nations will participate, of course all partners will be present. The partners will meet for coordination and exchange of experience during the field research in Avram Iancu/Romania, the congress in Vigo/ Spain and the herders' musician meeting in Balingen/Germany. The project can be seen as an interior continent and an emotional map, as well as a complex metaphor of the contemporary body, subject and object of communication, space for creativity, hub for new ideas and concepts as well as vehicle for cultural development. It represents an accelerator of opportunities for exchange and intercultural dialogue, moving people’s bodies and emotions into new cultural landscapes and contexts. In its very unique and innovative approach, the project is a concept-driven initiative that aims to mobilize talents and creative organisations towards a multi-layered European network in which artists, managers and audience are invited to share ideas and projects. The project encourages an active dynamics between artist and manager, placing them on an equal level at the heart of both project development and sustainable organisational growth. Through its important number of countries involved, participants and complex activities, the project represents an excellent contribution to a long-term development of local cultural scenes. Y-POETRY 2011 - 2012 Young people between the ages of 15 and 17 from four European cities. Poets and performance artists peform on new podia. Secondaryschool teachers and adult visitors and their guests from neighbouring countries meet and exchange ideas. Theme: The City Workshops and preliminaries in Berlin, London, Antwerp and Amsterdam, seminars with guests from contiguous countries: Ireland, France,Poland. Festival final in Amsterdam: young people from the participating countries get together for three days and compete to decide which isthe best poem Objectives - Inspiring young people from different European cities and various social levels by introducing them to poetry and each other - Creating/generating a dialogue between youths from other cities and countries. - Expanding co-operation and exchange of ideas between cultural institutions, schools, artistes and countries. - Offering artists and poets the opportunity to perform on stages outside of their native countries. - Introducing teachers and literary organisations from each country to a poetry-education workshop. - Making a contribution to a European exchange of (practical) insights into cultural education. - Actively and practically promoting literature and modern poetry of the various countries. - Exchanging high quality modern poetry. - Enhancing talent. Giving young people the chance to develop their skills further. - Improving co-operation and collaboration between the participating cities. Y-Poetry effectuates contact between young people from different European cities and divergent social levels. Adult visitors to the program -wherein young people recite their own poems - are given a "new insight" into the social environment of young people. Y-Poetry not only encourages the cultural exchange between amateur and professional, society and school, poetry and other art forms, butalso crosses the cultural "interface" between youth and adults from the various contries.

Eight organizers from five countries, five of them new to Culture Programme, meet to MAKE EDUCATION MORE ARTFUL in theirinterdisciplinary project of Music, Dance and Visual Arts: EduMEMA. The involvement of Cyprus and Turkey to work with Central EU countries shall bring new cultural, artistic and geographical perspectives to itsconcept. EduMEMA connects CULTURAL organizations from EDUCATIONAL (Konservatorium Wien AT, and Mimar Sinan TR Universities),EXECUTIVE (Košice - European Capital of Culture 2013, Impresariat Prague), LEGAL (Municipalities of Poprad SK and Larnaka CY) andARTISTIC (Tatra Gallery SK, Anadolu Ateşi TR ) backgrounds. EduMEMA's artistic mission is to contribute to a fuller Understanding of Arts via stronger Art Education. Theme: „Authentic“ or „Fake“,„Period“ or „Modern“?.. - Dogmatic or Ecumenical? shall lead to contextual verifications of the European Cultural Heritage. International Young Makers in Transit will be organised by the International Young Makers’ Exchange (IYME), a network of European basedtheatre and dance festivals which is aimed at the international showcasing of the work of young artists at a stage in their careers before theycan access established funding streams. Although the internet has made our world very small and contacts in other countries within hand’s reach, there is a definite need for face toface connection. Real contact strengthens, broadens visions and inspires. Especially next generations art talents have to be able to crosscountry as well as cultural borders. Working with peers from other countries enlarges their network and thus providing them with new workpossibilities while fully exploring the notion of theatre making in an intercultural environment. Also, it gives them new impulses to their artisticdevelopment and it shows them that the possibilities for presenting art work go far beyond one’s own backyard. Although the need is obvious, young talents just don’t have the financial and practical capabilities to organise international exchanges.Therefore we designed IYMT which consists of two parts: a visitors programme for graduate students, young artists and programmers and anexchange of works. Each target group within the visitors programme is given its own specific training programme (Early Transit, INSTED foryoung directors, Critics workshop for theatre university majors, Programmers network meeting and practical workshops) hosted byprofessional teachers. The aim of these programmes is to share knowledge, work together and learn from each other. Both the visitorsprogramme and the exchange of works are dependent on each other as there is a need within the trainings to be able to relate to specificworks seen by all the participants and the presenting artists greatly benefit from a debate with visitors from all over Europe to reflect on theirown work.

« EAU COMMEPATRIMOINE ».EXPERIENCESET SAVOIRFAIRE DANSLARÉHABILITATION DESVILLES D’EAUET DESPAYSAGESFLUVIAUX.

L'objectif est d'approfondir la dimension culturelle du projet urbain et paysager, à travers un projet participatif en favorisant, dans le mêmetemps, une approche interdisciplinaire et multiculturelle. La Convention Européenne du Paysage nous incite à franchir la barrière constituéepar une conception exclusivement technologique concernant les problématiques de l’aménagement urbain et paysager, dans le but de seréapproprier de la dimension culturelle des espaces de vie. En particulier trois sujets émergent de l'analyse de nombreuses expériences de requalification des zones urbaines et des paysages fluviauxen Europe : 1. le premier concerne la redécouverte de l’importance des fleuves et des rivières dans les villes et par conséquent des lieux historiques(ports, berges, friches, docks, espaces naturel, ect.) comme éléments d’intérêt patrimonial ; 2. le deuxième aspect déterminant concerne l’importance des fleuves et rivières comme couloirs écologiques et « greenstructure » àl’intérieur des villes et des aires métropolitaines; 3. le dernier aspect concerne les politiques culturelles que plusieurs villes ont mis en place pour rapprocher les citadins de leur cours d’eau. Le projet entend développer de telles problématiques au travers de l’approfondissement des cas d’études et ce notamment avec l’activité desLaboratoires participatifs de projet urbain et paysagers (AteLP) dans chaque pays adhérent. Le projet se déroule sur deux ans et est fondésur l’activité des AteLP et sur 4 moments d’approfondissement (2 séminaires, 1 design workshop, 1 conférence finale). A l’activité des AteLP seront associées les Collectivités locales et les Ecoles d’architecture et du paysage avec l'implication des associationset institutions locales. Pour la diffusion des résultats du projet sont prévus : 1. livre-catalogue et compendium des bonnes pratiques; 2. expositions de l’activité des AteLP ; 3. insertion du projet dans les sites web des coorganisateurs et partenaires.

CITYBOOKS – UNIQUE CITY IMPRESSIONS citybooks is a project in which artists and public find each other in an urban and multimedia environment. Seven experienced partners fromAustria, Belgium, France, FYR of Macedonia, Poland and United Kingdom work together towards an intercultural collaboration on Europeanlevel with a huge audience potential and a low threshold. The city is the principal factor. CREATE Authors, photographers and video makers – young talents and established names – get to know a city during a two-week residence andtranslate this experience into their personal artistic language. Per city, five authors each write a citybook: a story, an essay or a piece ofpoetry in which the city is the main focus. One photographer delivers 24 photos. From each of the cities visited, a video portrait is made andincluded in the series City One Minutes. DOCUMENT The heart of citybooks is its website, www.city-books.eu. Here all the elements of the project come together: the citybooks of the authors asweb text, as e-book and as podcast in English, French and Dutch, the photographs, the City One Minutes and all the information on thecollaboration with the European cities. DIALOGUE Intercultural dialogue is an important starting point for citybooks. Artists across Europe enter into dialogue with a city and its culture, mainlythrough activities organised by the local partners. These encounters leave their imprint in the citybook of the author, the visuals of thephotographer and the short films of the video maker. citybooks appear in English, French and Dutch, and when applicable, in a fourth ‘locallanguage’. Via citybooks everyone gets the opportunity to discover urban culture at its best and to learn another language in the meantime. CONNECT citybooks means building a sustainable network of ‘Unitied Cities of Europe’. In this project we include six cities, but our ambition is thateventually every European country is represented in citybooks.

The theatre, traditionally being the treasure of national culture, shall become an “emergency entrance” for people standing at the porches ofEurope or for those who already live in Europe as undesired neighbours, in short: the others. Those, represented by actors, are to meet inunexpected constellations on the stages of 6 countries. The proposed project is doing theatrical research on new, visible or invisible, mentallines of borders in today’s Europe. It challenges artists of 6 nations to find supranational perspectives on ubiquitous national socio-ethnicconflicts. Step1: The national theatrical research projects. All artistic teams will do a documentary research on an issue highly relevant in theirown countries. The research material will be dramatized and adjusted for stage and premiere in the respective countries. The aim is todevelop dramatic, multi-media essays of a very different form. Step 2: Conducting cross-national theatrical workshops. The artistic results ofstep 1 will now be looked at from new perspectives in workshops conducted with 2-3 partner theatres. Hosting each other’s companies, thepartners will combine their artistic results. They will work out commonalities, create imaginative links – thus mapping the current situation ofEuropean neighbours in a new way. Step 3: “Emergency Entrance Festival" and symposium. The work on perspectives derived from step 1and 2 will result in a concluding festival. The change in perspective produced by confronting on stage traditional bilateral national “otherness”conflicts with new “otherness” groups from other countries will produce surprising results in our biased view on these issues.The projecttackles issues like humanitarian catastrophes in today’s Europe, high criminality among immigrants, thus giving reasons for prejudices anddiscrimination. It aims to initiate a fertile dialogue and contribute, through art, to the process of acceptance of diversity and otherness in aEurope without borders.

513492 INTERNATIONALLY MIXED

‘INTERNATIONALLY MIXED is a performing arts project in which mobility, student interaction, multicultural exchange, communicationawareness on gender aspects through arts and sustainability of the final product are the main purposes. The result is the creation of a piecethat will be touring in the 3 partner countries, Spain, Germany and Holland. Two choreographers collaborate with two composers and music,dance, set, light and costume design will be one common work. The 53 participating students from the three countries will be divided in twomixed groups which will work either with a Spanish or German choreographer. The choreographers will be figures with a firm practice in thefield, and the composers will be music composition students from Cologne. The choreographer will also be working on an interdisciplinarylevel with a costume designer, light designer and set designer. The composers will be coached by an experienced composer and 3 differentorchestras of 7 members will perform on location. Leading theme of the project will be the gender perspective and how much it is present andinfluences an art work. A dance scientist will be researching and exchanging on the gender perspective with the choreographer, composerand dancers. Through small scale seminars or lectures the students will have access to the information related to the creation process andwill share their experiences with the rest of participants. The scientist will keep a journal, which will appear on the net in a blog, and willeventually lead up to a publication which will expand the effects of the project after the last performance. This entire artistic creation andexhibition project which is INTERNATIONALLY MIXED is designed and coordinated by a steering committee formed by representants of thethree partners that will coordinate, delegate actions, control and take care of all the different aspects that will bring this idea into aninternational, cultural and social European event.

Die europäischen Standorte der Industriekultur, Stadtgeschichte, Gegenwartkunst und Frühgeschichte in Bocholt, Gdansk, Bremen undBitola gingen in ihrer Geschichte früh Verbindungen in den Bereichen Arbeit, Technik, Textilkunst, sozialer Entwicklung bis hin zurindustriellen Fertigung ein. Diese gemeinsame europäische Geschichtsdimension wird zurzeit weiter entwickelt. Das Projekt artMuseunterstützt diesen Prozess, indem es diese Ebene des gemeinsamen historischen Erbes mit den gemeinsamen Themen der Gegenwart undder Zukunft verbindet. Doch diese Orte haben heute noch etwas Weiteres gemeinsam: sie befinden sich in einer Zeit der europäischenökologischen, ökonomischen und sozialen Umgestaltung auf der Suche nach neuen kulturellen Ausdrucksformen. Dieser Suche möchten wirin artMuse gemeinsam und konstruktiv begegnen, indem wir zusammen mit Künstlern, Kreativen, Kulturmanagern, Bürgern undMuseumsbesuchern daran arbeiten, die beteiligten Museen zu europäisch vernetzten Orten der Kreativität, der Vermittlung und desKulturexperimentierens werden zu lassen und den Grundstein für ein europäisches Kulturzentrum zu legen. Im Juli 2011 wird die Eröffnung der „Alten Spinnerei Herding“ in Bocholt der Beginn einer Reihe von interaktiven Medienkunst-festivals unterder Beteiligung von Künstler aus ganz Europa werden. Dieser Kunst-"Jam" ermöglicht lokalen und europäischen Künstlern, aber auch jedemkünstlerischen Laien und Besucher eine praktische Teilnahme an dem Event. Diese Reihe wird mit Folgeevents an den Standorten derbeteiligten Partner kontinuierlich fortgesetzt und damit auch die Vernetzung der Akteure ausgebaut. Dazu werden alle Ergebnisse langfristigdokumentiert und somit für eine breite interessierte Öffentlichkeit sowie Kunst- und Kulturinteressierte zugänglich gemacht.

TransnationalCo-productionIn Action /Meridians

Seven of the leading arts festivals in Europe will work collectively to enable 8 performance companies, 4 established and 4 emerging, toexplore creative practices with the outcome resulting in four new street arts creations aimed at outdoor audiences. The working processes,which will be shared with other organisations, will investigate and deepen intercultural dialogue within the arts in Europe in a direct andtransferable fashion. The main goal of the project is to create an opportunity for young, emerging artists and companies to develop new performance pieces thatinvestigate new artistic expressions in the field of street arts and in non-conventional venues, and to match these fresh companies withexperienced creators in the field to assist the artistic process. To underpin the dissemination of the work produced, the leading arts festivalform a supportive steering group to enable the management of the project to be facilitated, and to ensure that the resulting work is seen bymillions of audience members across Europe. The seven organisations working in collaboration are Fira de Teatre al Carrer-ES, ISTF-BE, Event International-GB, Ville de Mulhouse-FR,Inteatro-IT, St Patricks Festival-IE and Drustvo gledalisce Ane Monro-SI. CommunityOriented Art andSocialTransformation

COAST is the title of an artistic cooperation which will explore the dynamics of ‘crossing borders’, which are created due to migration, anddifferences between different groups, , and further will explore and celebrate the creative energy which is created at the interface betweenarriving cultures and the host community. Four professional community theatre organisations in four European countries which are affectedby the issue of migration, will work with volunteers/participants from host and migrant communities to create new original theatre, based onstories and experiences emerging from these creative interactions, considering the theme of crossing borders. This work will be shared, andconnections developed between partners through a sequence of shared work, training workshops, exchange and secondment of key artisticstaff, discussion and deliberation between Artistic Leaders of each organisation. These explorations of philosophy, methodology and practicewill engender a new level of understanding, both of the issues faced by host and migrant communities in each participating country, but alsoof the varied artistic techniques and cultural approaches which can be used to further community cohesion through artistic initiatives.Learning from the project will inform future work of partners, and through dissemination through a variety of media, will impact on otherorganisations working in the fields of art and community development.

connect connect A mentorship initiative and laboratory of the contemporary in the performing arts Mentors: Alain Platel, René Pollesch, Philippe Quesne and Ong Ken Seng CONNECT CONNECT is a newly designed mentorship initiative to support emerging artists in the field of performing arts in Europe. Its goalis open up a new realm of experience and development for artists in a special "CONNECT CONNECT" setting. It examines – by mentorshipand artistic means – the artistic transnational and intercultural dialog within four new theatre productions and its presentations in sixEuropean countries. At the same time it provides impulses for the younger theater generation in five steps: 1. European wide well-known and experienced theater makers each select two young colleagues – who work together to create a newperforming arts work. 2. These new productions will then be realized in a network of theatres and festivals of different European countries. 4. The new theatre works will be presented to the general public of a wide range of European countries. 5. Mentors, young artists and producers exchange their experience in a workshop/symposium Objectives: To sensitize established artists from different backgrounds (mentors) to the successive generation of artists. To install a project inherent intercultural and transnational dialogue between mentors and younger artists. To make available to young artists the expertise of experienced theater artists (mentors). To publicize this model for supporting artists to a European professional theater community. To give young artists who have already presented their first promising works the opportunity to present a new work on an European level, co-produced by renowned theaters and festivals. Le projet IDEOGRAM est né de la collaboration croisée entre différentes équipes de comédiens et de chercheurs, et de leurs circulations enGrèce, en France et en Turquie, depuis 2005. Il s'inscrit dans le cadre de la recherche théâtrale. A travers nos travaux de création, derecherche et de diffusion, nous avons constaté des divergences très profondes entre les manières occidentales et orientales de concevoir lesarts de la représentation. Ce constat nous a menés à nous interroger sur ce qui fonde l'identité théâtrale européenne. Nous avons choisi deréunir nos trois pays, entre lesquels les divisions manifestes que nous avons pu observer dans la pratique du théâtre, correspondentégalement à la sphère politique. En confrontant perception orientale et occidentale des arts de la représentation, notre projet pourraitcontribuer, à sa mesure, à la définition de l'identité culturelle européenne. Pour cela, notre objectif général est de créer un groupe de recherches transnational à travers l'Europe. Nous développerons des objectifs spécifiques dans cette perspective. Notamment, nous travaillerons à faire rayonner notre recherchethéâtrale dans l'ensemble de ses dimensions, à un niveau transnational. Pour cela, nos activités se déclineront en trois volets : création,recherche, formation. Nous tenterons de susciter l'intérêt de nouveaux partenaires potentiels. City Noises is a collaborative arts project using sound, media and digital technology as a means to relate to contemporary city life. Distinctivepractitioner based organisations from London, Budapest, Helsinki and Santander will commission artists to work together on a series ofevents and exhibitions taking place in each participating city over the project's life cycle. Each city exhibition will be created as acollaboration between the host organisation, the artists group and members of the local community. Artists will work with the practitionerorganisations to develop collaborative programmes involving local people, and these will culminate in a rolling programme of four events, onein each city. These collaborations will be shared on line ,and contributions from each partner organisation will feed into each event. In thisway, people from London, Budapest, Helsinki and Santander will be connected through a shared pan European artistic endeavour. The partners all bring something different to the table. Stream in London has led collaborative arts projects for many years, and is looking toextend the collaborative scope of its creative practice. Szovetseg39 is a gallery and artists grouping from Budapest using sound as a meansto link different environment. Crucible Studio from Helsinki adds academic weight, expertise in practice based research and connectionsthrough to intellectual networks. Documenta has an excellent track record in the use of creativity as means to engage with changingenvironmental issues. The strength of City Noises lies in the diversity of skills and the mutual interest in using a collaborative, iterativeprocess to understand and engage with the post modern city. Evaluation is a key part of the process. The partners will use it as means to understand their work and to leave a legacy for others wishingto develop similar projects in the future.

ChoreoRoamEurope will bring together nine international choreographers per year, chosen by the partner organizations in their territories.The choreographers will experience residencies, workshops, research seminars, presentations of their work, debates, meetings with localscenes, in five Member States of the EU (Croatia, Italy, Spain, The Netherlands, United Kingdom). Choreographers will research, share,challenge and review their work together in secure environments, under the guide of prepared experts, stimulating their working practicethrough a dialogue across cultures. Geographical displacement and mobility will generate stimulating meetings and confrontations withdiverse cultures, territories and artistic scenes. During the residence, a visual artist and a writer from the host country will be involved, andthey will follow the creative process and will develop a documentation. Each residence will be concluded with a presentation, open to thepublic, on the specific and unique works developed by the nine choreographers, with the aim of creating an immediate confrontation-meetingwith the local community and artistic scene. For the occasions representatives of the partners organizations will meet in each hosting country,they will present the project to the local dance scene and to the audience. They will facilitate feedback dialogues with the audience after thepresentation of the nine dance works. They will monitor the implementation of the project and share feedback with the participants andamong them. The writings will be collected into a single publication per year, including interviews, good practices and texts written by writerswho followed the actions, in the languages of the countries involved and translated in English. The work of the filmmakers and the results ofthe choreographic research works, will be published in a DVD which will have the widest possible international circulation, together with thepublication.

TouristPromotion ofArchaeologicalSites along theroad Aquileia-Viminacium

T-PAS project aims at connecting three ancient Roman towns in Italy, Slovenia and Serbia that is Aquileia, Emona (the ancient Ljubljana) andViminacium (Kostolac, close to Belgrade). During the Roman Empire, a route linked Aquileia to the Black Sea through Emona andViminacium. These three archaeological sites will work together for a joint promotion of the route and of the sites along it. This project willlead to the realization of the first concrete foundation of a European Network of Archaeological Sites. The project is composed of three sections: we start with a socio-economic analysis aimed at benchmarking the state-of-the-art and thetourism demand and supply in order to develop innovative transnational approaches for increasing employment and business attractiveness.It will be realised involving the population and bearing in mind AGENDA 21 for Culture. The second part is the promotion of the Roman route:we intend to create tourist packages, work with primary schools organising laboratories and deepen the knowledge of the road. The lastsection of the project consist in three study visits for cultural operators in each of the archaeological sites concerned. It will foster both theexchange of best practices and the transnational mobility.

The project’s main idea is to promote cultural heritage at a very local level. To achieve this goal, a special focus is put on the physical andmental accessibility of castles in order to improve their cultural offer towards disabled people. The project aims at building a network ofEuropean castles coping with the same challenges to develop synergies at a European level. Thus, three specific objectives have been drawn: 1. To make an analysis of the current state of the welcome of disabled public: Some partners have developed an enough expertise in thisfield to help other partners to assess their needs. Then specifications will be elaborated in order to set up trainings for castles' staffs.(See 2) 2. To set up a cultural policy towards disabled people: the aim is to share best practices on the implementation of accessibility measures.Castles' staffs will indeed be trained to professional practices of the welcome of disabled people. So they will get the necessary methodologyto implement adapted tours and workshops. All these professional tips will be compiled in a guidebook. This toolbox is meant to be used notonly by project partners but also by non partner castles or cultural organizations. During meetings, different issues will be tackled in order to give rise to a mutual exchange of experiences and practices, such as involvementtechniques of local associations in the welcome of disabled visitors and the creation of interpretative tools. A monitoring of trainings will beorganized and will include the basis of a charter for castles which fulfill all elements of a good welcome of disabled people. 3. To promote castles through their “local fabric”: partnerships with local organizations will be created or reinforced. The project willparticularly focus on short films made by artists and disabled people to improve the accessibility of disabled people to the usual culturalactivities offered by all partners.

Fünf der europäischen Mitgliedstheater haben sich nun zusammengetan, um eine Forschung zum Thema der „Liquiden Grenzen“ aufverschiedenen Ebenen in Gang zu setzen - mit Inszenierungen, die auf gesammelten Dokumentationen beruhen, die erzählte Geschichten,moderne Mythen mit den antiken verbinden, mit Workshops von hochkarätigen Regisseuren und internationalen Schauspielern, mit Arbeitenverschiedener Schauspielschulen: Theater, das sich mit seiner Geschichte und seinem Ursprung, mit der es umgebenden Gesellschaft undden politischen Relationen der verschiedenen teilnehmenden Nationen beschäftigt, mit den europäischen Meeren - und ihrem anderen Ufer. Jedem der Theater wird zu Beginn des Projektes eine Phase der Recherche und der vorbereitenden Workshops zur Verfügung stehen.Schon in dieser ersten Phase sollen Dokumentationen in Film, Foto und Schrift das Projekt begleiten, die über die Projekthomepageveröffentlicht oder in einem Videokatalog gesammelt werden. UP TO NATURE is an interdisciplinary production festival for experimental theatre, dance, music, live art and performance art in Vienna (A),Bristol (UK), Kuopio (FI) and Oslo (NO). The partners will produce a series of fife unplugged performance productions for the greens andwoods of their cities. The coproduction partners brut Vienna, Inbetween Time Productions Bristol, Black Box Theatre Oslo and Anti Festival inKuopio agree to produce a festival in the recreation areas close to their cities for the outside but not for any venue. A minimum of fifeinternational artistic productions which will be presented in all four places will be co-commissioned. All artistic productions will basicallyrelinquish any theatre equipment normally provided by venues such as light, sound or stage systems. The program is an unpluggedperformance festival for the metropolitan audience in the greens outside the cities. The entire process of production and presentation will becritically reflected by theorists and arts reviews will be published within the international publication scheme of MASKA Ljubljana (SLO). European artists and companies are invited to produce unplugged performances dealing with issues of - ecology - climate change - natural resources & alternative energy - social stability - urban architectures - agriculture & gardening - flora & fauna The festival will happen during the warm months in 2012. The productions commissioned by the project will be available for furtherpresentations after the project is finished.

Kaunas Biennial TEXTILE'11: REWIND-PLAY-FORWARD is based on the concept of [con]textualized motion in time: past, present, andfuture. Visual art exhibitions under the notion REWIND will be revitalized by the contemporary dance and performance program PLAY, andintertwined by workshops, emerging artists' shows and international conference program titled FORWARD. Exhibition REWIND HISTORY,based on historical and educational aspects, will propose its program in several European countries - Lithuania, Estonia, Germany, Portugal,etc. Competitive exhibition REWIND PERONAL STORY will highlight the narrative aspect - personal or invented stories materialized throughtextile media will be installed into Kaunas museums and non-traditional spaces, which also will become the unique scenography for dancetheatre plays. REWIND INTO THE FUTURE program will present the smart and high-tech textile novelties and stress on experimental andcollaborative aspect: lectures, online video presentations from scientific labs, workshops with scholars and artists will let participants touchand be touched by high technology world. Contemporary dance and performance program PLAY will consist of internationally lead workshops and theater shows interrelated withREWIND (visual part of biennial) and will be realized through collaborative work among visual artists, choreographers, performers, smart-textile designers, and members of Fluxus network. Future-orientated program FORWARD will become the conceptual space where research, education and science meet: (i)16th ETNconference, which gathers more than 200 textile professionals from art, design, science, industry and even medicine fields and (ii)International students' and emerging artists' exhibition. Biennial interlinks more than 300 direct participants: artists, scholars, designers, performers, curators, volunteers, cultural workers from morethan 20 countries and unites more than 20 cultural institutions for creative collaboration.

ABC – THE ART OF THE BOOK This project aims to stimulate reading habits in children who read little or not at all by acquainting children in the age group 7 to 14 with the artof the book – with the ways books are made and marketed, starting with writing, then illustrating, translating, reviewing and performing abook. The project also addresses two groups in the field: young and established professionals. The events will be organized in two main streams: - During one school year (September 1010 – June 2011), each of the participating countries will organize five thematic workshops and otherevents connected with the art of the book. - The main event of the project, summarizing the results of the work during the school year, will be a Book Festival organized in Vienna,Austria. The novel aspect of the project is that the children will be acquainted with the media of the book in its entirety, i.e. starting from its creationand ending with its promotion. The project also aims to deepen and broaden the nascent cooperation and networking among institutions that already have experience ininternational cooperation and support for authors and artists’ mobility in the field of literature and media for children and young people in Eastand Central Europe. Through this cooperation the project aims to promote the mobility of writers and illustrators, as well as of their works; to help authors andillustrators exchange experiences and find fresh inspiration; to promote children’s reading, creativity and education, modern media, modernliterature and art; and finally to promote peace and better mutual understanding among young people in the region.

OPEN LATITUDES (2) Depuis 2008, les partenaires à l’origine du projet OPEN LATITUDES ont engagé des collaborations structurées sur le terrain de la productionet de la diffusion européenne de formes scéniques et chorégraphiques contemporaines. Vue à partir du champ de la danse, l’évolutionesthétique que l’on connaît renvoie à la nécessité de questionner les modes de production, de création et d’accompagnement de cesexpressions scéniques hybrides. OPEN LATITUDES (fin en mars 2011) laisse la place à OPEN LATITUDES (2) (début mai 2011), pour un déploiement des objectifs du projetenvers un champ artistique mieux défini (la « génération 2010 » en danse contemporaine), auprès de nouveaux partenaires (3supplémentaires, au sud et à l’est), dans de nouveaux territoires, et en offrant continuité et temps nécessaire aux artistes. OPEN LATITUDES (2) développera son action dans trois directions au profit des artistes soutenus : la constitution entre partenaires d’unfonds de coproduction supranational et à l’identité fondamentalement européenne ; la diffusion conjointe de pièces programmées et/oucréées chez les partenaires ; des temps de résidence substantiels offerts aux artistes en regard du temps de recherche nécessaire à cesprojets complexes. OPEN LATITUDES (2) renforcera en outre largement les aspects de médiation des publics. In a general way, the project will promote: - common European cultural roots, through the development of new musical/cultural products melting jazz, contemporary and traditionalmusic as a new way of expressing the different cultures and popular traditions - contribute to the creation of the “European common cultural area”, by fostering harmonised training and mobility paths for young artists The direct beneficiaries are 60 young musicians from Italy, Poland and the Netherlands. Thus the project fits well into the usual activities of community radio station.They rely on the active participation of volunteers broadcasting local, national and European issues. The project will provide these volunteerswith an online playground for active cross-border participation. According to UNESCO, the "intangible cultural heritage" means the practices, representations, expressions, knowledge, skills - as well as theinstruments, objects, artefacts and cultural spaces associated therewith -that communities, groups and, in some cases, individuals recognizeas part of their cultural heritage. The European Acoustic Heritage is a project aimed at the discovering and enhancing of the acousticenvironments and "soundscapes" of Europe as a part of the European intangible cultural heritage. The coordinator of the project is Axencia Galega das Industrias Culturais (ES) and the 4 coorganizers are Fundación Illa de San Simón (ES),Phonogrammarchiv (AT), Laboratoire Cresson (FR) and Tampere University of Applied Sciences (FI). The execution lasts 24 month, from may 2011 to april 2013 and the work programme includes 6 phases with different activities and products.It starts with the joint analysis of the European soundscapes and the launch of a European acoustic net platform. After the research and theselection of recordings a European Acoustic Heritage will be proposed at European level and disseminate through products aimed atshowing the diversity and richness. There are several works designed and produced in the Project: a research and recovery of historic recordings, reproduced with newtechnologies, published results as a multimedia book and a study with the acoustic spaces analysis. Other actions are be focused on sharingand disseminating the European Acoustic Heritage. A Travelling Exhibition with guided tour and pedagogical actions in the streets is carriedout in several locations throughout Europe. The final objective is to enhance this intangible value as a part of the culture, across the historyand the borders. The children are the main audience in different actions in order to make them aware and to promote a new sensibility for theaudible dimension of European urban and social spaces.

The PurPur project is based on the idea of exchange of experience rooted in different traditions. Based on the already working OAO project,which is dedicated exclusively to passing on an important Austrian cultural heritage, the Wiener Klangstil (Viennese Sound) with all itsdifferent facets and instruments and techniques), the project PurPur wants to take things one step further and compare different nationalmusic traditions, styles of sound, techniques and schools of compositions (including historical) with the Viennese Sound. During 8 auditions,members of the Wiener and Berliner Philharmoniker will select highly talented musicians in the partner countries and will then be responsiblefor the praxis-orientated training. In 2 seminars, 4 workshops and 4 concert projects including one opera project, the European participantswill gain a new view regarding their music tradition together with or compared to other traditions. They will also experience the famousViennese Tradition, going back all the way to Mozart and Haydn, and even earlier: Our Coorganizer Festival SEVIQC Bre ice will advise onquestions of Ancient Music. Centered around these projects and the participating co-organizers, Festival SEVIQC Bre ice and the KvarnerFestival, which will also provide concert opportunities in Croatia and Slovenia, and the other eight associated partners, we want to create adense, Internet based network, facilitating the exchange between musicians and teachers, but also topics and materials (scores andinstruments). One main topic of this network will be the question of mobility. With some small workshops, we will discuss questions ofmobility, their challenges and difficulties with the participants and publish solutions in the network. We also want to submit these solutions tothe European Commission.

Sagas and Eddas The Rediscovery of a European Cultural Heritage for the 21st Century The Icelandic Sagas and Eddas are fundaments of European history and of special relevance to the 21st century. The Sagas relate theevents of the settlement of Iceland between the years 870 and 1030. They include stories about the beginnings of society, about migration,the relation of one religion towards another, social problems and the basics of democracy. The Sagas are also of unique importance to the development of literature itself as they are the prototype of the modern realistic novel. TheSagas are also important documents of the development of the individual, as they include psychological character depictions that can becompared to the portrayal of individuals in Dante's Divine Comedy which was written at the same time. The cultural importance of the Eddaslies in the fact that their description of the heathen mythology of Odin and Thor were written by Christians. This makes the Eddas a rareexample of how one European religion perceived another. In 2011, these fundaments of European Literature will be presented to audiences in Iceland, Germany, Austria and Switzerland by means oflectures, readings, and media-events from May 1 2011 until the end of November 2011. Iceland is the Guest of Honour at the Frankfurt BookFair, the most important literature event in the world, in October 2011. A campaign to present the Sagas and Eddas in their original contexts would therefore have an educational element in the best sense.Furthermore, it would ensure and broaden the knowledge of a European cultural heritage, which has been (in form of the original medievalmanuscripts of the Sagas and Eddas) declared a world cultural heritage by UNESCO.

Since the start of the European Union and the entry of Central and Eastern European countries, the Roma and Sinti are the largest minorityin Europe. Their culture has a long history of travelling, music and dancing, and has been for many decades a great source of inspiration forartists, writers, composers, musicians and filmmakers. She thus has a major impact on European culture. But besides this the Roma and Sinti, such as the Jews, have a history of oppression and persecution, with the tragic climax of the 2th WorldWar. This last story is largely suppressed. The Requiem for the Auschwitz project is a link between this forgotten history, the situation as it is nowshaping up for them and the importance of the Roma culture for that of Europe. The Dutch musician and composer Roger sinto "Moreno" Rathgeb composed a requiem for all victims - Jews, Roma and Sinti, resistancefighters, homosexuals - from Auschwitz. This work has to be executed in the period 2011 / 2013 in five European countries by 75 professionalRoma and Sinti musicians, supplemented with choirs and soloists from the countries concerned. The performances are at each guest place the hub of a series of cultural events, exhibitions, conferences and screenings of films anddocumentaries, organized with the knowledge of the various partners and implemented in the participating countries. Intercultural encountersare ultimately the link between all parties. That's where virtuosity and knowledge come together in new partnerships. The project draws a historical line from past through present to the future and draws a geographic line from Western to Eastern Europe,where most Roma live. Ultimately, the project makes the cultural connection between citizens and Roma with a view: the crossing of borders. Through mutualunderstanding, cooperation and further development of subprojects distances can be bridged. Key is the fact that no common future will existwithout knowledge of each other and of the past.

The "Puppet Nomad Academy II" (PNA II) project will focus on intensifying the contents of meetings set up within the primal "Puppet NomadAcademy" (PNA) project. Inspired by “the nomads of beauty” from the period of the European avant-garde, we conceived the Project as some kind of puppetworkshops travelling from the East to the West. This time the action will flow in the opposite direction, from the W to the E. While the PNA project focused on transferring the traditional skillsof puppet making and their manipulation, the PNA II project focuses on transferring the traditional art and computer animations to oldtraditional theatres - to great masters of puppetry, and on exploring general usage of new technologies and multimedia in a traditional theatreenvironment. New technologies in puppetry that were in a way "invented" in Slovenia will be presented in countries having little experience inintertwining network arts with old and new media. The experience gained by MT as the producer of the world's first virtually animated puppetperformance in 3D in real time is very precious. The team of artists coming from MT, SI and N.Kazalište, HR, and participating in the projectVirtual animations and its development will organize seminars, workshops and computer animations for young artists from BY and AM.Young theatre artists from RS will join. The new stage of this project includes a totally special programme created by exceptional artists fromMiddle Europe (SK,CZ), W.Europe (BE) and Baltic states (EE) , who will supervise workshops/performances taking place in SI, AM and HR,and organized for puppetry amateurs and professionals, and for all those interested in usage of postulates of puppet art in therapeutic,educational and androgenic purposes. The final outcome is the PNA II presenting the results: from workshops to performances; rich exchange of texts, exchange of artists, workexperience (workshops, performances, puppets, music, set design), dialogue.

FRAGILE is based on the experience of the Norwegian choreographer Kjersti Engebrigtsen in dance with blind persons and similarexperiences of choreographers in Estonia and Portugal. The aim of this project is to exchange knowledge about dancing with blind/visually impaired persons and to enhance the integration ofvisually impaired persons in the performing arts through transnational collaboration. Objectives are that dancers, choreographers and thevisually impaired will be able to find a new “dance language” together and that professional dancers can enhance their working opportunitiesthrough new possibilities of expression. The project will cross art borders as well as country borders by including composers, costume and lighting designers and filmmakers fromdifferent countries. In addition special needs educators and dance teachers will collaborate with the project, this will raise their awareness forthe importance of movement for the visually impaired. The partners will collaborate through Learning Workshops and will create three new performances, which will be shown in 2013 anddocumented in three documentary films. The implementation of the project is divided in three main phases: 1. From September 2011 to July 2012 the Norwegian choreographer will hold seminars/workshops with choreographers in Estonia andPortugal for dancers and visually impaired persons from the partner countries. 2. In 2013 the three choreographers from Norway, Estonia and Portugal will develop new performances together with their dancers and thevisually impaired performers, who have some movement experience. 3. The production of three dance pieces will be completed in spring 2013, and be presented in Oslo, Tallinn and Lisbon. The results of the project will be communicated in a suitable way to professional dance milieus, relevant universities/research institutes,organisations for the visually impaired and public authorities through a Symposium in spring 2013 in Lisbon.

Composing withSounds:WideningElectroacousticMusicParticipation

Electroacoustic music making is open to everyone regardless of level, yet a gap exists between amateur and professional compositionapproaches. The Sound Organiser Experience is an international production project, bringing together high-level professional cultural andeducational institutions, schools and musicians of all ages. In order to introduce this music making to younger audiences, the SoundOrganiser software system will be created. The main objectives of CwithS are: 1) To establish European collaboration between groups of professional composers and amateur composers (11 years old upwards), allworking on a project in pairs with the same tools, exchanging sounds, intentions and composing two related works, eventually remixing eachother’s works, each one supporting and learning from the other. 2) To host a series of concerts at 6 professional sites presenting events oriented towards young people, where the project participants (e.g. 2pairs per event) will present their experience and their music (pieces of ca. 5'-7’) with music made in the partners’ countries, followed by aconcert for the general public. Concert downloads will be available online. 3) To develop a sound management tool, the Sound Organiser. It will contain high-level editing, processing and mixing functions simplified toa highly intuitive, user-friendly approach and work within an online learning environment to ensure that learners at all levels can gain anunderstanding efficiently. This environment will consist of relevant information, tools and tasks; it will evolve based on user input; furthermore,individuals’ work can be up- and downloaded, they can remix works, take part in an intercultural dialogue with their peers, and search forcollaborative partners. 4) To support dissemination of the project’s methods through a series of workshops at the end of the period as well as via print and onlinepublications.

EuropeanCemeteries:Gardens ofSouls, Diversity& Heritage

Among some of the most interesting heritages of the EU territory and its citizens are their monumental or significant cemeteries, witnesses ofour socio-cultural diversity, History and artistic movements. Through their structure (architecture, sculptures and mausoleums, green areas, churches, etc.) many significant cemeteries are a cleardemonstration of the artistic evolution of Europe, mostly between the Romanticism and Modernism. Some of them are also identified with thepersonalities buried within their walls (intellectuals, artists, writers, politicians, etc.), and some epitaphs are even studied for their literaryinterest. EUCEMET general aim is to highlight the importance of cemeteries and funerary arts as a significant part of European tangible and intangiblecultural heritage and memory, and thus deserve some special attention and specific planning and management. More specifically, the short-term objectives of the project pretend to identify and adopt a series of good practices in order to facilitate theaccessibility, opening and understanding of cemeteries to visitors ("MUSEALISATION" OF CEMETERIES) and thus, to increase the public-awareness on such monuments. To fulfil our objectives, the following multidisciplinary and complementary cooperation activities will be developped: a) 3 Thematic Workshops (and parallel study visits) - on Management of Services for Visitors at Cemeteries. - on Conservation & Restoration issues linked to Cemeteries. - on the Promotion of the Cemeteries and their surrounding territories b) Edition of 3 Q&A Good Practices Guides & Blog c) Production and international itinerancy of an exhibition of some 150 artistic pictures about our European Cemeteries. d) Development of a pilot project of "Augmented Reality Browser for Mobile Technologies" in European cemeteries e) Dissemination activities (in the local, regional & specialised media, as well as among ASCE members and other potential beneficiaries/users of our outputs)

Birmingham Repertory Theatre, Zagreb Youth Theatre, Dresden State Theatre and Teatr Polski Bydgoszcz will join together for the first timein this unique collaboration to develop a multi authored, multi lingual play, which will be inspired by the promotion of intercultural debate.Steve Waters, Tena Stivicic, Lutz Huebner and Malgortzta Sikorska-Miszczuk are four of the leading contemporary European playwrights andwill join forces to write one play, which will tour to the United Kingdom, Croatia, Germany and Poland. The premise will be the questions,which surround a 'contemporary European identity'. Do you have to agree to Europe to be in it? If Europe had a temple what would it be builtout of, are just some of the questions the writers will pose to audiences and community groups in each city. The writers will travel to eachothers' country exploring and exchanging creative development and writing traditions before writing a play together. The play will be producedin all cities and the creative team will be made up of artists from each country. A community engagement programme will run alongside thisprocess. Education officers in each country will work with a different group, for example elderly citizens in Poland and Muslim women in theUnited Kingdom. Each group will generate their own creative responses to the ideas that emerge through their own cultural and artisticexchange. These will be performed in their respective countries at the time of the production. A virtual discussion will be opened from thebeginning to enable any citizen of Europe or indeed the world to follow the story as it develops via blogs or engage in the debate via twitterand facebook.

STUDITE : Lesmanuscritsgrecs etbyzantins auservice dudialogueInterculturel

Le projet STUDITE vise à mettre en évidence les apports techniques et artistiques des manuscrits grecs et byzantins à l’histoire du livre engénéral, tant occidental qu’oriental et à montrer notamment comment ces techniques ancestrales influencent certains artistes du livrecontemporain. Ce projet démontrera comment un patrimoine commun constitué de plus de 50000 manuscrits conservés dans toutes lesbibliothèques d’Europe peut participer d’une meilleure connaissance historique et du dialogue interculturel entre les citoyens. Les activités sont : Act. I : Ateliers de création de reliures contemporaines inspirées des techniques de manuscrits byzantins avec expositions itinérantes desreliures ainsi créées. Act. II : Missions interdisciplinaires transnationales d’observation des manuscrits grecs et byzantins. Act. III : Développement d’un protocole commun européen pour l’analyse, l’étude et la reproduction (par le transfert de supports) desmanuscrits. Act. IV : Séminaires internationaux sur les caractéristiques des reliures byzantines et leurs atouts pour la conservation du patrimoine L’ objectif général du projet STUDITE est de susciter l’intérêt européen pour un patrimoine culturel partagé avec l’Asie mineure et notammentavec la Turquie berceau de l’art byzantin. Rappelons que ces manuscrits ont largement circulé grâce à l’humanisme de la Renaissance.Pour atteindre cet objectif, il est nécessaire de favoriser les possibilités d’accès à cet héritage culturel trop méconnu. Grâce à unecoopération transnationale sur les connaissances techniques et historiques de ces manuscrits il sera possible d’établir des protocoles detravail et d’échange. La conservation de ces manuscrits est essentielle car ils nous ont transmis la majorité les textes antiques connus, soitdirectement soit à travers les traductions latine ou arabe. Il s’agit donc bien de mettre en valeur l’espace culturel partagé par les européens afin d’encourager l'émergence d'un sentiment européen.

Das Projekt fördert aktiv die transnationale Mobilität von Forschern / Kulturakteurenunterschiedlichster Disziplinen aus 7 EU-Mitgliedsstaaten insbesondere im Rahmen von Expertentreffen, Seminaren, Unterrichtung vonLaien und einer int’l Abschlusskonferenz. Durch die Nachzeichnung von Burgen als Träger europ. Geschichte wird ein kulturübergreifender Fachaustausch stattfinden, wobei derwissenschaftliche Nachwuchs und interessierte Laien aktiv einbezogen werden. Das Projekt wird in kulturhistorischer, denkmalpflegerischer und wissenschaftlicher Hinsicht einen Beitrag dazu leisten, zentrale europ.Burgenlandschaften als Träger von Geschichte und Kulturachsen wiederzubeleben. Darüber hinaus wird ein Grundstein gelegt für dieSicherung dieses einzigartigen kulturellen Erbes auf Grundlage aktueller Erkenntnisse. Lux Scientia aims to celebrate the beauty that comes from light, darkness, science and art. It explores how these things are articulated,expressed and interpreted differently in a trans-national European context. Three highly innovative, successful light festivals in UK, Poland and Estonia will play host to three commissioned pieces, each exploring thescientific and aesthetic aspects of light. Three incredible artists, highly distinguished in their field, Simeon Nelson (UK), Dominik Lejman(Poland) and Leonardo Meigas (Estonia), will create the installations, which will be developed with the three cities in mind, and rebuilt withinsite-specific contexts at each festival. Lux Scientia will be curated in a way which appeals to the widest possible audience. The project will build on the already positive economicimpact of each festival, in the aim of building a sustainable outline for future European collaborations. Promoting the cities as places ofdynamic discussion and innovative art will promote the visibility of each city as European cultural hubs, leading to higher levels of tourism. Lux Scientia will seek to create curiosity in scientific and cultural dialogues. The festivals will partner with academic institutions to develop asymposium at each festival. Each symposium will bring together the public, scientists, cultural experts and artists. The content of thesymposiums will be realised as the artworks develop, which offers an alternative to the perceived stiff nature of scientific discussions. The academic approach to stunning, vibrant light festivals aims to deepen the grand spectacle, contributing towards long-term sustainabilityof the project by giving it an educational foundation. The co-organisations all strive to delight and inspire through the spectacle of light. LuxScientia will bring together three passionate curators who have a wealth of expertise in developing and investing in long-term Europeancollaborations.

In this project a consortium of museums and research organizations from 3 European countries explore the possibilities of new visualizationtechniques, in order to give a new perspective on the ancient European culture of the Etruscans. The project has two main objectives: - International cooperation in the development of presentation techniques, to be presented during an exhibition in the Netherlands, Belgiumand Germany, and for permanent use in Italian museums. - 3D visualization (scanning, reconstruction and presentation) of Etruscan tombs and collections. The project aims at improving the creation, access, management, sustainability and preservation of Virtual Heritage on Etruscan collectionsand to improve an effective knowledge dissemination. It will enable and support cultural heritage institutions to create, run and exchangedigital 3D reconstructions. The groundbreaking inter-connection among the research field of 3D visualization, users and archaeologicalmuseums will be obtained through a program of meetings and by monitoring the process of creating, producing and the implementation of the3D visualizations. For the first time innovative 3D techniques will be used to make reconstruction of Etruscan tombs, that will enable the museums to presentthe context of Etruscan grave tombs in a new way and to a large public, in order to better show and understand these tombs as well as theirarchaeological objects. The partners will bridge the gap between museums and visual media production companies: they will cooperate in theproduction and, most importantly, the dissemination of the 3D reconstructions. The 3D visualizations will form a prominent part of the exhibition in the participating museums. After the closing of the last exhibition, thevisualizations will be presented to Italian museums as a new media addition to their museum galleries. If this pilot project proves successful,similar cooperation projects will be made possible.

Für das Projekt "Eurolog - europäischer Dialog über antike Kulturen als Instrument zum Verständnis der fremden heutigen und vergangenenKulturen" haben sich vier bedeutende kulturhistorische Museen zusammengeschlossen: Das Badische Landesmuseum Karlsruhe, dasArchäologische Museum Iraklion, das Archäologische Museum Alanya und die Musei Archeologici e Polo Grande Campidoglio von Rom.Zudem ist das Musée Bardo in Tunis ein assoziierter Partner. Ziel ist es, den interkulturellen Dialog zu fördern und Menschen verschiedenerKulturkreise und Altersstufen ihre gemeinsamen antiken Wurzeln zu verdeutlichen. Dafür wird eine neue, innovative Methode zur Vermittlungund Kommunikation für Museen, historische Stätten und Gebäude entwickelt, angewendet und etabliert. Die konkreten Projektaktivitätensind: Eine gemeinsam erarbeitete Wanderausstellung, ein Leitfaden für Fremdenführer, ein Kinderbuch, eine Software für Smartphones undeine Summer School. Die geplante Laufzeit des Projekts ist 24 Monate. Durch die Etablierung dieser Mittel werden auch in Zukunft einegroße Zahl vor allem junger Menschen in Europa und den angrenzenden Ländern angesprochen, so dass eine Fortsetzung desinterkulturellen Dialogs auch nach Projektabschluss in Aussicht steht. Das Volumen des Projekts beträgt insgesamt: 383.857,21 Euro.

Our project 'Circus of Hip Hop' hosts a number of activities, that enables new intercultural performance work to be presented withinmulticultural international festival. Stage 3: Gdansk/Poland, an evaluation meeting looking at all aspects of the project and the development of a strategy for continuedcooperation. Young Europe2: MultilingualCreation andEducation inTheatre

The European Theatre Convention develops during 2011 - 2013 the second edition of the artistic education programme ‘Young Europe’focusing on youth theatre, theatre education and multilingualism in theatre. The general aim is to produce new multilingual plays with and foryouth in close collaboration with young theatre professionals who will be working across Europe, through workshops and creation in order todevelop the innovative tools needed by theatre to engage a dialogue with the youth of today interrogating the role of multilingualism andcultural diversity in Europe. Eight theatres initiate four co-creations and develop four new plays written in and translated into eight languages to produce seven newperformances staged and circulated in European schools and theatres with the ambition to further enhance the development of a Europeandrama repertoire for young audiences. A conference and a festival with a Young Europe Talent Campus will be part of the project offering ajoint platform for all project participants to exchange and build long lasting relations beyond their national working environment on a Europeanlevel. Building upon the achievements and experiences of the first ‘Young Europe’ edition (2008 – 2010), the project will be carried on during thenext two years with new partners in new countries to develop sustainable artistic education structures. But ‘Young Europe 2’ will take theproject further: Not the differences and comparisons each partner faces and makes when working with each other are of central interest, butthe common artistic achievement based on our diverse and joint knowledge, collectively gathered with young people and theatreprofessionals coming from the north, west, middle, east and south of Europe. With ‘Young Europe 2’ we want to contribute to create artisticworks in the field of drama theatre for young audiences that is representative for our European cultural shared area and will serve asreference for generations to come.

The aim of the project is to create a framework for the professional stuff of four European partner theatres to exchange, share experience,experiment and create together on the European level in a new and innovative way in combining puppet art with several various forms of artranging from music and fine arts to literature. Primarily each partner puppet theatre will create a performance based on the composition by afamous classical (or contemporary) musician from each partner’s countries. In addition, an international puppet art team composed of both puppeteers (2 persons/theatre) and creative stuff members is to be formed.This specific group will create a fifth common performance in virtue of a composition written by a contemporary musician. Furthermore during the first year of the project (2011-2012) the following set of common activities will take place in each of the partner puppettheatres: - Workshops for the puppet actors of the partnership (focused on various professional topics), where they can acquire the use of some lessknown puppet techniques. - Professional symposiums will take place with the participation of the creators of the performances. - Common performance rehearsals will take place in the partner countries’ puppet theatres, one after the other. The rehearsals will take placefour times in total minimum 10 rehearsal days/meeting. - A special play called “Our Folk-songs” is also a performance which is going to be prepared during the project. Every puppet theater willsuggest a well known national folk-song to inspire the others to make some short puppet studies. The so-called Round Festivals in the partner countries: Bialystok, Subotica, Tirgu Mures and Eger are scheduled for the second year of theproject (2012-2013). The programme of these festivals comprises the six performances created during the first year of the project and theaccompanying programs.

The project Jagiellonian Art Network in Central Europe (JANICE) has been initiated by 4 museums and one research institute based inPoland, the Czech Republic and Germany with the intention to strengthen their cooperation in the fields of research, museology andeducation. It is headed jointly by the House of Brandenburg-Prussian History in Potsdam and the Research Centre for the History and Cultureof Eastern Central Europe in Leipzig. Project partners are the National Museum and Royal Castle at Warsaw as well as the CentralBohemian Gallery in Kutná Hora. Through this project the cooperating institutions aim to create greater public awareness of the commoncultural heritage of Central Europe and make it accessible more widely. JANICE centres upon a collaboratively conceived and organized exhibition to be shown in all three countries. This exhibition displays the artand culture of Central Europe during the era of the Jagiellonians, the most powerful European dynasty c. 1500, presenting the manifoldcultural traditions of this epoch as well as its intense artistic network and exchanges. For the first time these phenomena are shown within ahistorically accurate framework transcending national boundaries. Hence the exhibition forms a vital contribution towards a morecomprehensive and challenging perception of Europe, opening up perspectives which have thus far been obstructed by nationalistinterpretations of the past. Multi-national expert knowledge as well as artefacts are drawn together for the first time and thus provide newscholarly insights and a crucial impetus for further research. JANICE comprises the cataloguing of the Jagiellonian dynasty's cultural heritage for the central exhibition project and its respective regionalcornerstones (including research, documentation, and conservation); flanking events; and collaborative education and publicizing projectsaiming at a general public. It is only the central component that funds are being applied for.

The project "MainAge" is a cooperation project that uses material culture designed for children's care and use, to investigate contemporaryEuropean childhood. It aims to recover and value the recent memory of childhood (communicated through objects, images and oral history)as a system of transmitting and sharing local values and cultural identity inside the European Culture Heritage. The project has an EU dimension through fostering the cooperation between cultural professionals and artists in the field of cultural tangibleand intangible heritage. Therefore, the project shall provide a common working platform for exchanging research methodologies, exhibitiontechniques, know-how on collecting and displaying the childhood culture. The specific objectives are: setting up a collection of Childhood memories, by means of anthropological field research and interactiveworkshops; creating a Virtual Museum of Childhood on an integrated multinational data base accessible worldwide; developing andpromoting a comprehensive methodology on documenting, analyzing, interpreting and communicating childhood culture, based onknowledge transfer among the organizers; involving volunteers in the activities of the project (documentation and practice); disseminating themethodology of collecting oral memory and creating a virtual museum, disseminating the results of the project in other EU cultural areaswithin a specific research network. The project is addressed to researchers in social sciences, educators, curators, children and elderly people, volunteers. The results of theproject (exhibitions, data base, virtual museum) are addressing a wide range of public, covering all ages. Childhood heritage means material values as well as intangible creation, differing from one cultural area to another. Studying and displayingthis patrimony, as a coherent source of nowadays European mentalities and cultural identities brings added values to the internationalanthropological research.

The project PARN (Physical and Alternate Reality Narratives) designs, develops, creates, exhibits and analyses contemporary forms forstorytelling in a pan-European context. PARN recognises that the current trend for complex multimediated narratives is not just a passing fadand acknowledges that today's culture is progressively more explorative, pluralistic and networked. PARN investigates the ways in whichphysical spaces can be imbued with elements; media, objects, texts, interactions and their arrangements, in order to effectively express anarrative situation. In this sense PARN is investigating contemporary narrative practices as they emerge from the confines of the stage andscreen, becoming immersive situations within which a story is expressed as a completeness. This project integrates two main threads that span the spectrum of interest in emerging narrative forms. Physical Narrative can be understoodas a theatre without actors where the spectator becomes a visitor to the space and explores the environment in order to discover thenarrative embedded with it. Alternate Reality Narratives can be understood as storyworlds that impinge upon our daily reality via media andobjects, forming a smooth blending of the narrative environment and everyday life. PARN incorporates strong streams of cultural production, professional development, community outreach, exhibition and dissemination inorder to create a wide contribution to European added value throughout the activities of the project. PARN operates as a learning situation forprofessionals and an interested public as well as a research environment for artistic and aesthetic research into these emerging fields. As acultural development and exhibition project PARN investigates trans-European and transdisciplinary narrative practices of interest to aprofessional audience as well as the general public.

Or avec le retour en force de l’Art & craft, leur glas n’a aucune raison d’être sonné !La designer Hollandaise Kiki Van Eijk qui vient de coréaliser ses premières pièces avec les artisans de Murano, parle même de « designingby making »… Si l’alliance de la dimension conceptuelle du designer et l’excellence de la main du verrier est en marche, elle reste cependantle fait d’individus à la pointe et isolés. D’où l’opportunité d’un tiers rassembleur d’envergure européenne pour poser, du Nord au Sud et d’Esten Ouest, de façon ouverte et structurante, l’équation « design + artisanat » dans le monde du verre contemporain. Moins dans l’éclat quedans la stratégie, le calendrier d’actions de « Glass is tomorrow » s’appuie sur des workshops créatifs, fédérant des designers et dessouffleurs de verre plutôt jeunes et assurément remarqués, non seulement susceptibles de retravailler ensemble mais aussi de faire desémules. Fresh TracksEurope: NEWARTISTICIDENTITIES

The new network Fresh Tracks Europe (FTE) has made a long-term commitment to the artistic development of the youth dance sector. Thenetwork has been founded by partners from The Netherlands, Belgium, Austria and Germany and also connects with partners from Estonia,Denmark, Sweden and Scotland. These eight partners together initiate NEW ARTISTIC IDENTITIES (NAI), a programme that stimulates 40 young choreographers from theyouth dance circuit in Europe in their individual artistic development and shares results with an audience throughout Europe. Het Lab Utrecht(NL), Tanzhaus nrw/Düsseldorf (D), Kopergietery/Ghent (B) and Dschungel Wien (AT) each organize a ten-day ENCOUNTER around atheme. The artists have the opportunity to meet, to reflect on their own work, to focus on certain themes, to involve the young audiences intheir process, to initiate new collaborations and to show performances to a audience. Each ENCOUNTER has three levels: 1. Workshop of exchange between the choreographers and experts 2. Expert meeting with the choreographers, the FTE partners and the local professionals. 3. Presentation of the performances of the NAI choreographers during the local event/festival to an audience. After four encounters the NAI TOUR will travel to three international festivals in Belgium, Austria and The Netherlands, strongly involving abroad audience. The NAI TOUR consists of: 1. Three NAI performances (full performances by participating choreographers) 2. a presentation of the NAI publication about the latest European developments in youth dance 3. and a symposium to discuss the position of youth dance in Europe, evaluate the project NAI and to set new goals for the future. NAI stimulates the innovation of contemporary youth dance and involves professionals and different audience groups in the innovation of theart form. NAI has a thorough marketing strategy, that is supported by the marketing investments of the eight partners.

‘Feria de Fronteras’ is a new cultural and multi-disciplinary project proposed by four cultural partners coming from Belgium, France, Serbiaand Bosnia-Herzegovina. The idea is to set up a creative but well structured, multi-disciplinary and artistic performance about borders,mobility and cultural identity in different European regions between May 2011 and April 2013. ‘Feria de Fronteras’ will not only launch a discussion about the impact of borders on young artists coming from countries such as Bosnia-Herzegovina or Serbia, it will also invite people from other European regions to consider the impact of borders in their own lives. ‘Feria deFronteras’ primairily be an artistic project consisting of two aspects: the musical creation ‘Tijuana Tango’ and a visual installation-exhibition‘Viva Visa’. Both creations will come together in the performance ‘Feria de Fronteras’ and will be imbedded in a global process that will befollowed by two photographers and two documentary makers from the different regions. Finally, at the end of the project, the entireperformance will be presented as a CD-DVD-pack and will be shown on the regional TV-station from the four regions. The project will give an opportunity to young artists from the Balkan-regions and the Eurometropole-region to collaborate and to expand newartistic forms across the borders. ‘Feria de Fronteras’ will also stimulate the discussion about the integration of Balkan-regions within the EU.More precisely, our project wants to underline the importance of intercultural dialogue and mutual respect. Instead of the unilateral impose ofrules to Balkan-regions, our project also wants to show that existing EU-regions can benefit from collaborating with Balkan-regions in aconstructive and positive way, bringing together the important cultural and historical background of all artists engaged. ‘Feria de Fronteras’wants to contribute to the global cultural heritage within the EU.

The project "Multiculturalism in Music" is designed to promote the culture of non-western nations in SE Europe, through presentation of theircontribution to contemporary culture in general, and contemporary music in particular. Music is selected as a form of cultural expression thatis both unhindered by language barriers and most readily recognised by large audiences of all contemporary art forms. The project consistsof four elements: a) production of a "music exhibition", presenting traditional and contemporary music of non-western cultures; b)performances of famous musicians from non-western cultures (on festivals and concerts); c) public pannel discussions, discussing theinfluences of non-western cultures in European contemporary culture; and d) promotional and media campaign, presenting the issue ofmulticulturalism in the context of contemporary music and popular culture. This project is a pilot, implemented in the SE Europe region, with participation of organisations that stand behind three major pop musicfestivals: EXIT (Novi Sad, Serbia), IN-MUSIC (Zagreb, Croatia) and TAKSIRAT (Skopje, Macedonia). These three events, gathering around250 000 visitors each year, have been initiated with a desire to encourage inter-cultural exchange through pop culture, and have grown tobecome large-scale, highly visible events that can carry a message of how important music of non-western and minority cultures is tocontemporary music in particular, and our European culture in general. This pilot project is meant to grow into a project presenting non-western and minority cultures to European cultural audiences, aiming tospread to as many European countries and pop music festivals as possible.

One of the major problems of young curators and artists is that they lack the opportunity to promote themselves internationally. As a directresult of this, they usually concentrate on collaborations on a national level. This makes, that especially the young curators obtain anoutstanding knowledge of the national art-scene and the up-and-coming local artists who have not yet been included in the well-knowninternational art circles. But their projects, exhibitions, works and events are - although highly interesting - fairly unknown on an internationallevel. Curators Network is a project of five curators and their cultural non-profit organizations from Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romaniaand Spain which opts for interconnecting and exchanging the local knowledge for the mutual benefit of all implicated parties: artists, curatorsand cultural organizations. The exchange of knowledge will be realized through an event that each curator organizes in his home country and to which he invites theother members of the network: It consists of a portfolio review with 20 national artists, where the other members of the network are thereviewers and a "Fair of Ideas", an informal meeting with panel talks, where local cultural players get together with their internationalcounterparts. The information of the 100 artists that will be presented in the reviews will be published in a database, which is planned to be the core of aEuropean database . After finishing the five events, the members will curate an exhibition-project which will take place simultaneasly in five art-spaces of Madrid,featuring 10 of the artists that have been presented at the portfolio review.

RACIF - Robots and Avatars - Collaborative and Intergenerational Futures An intercultural, intergenerational and interdisciplinary cultural exploration around a near future world of collaborations between robots,avatars, virtual worlds, telepresence and real time presence within creative places, cultural environments, interactive entertainment and playspace. RACIF addresses issues, ethics and concerns for European cultural professionals producing work involving new representational forms ofthemselves and others in virtual and physical worlds. It examines multi-identity evolutions and virtual mobility in increasing blended virtual/physical domains and the creative collaboration and training methodologies emerging. It explores the emergence of the European (virtual/physical) citizen. Through a distinctive European programme of cultural activities co-ordinator body>data>space (GB) and co-organisers KIBLA (Sl) and AltArt(RO) plus 11 associate partners (from 5 European countries and 1 third country) will engage in a dynamic and deep collaboration process todeliver RACIF. An interwoven set of activities includes artist commissions, a touring exhibition, learning experiences, debates, a campresidency, a website research resource and a book. These activities will engage a wide range of artists, cultural players and recognised experts. The project will network knowledge gained intointergenerational cross sector connections throughout the European Union and internationally. RACIF will embed itself in the proposed 2012European Year of “Active Ageing and Intergenerational Solidarity” and present into Maribor 2012 - European Capital of Culture. It will be a driver for change and growth, a learning exchange enabling a value chain of shared expertise from research to product to public.The long term aim is a sustained co-operation, a knowledge network that will extend the understanding of working and creating in a C21stworld of virtual/physical co-operations.

Sweet 60s is a long term research and exhibition cooperation between art- and educational institutions as well as media working in Europe,West and Central Asia and North Africa. Involving a particular group of experimentally orientated initiatives, researchers and media in theregions, Sweet 60s investigates still hidden territories of the revolutionary period of the 1960s. While the ancient art and colonial histories of West Asia and the South Mediterranean countries of the Middle East and North Africa arefamiliar enough to an interested public in Europe, knowledge about Modernisms and neo- avant-garde in this wider postwar Europe is stillvery limited. This applies especially to the period of the 1960s: Conceptualism in the Caucasus, the impact of urban avantgardes in the Middle East andon the Arab peninsula, the neo avant-garde visual cultures of the decolonizing Maghreb – all these are stories still to be locally researchedand translocally told; histories not yet canonized, nor even locally known. One concern of Sweet 60s is to document and present this period inits marked originality and to mediate this to an international professional audience as well as to local and international general publics. Researching, documenting and displaying this epoch apears all the more urgent, now that so many witnesses are disappearing, and theirarchives vanish with them. The urgency of the project comes not just out of an historic interest, but is too driven by a political current. To holdthese histories of urban emancipatory movements and artistic practices of the 1960s visible may form a point of reference for aninternationalist, liberal and open young urban elite in the countries, living in an environment that is often affected by authoritarianisms andnationalisms of all kinds. Sweet 60s will be realized in a series of research platforms, educational programs, documentation and archivingactivities as well as exhibitions and print and electronic publications.

The project proceeds from the opinion that an open and truly democratic society is fostered through cultural dialogue, not only within itself butalso across its borders. The project is conceived as widening the public space for critical discussion on contemporary art in and among 4countries (Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina) to renew transnational cultural connections and reconnect to Europeancommon cultural space. The project aims to achieve this by strengthening critical reflection on contemporary art (art criticism) througheducating young art critics, online and offline publishing of art reviews and essays, connecting various actors in the cultural fields of literature,visual arts and performing arts from these four countries and from the EU and by providing transfer of knowledge and experience by meansof workshops, lectures and study visits. This is of particular importance at this specific moment considering the European Union prospects ofthese countries. Therefore, the project uses new technologies for reaching the widest possible audience in Europe and connecting it to thethemes the project is concerned with. The project tackles three main themes: dealing with the past, social change and identity. These themescan be contemplated only in a trans-national context as their understanding requires taking into account interconnectedness of cultural,national, historical, political and ideological forces at work. The specific objectives of the project are: 1. To create trans-national critical discourse on art in order to contribute to intercultural dialogue; 2. To develop critical reflection on contemporary art production by facilitating mobility of people and cultural works; 3. Multilingualism and cultural diversity provide the basis for a European identity. From this perspective, literary translation is a skill and an artthat sums up, enables and even expands European cultural unity. There is a gradually increasing awareness that literary translation is an important matter. But there is still a long way to go. PETRA puts literary translation in Europe on the agenda. It brings together the initiatives and expertise of translators’ organizations, umbrellaorganizations and networks, and, on top of that, it adds: - new initiatives - the voice of the individual translator - synergies - a global European vision and dynamics. PETRA is a campaign to promote and support literary translation in Europe: - it intends to set in motion beneficial changes in the field of literary translation. - it builds towards a European forum for literary translation. - it presents literary translation to a wider audience as an activity, adventure and artistic process that is both interesting and demanding. PETRA starts with a carthography project in which literary translation in Europe is properly mapped: best practices, actual problems andpossible solutions. This overview is the basis for the discussions at an assembly that will bring together translators and representatives oftranslators’ organizations from all over Europe. A publication with a number of recommendations will be launched and supported by agenuine awareness campaign and public and professional events. A think tank will investigate the future development of the platform ofEuropean literary translators. Field recording (sound recording outside of a recording studio) has become a medium in various artistic domains. Q-O2 (BE), MTG (ES),IRZU (SI) and CRiSAP (UK) started working a year ago on the project ‘Sounds of Europe’ which acknowledges the increase of field recordingactivity in music and sound art in recent years. The project aims to share and exchange artistic works which deal with the poetry of the soundof the world, as well as to share experience and knowledge. It also aims to exchange sounds themselves across borders, as field recording isa very accessible and democratic creative tool. We want to encourage not just simply hearing the world around us, but the value of listeningto it and recording it, thereby achieving an openness to our environment. By exploring and sharing sounds throughout Europe we aim tomake people sensitive to discovering both their familiar as well as unknown surroundings. With the 4 main partners, each with differentexpertises, we collaborate with several associated partners to organise Sound Exchange Workshops, lectures, some key-events and atraveling webproject. The project targets a public audience, as well as artists of all generations and cultural operators. Utilising the mainpartners’ experience and existing relations within the target groups, we implement a communication plan with help of different media. Withthe existence of a growing network of European sound-oriented organizations and sound artists, which has already successfully evolvedduring the preparation of the project, we believe we can inspire other organisations to join to cooperate Europe-wide. To make the exchangesof this network useful and practical, the cooperative activities and results of the project will be made available both on the ‘Sounds of Europe’website, and in a publication and audioreleases. With European support we will develop cross-border dialogue and collaboration, buildingand establishing a further exchange of ideas for the future.

Least CommonMultiple - Aproject from theDancing CitiesNetwork

The LEAST COMMON MULTIPLE project explores the relationship between dance, public space and the audience of eight cities in sixcountries in a pan European and interdisciplinary perspective, through the development of theoretical and practical actions fosteringintercultural dialogue and transnational mobility of cultural agents and products. The project aims to bring together curators, art organizations,dance companies, experts and academics working in the field of performing arts, visual arts, public space and site-specific works. In doingso, we would like to create a political, social and urban mapping of different areas of different European cities to open debates around thesocio-urban development of contemporary cities. The theoretical basis for the project will be the development of focus groups on "Art (specially dance), public space and community" withexperts of different backgrounds in the participant cities. Based on the discussions held, an artistic and innovative video dance will beproduced in 4 different cities as well as a special edition of the Dancing Cities Magazine (including extensive information on the developmentand results of the project, working therefore as a promotion tool for it). The project also wants to address the traditional gap between contemporary art languages and non-specialized audiences, bringing dancecloser to the community and facilitating its understanding. Use of ITC and new media will help in this objective by creating an online mapwhere everybody could add and watch short dance videos in public spaces of the participant cities, as well as an iphone app to discover theEuropean heritage through dance and the use of QR codes for artistic purposes.

European Network of Roma Culture (ENROC) is an initiative of Fundación CajaGRANADA. Engaged with a support of various Europeanpartners - Fundación Instituto de cultura (ES), Romano Pasos Research Center (SE), Municipalità of Gerace (IT), MOSTart (HU) - FundaciónCajaGranada will undertake a series of activities based on smooth investigation of Roma cultural and historical background in each partner-country. The research part of the project supposes strong collaboration between all the partners, experts, Roma artists and citizens. Theproject foresees an establishment of intercultural dialogue between European citizens and Roma minority through volunteer involvement intothe investigation activities - volunteer groups will visit Roma local districts in order to gather the cultural material (poetry, song lyrics,audiovisual material etc.). As a result of mutual work the European Network of Roma culture will be established and will find its place inVirtual Centre of Roma Culture with a wide access for users and interactive tools (as well the platform will contain working area which will belaunched after the kick of meeting in order to provide a strong feedback between partners and maintain them aware of the state of project´simplementation at the local level). On other hand, to enhance a cultural dialogue each partner will organize a local workshop with involvementof Roma artists, in this way fostering the awareness of European citizens and sensibilizing them with respect to Roma culture. Disseminationwill take a relevant place in this project - conference, didactic guide, publications, cultural meeting, local workshops and exhibition - all this willallow to involve high number of stakeholders and to conceive the sustainable basis for further collaboration within the created culturalnetwork.

“IN/VISIBLE CITY” is a campaign consisting of set of activities that use theatre and culture with an aim to help in promotion and improvementof minority rights by making the different minority groups and their cultures more visible. The cooperation between four theatres (DAHTheater from Serbia, Teatret OM from Denmark, Prodigal Theatre from UK and Art Media from Republic of Macedonia) began in early 2009after the success of the first “In/Visible City” in 2005 in Belgrade, and of the second “In/Visible City” in five cities in Serbia in 2008 (winning theERSTE Foundation Award in 2009). DAH Theatre decided, as we are all facing the same problem with discrimination and violence againstracial and ethnical minorities and their social exclusion, to bring this Action from local and national to more European level, especially aftersuccess of the pilot project in Norway in 2007-2008. This Action aims to achieve following: Raise public awareness about the rights of minorities, tolerance and equality - By using theatre event in a public transport where local and In/Visible City artists will perform together. Empower minority groups to defend their rights and cultural identity - Encourage them to express themselves in the most creative way. Provoke public dialogue about the rights of the ethnic minorities -Media will play important role in transmitting the messages from the Action. Educate young people in tolerance and ethnic minority rights – by offering them tools which are close to their spirit: theatre (dance, music,multimedia performances, etc) and art / culture in general. Besides, with the text of the performance, they will gather information fromdiscussions on the Round Tables. Involve local and international actors, creative people and human rights and minority organisations in the Action – Open towards other countries – We are in negotiations with Germany, Spain, Italy and Albania related to their participation in the project.

The project Homeless aims to promote circus theatre in its modern variations as a peculiar cultural expression of a Country and as a meansof social intervention. Project's purpose is topromote the exchange of circus artists across Europe, the spread in Europe of a new artistic production resulted from the creative dialogue ofartists of different nationalities and intecultural dialogue as an opportunity for enhancing the circus visibility and practical support on issuesrelated to social exclusion. Circus is a popular and immediate performing art which speaks an universal language and can be a vehicle toaddress difficult and important issues without losing effectiveness. Homeless wants to use this art and this language to recall some storiesthat have tragically united our continent and suggest a gentle delicate epiphany. Stories are those of concentration camps, both expressionsof Nazi Germany and Soviet Union period. Stories that reduce human beings to a minimum as a homeless as a "clochard" of mankind.Project partners come from Italy -whose geographical location and history gives the opportunity to look at the facts from a particular position:cause and victims at the same time- and two States of Eastern Europe : Hungary and Poland which lived close and painful tragedies of theconcentration camps. The project is divided into four significant steps: the training workshops, the creation of the show and its debut, the tourof the show and a conference on social circus.

On the one hand, the theatres that function as project co-organizers are geographically veryclose to each other (Prague, Bratislava, Vienna). On the other hand, albeit this vicinity and a common regional context of Central Europe, allthe three countries reside nowadays in very different cultural contexts. The topic of generation icons can be viewed as a ground on whichdifferences can be shown. This theme that is crucial for European cooperation is surpassing Central Europe. Therefore the project alsoinvolves more distant theatres from Northern Ireland and Spain, which will bring new meanings into central European dialogue in the form oftheir new dramatic and rehearsed readings. Moreover, the topic of generation icons is also attractive for European audience. This is why theproject involves application of interactive possibilities of new media. All in all, the project develops the theme of generation icons on variouslevels: regional diversity, European values, inter-generation dialogue, inter-field exchange, mobility of works of art and mobility of artists. Wewill work with the selected topic within a multilateral exchange in several levels: a local one (3 cities), a national one (3 European countries), aregional one (Central Europe) and European (other 2 European countries).

In this European level culture project AH-DEsign, contemporary, sustainable and accessible design meets different European audiences ofdifferent age groups. The project brings forth issues of creativity, social design and sustainability, and promotes intergenerational dialogue inthree European countries: Finland (Aalto University School of Art and Design), France (L'Ecole de Design Nantes Atlantique), and Italy(Politecnico di Milano). The project explores different forms of sustainable design and how they are perceived by users, consumers, andaudiences of different ages. The topic is important and current, as the elderly population of Europe is increasing so too is the urgency forsustainable design that considers both elderly and young people's needs. The design solutions developed in the project will be exhibited in a contemporary design exhibition that travels throughout all the participantcountries. The exhibition will travel in Milan, Nantes, and in Helsinki, introducing different people of different ages to contemplate, search, andcomprehend together how design can positively change and influence people's lives and lived environments. 90 people and 300 designconcepts will be traveling throughout the duration of the project. The central innovation of this exhibition is the development of sustainableand culturally accessible approaches to everyday life experiences, through sustainable design for young and elderly users and audiences.The project also formulates a new kind of network; linking local expertise and European design and activating local audience work betweenuniversities and cultural institutions.

This project will create a new, three-City European Orchestra ( TRIORCA) encouraging the composition of new classical music and of youngtalented musicians between three culturally-rich european cities: Norwich, Novi Sad, and Toulouse. The project will establish a high-quality international youth orchestra of talented musicians from three European countries, playing classical -including 3 new commissioned - works from each partner. Regular exchanges will enable at least 250 English, French and Serbianperformers (minimum age 16, maximum 25: especially those otherwise lacking cultural or financial accessibility) to play together in a range ofculturally important public spaces, to learn together, and from each other, tutored by professional teachers and conductors, employingculturally distinct, but interesting, methods and approaches. The short-term aim is to encourage the highest quality of public performance from talented, but inexperienced, performers; the middle termaim is to encourage professional playing and training aspirations. Longer term sustainability is achieved by giving purpose to active cooperation between the statutory state education bodies for young people,using the political catalysts of - emotionally highly-committed - twinning partners. The widest aim is, both by precedent and example, to help normalise and enrich cultural relations between talented musicians from the mostculturally-liberal province (Vojvodina) of an EU Candidate Country (Serbia), and those in two geographically-similar, culturally-important, EUregions (East Anglia, and Toulouse).

The goal of the interdisciplinary project Experiment and Excellence (1May 2011 - 31 January 2013) is to emphasise and promote the role ofinnovation in the development and advancement of a diversity of European cultural areas, positioning the art space as a territory withoutdefined political borders and artists - as unique trespassers interested in interaction and its products. The project aims to build a strong partnership between European countries: members of European Union as France, Lithuania, Finland,Latvia, and Croatia; Iceland as a representative EEA, and neighboring Russia and Georgia. The project in its essence is an attempt to emphasise that only through experiments facts of art are born and become textbook examples ofexcellence in the course of history. The programme of activities, culminating with the Cesis 2012 Art Festival Experiment and Excellence, reflects the multinational, creative andexplorative nature of the project. The project will ensure the mobility of art works and cultural actors by series of artistic events in participatingcountries thus encouraging intercultural debates to discover the roots of innovation within the context of the Europe of today while neverforgetting how important it is to keep in mind the lessons of the past. Therefore the project concept connects to a universal problem thattranscends specific geographical or historical contexts. Every activity and corresponding information will be documented and compiled in a unique multimedial publication Europe: Experiment andExcellence. Past, Present and Future. (published in January 2013) and will target wide audiences in European countries and also otherEnglish and Russian speaking regions thus providing a widest possible audience. The international team of the project coordinators consists of leading visual arts and music experts of each participating country thusensuring the level of artistic outcomes and professional management of the project.

AccessITplus is a continuation of the AccessIT project (http://www.access-it.org/eng), which is operating in Greece, Serbia and Turkey. It willbuild on and expand the work of the AccessIT project, to the following new countries: Croatia, Albania and both parts of Bosnia andHerzegovina (BiH). Bosnia and Albania are eligible for the programme for the first time this year. In this digital age, perhaps the most effective way to encourage widespread and democratic circulation of artistic and cultural works andproducts is by digital means. Internet-based services offer the end user the opportunity to select and view in their own homes - high quality,multimedia representations of works from a very wide range of Europe's artistic and cultural productions, from anywhere in the continent, intheir own language and set within their historic, thematic and geographic contexts. AccessIT is working to strengthen the skills of people working in public libraries, focussing in particular on the area of digital libraries and howpublic libraries can, first of all, digitise their content and subsequently make it more widely available by contributing to international digitallibraries initiatives such as Europeana... However: - The skills and competences necessary, are not widely available in cultural institutions at local or regional level in the proposed applicationcountries - The resources to accomplish this goal are not widely available or cost-effectively distributed: this is especially true of the three countriesfrom South-Eastern Europe - Croatia, BiH and Albania in which the work to be carried out in this proposal chiefly applies. In addition to extending the availability of the training and support to new target audiences in Croatia, Albania and BiH, the AccessITplusproject will allow time for the initial goals of AccessIT to show impact in the existing countries and also provide additional resources to furtherdevelop and improve the training courses.

The 2-year project develops an online and live concept, with a high quality online presentation of selected artistic work and two large-scale live events in Tallinn, Estonia 2011 and in Guimarães/Porto, Portugal 2012, with a distinctive focus on attracting new audiences. Eachyear an international jury selects max. 150 of the most original degree works from all arts disciplines. Out of these, 20-30 artists get theopportunity to present/perform live. The project facilitates an arts alumni network of young artists and offers training to the initiators. In orderto sustain the concept, the partners will assess/explore different formats for the further development of NE©XT. The University of Winchester,Faculty of Arts coordinates NE©XT, in partnership with a group of committed, experienced art schools, European Capitals of Europe and inalliance with the European League of Institutes of the Arts, connecting with the majority of art schools in Europe.

The project is related to the need of facilitating the encounter of artists and people from different countries, backgrounds, cultures in order tofoster reflections, debate, common artistic work about diversity and migration in the context of European communities, where theatre and artsare called to play their function of critical and civil awareness.The Project supports a cultural network of artists and cultural operators in theEuro-Mediterranean area, fostering mobility and the creation of a nomadic multi-language company (Nomadic Arts Company). A series ofactivities is carried out whose purpose is the encounter and common work between artists, cultural operators,young people, local populationwith different cultures and languages, coming from involved countries, each of whom bearer of a story of migration in his/her recent history orin the present. A path of research, workshops, artistic residencies in mobility is realized in Italy, Spain, France, UnitedKingdom,Greece,Cyprus, Malta. The work focuses on migration and on dynamics of inclusion/exclusion in contemporary society, as well ason the potential of creative means provided by diversity,meant as a vital source.The path of activities starts with four theatre workshops andpresentations in Greece,United Kingdom,Cyprus, Malta and culminates with three artistic residencies (with workshops, joint site-specificperformances, showcases, meetings, technical seminars), held in Spain, France, Italy. They involve cultural operators in mobility, forknowledge exchange and the creation of a joint performance that is played in three important sites connected to migration. Artists in mobilityare joint in the Nomadic Arts Company,as a concrete tool for intercultural dialogue. A web-site, a multilingual publication and a video areedited in order to support awareness on tackled issues among people and operators. Partners work in synergy and develop since thebeginning an activity of research on project issues.

The project MIO2012 will develop and expand as a combination of two fields: an Orchestra Academy (orchestral training) and Master Classes(soloists training, conducting), providing young musicians with studies (technique, artistic development, reflection, promotion skills) andperforming with top European artists and pedagogues, who will be collaborating as faculty, sharing their vast knowledge, giving the bestexamples, socializing and exchanging their extensive experience due to their international careers. The project is built-up on the establishededucational methods adding flexibility and sustainability in order to provide quality in the determined short time frame. Furthermore weencourage an intercourse between the soloists, the conductors, the leaders-concertmasters and the orchestra since those two fields of theproject interfere with each other at all times. This system creates the optimal conditions necessary for young artists to study and follow thedifferent stages of the process from studies to performance and being ready to be exposed on the professional level, providing them withmore they can get on a local level. Musicians from different countries will meet in Maribor annually. MIO2012 call for applications and auditions for young musicians (up to 35years of age) will be organised and promoted within Europe. MIO2012 will be brought to audience across Europe and beyond with concerts and live broadcasts during the project and audio/videomaterials afterwards. The project will have 250 participants yearly and is expected to have more than 50,000 people benefiting from it. The purpose of MIO2012 is to educate, promote, stimulate and connect talented musicians in order to achieve excellence in new culturalenvironment, and emphasize the cultural diversity that initiates social change. The musicians in the orchestra will perform as volunteers buton the other hand they will have the possibility to expand their knowledge and improve their employability.

Tracing Bosch and Bruegel is a pan-European art detective scenario involving technical art history and conservation. The project that willsupport the circulation of cultural and artistic works, provides skills exchange for professionals, and a public-focused programme with anemphasis on young people. The project brings together professionals from: - Art Museum of Estonia; - The National Gallery of Denmark; - University of Glasgow, Scotland. The project builds on research results of four paintings from the 16th and 17th -century Netherlands that reuse popular iconography inventedby Hieronymous Bosch and Pieter Bruegel I, presenting 'Christ driving the moneylenders from the temple'. As variations on a theme thecompositions are full of interesting stories, characters and symbols, offering many exciting opportunities to engage the general public andyoung people in particular in deciphering the codes and symbols. Technical Art History methodology is a new approach which combines art historical research with scientific analysis to gain insights into thepractice of creating art works; the public will virtually look over the shoulder of the painters in their studios over 400 years ago. The project offers a unique occasion to present the general public and specialists with the results from this collaboration to evaluate them indiverse European cultural settings through the development of three exhibitions: in Tallinn while a European Capital of Culture in 2011,where all studied works will be shown, with displays in Copenhagen and Glasgow, to offer an even wider audience the experience of theunravelling of these masterpieces through a range of connected activities. In this context, the pan-European team will use their collaborationas the basis for a mutual exchange of skills, introducing special expertise in technical art history, conservation and multimedia solutions fromindividual partners, leading to a sustainable European collaboration.

Due to rapid social change in Europe, many of the dwelling models that had been developed over the past two centuries now seem outdated.Well into the 20th century, residential planning was concerned primarily with the building of homes for inhabitants who, within a familystructure, often lived and worked in one location for their entire lives. However, radical changes in employment (restructuring of workingconditions, increasing flexibility, etc.), in social relations (changing gender roles, tendency towards growing individualisation, etc.), indemographic development (birth rate, migration, life expectancy, etc.) as well as within the family unit (single parents, one-personhouseholds, patchwork families, etc.) have led to the creation of new living arrangements in Europe. These have resulted in changing livingneeds which in turn require new housing forms and typologies. Despite having already been discussed for several years, satisfactorysolutions to these transformations and their consequences are still rarely to be found. Moreover, the debate on how housing models andarchitecture can function in a globalised 21st century (in their concrete, material forms as well as in their impact on the appearance of urbanconglomerates) is still in its infancy. What contribution can architecture, design, applied arts and urban planning make to contemporary housing policies that take into accountthese changing needs? This core question is the starting point for the planned interdisciplinary project LIVING TOMORROW (architecture, interior design, cityplanning etc.), which, through analysis of and reflection on various European living environments, seeks to supply initial answers to andvisions for these challenges.

The La Divina Commedia Theatre Project is a joint project of theatre artists from three EU border states – Finland, Greece and Portugal. Theorganisers of the Divina Project are Myllyteatteri, Art Syndicate and Colecção B, Associação Cultural. The project aims to develop a uniquelanguage of theatre and stage methodology by bringing together and building on the professional experience and knowledge of theparticipants in interesting geographical locations. In the Divina Project, Dante Alighieri’s work La Divina Commedia will be used to challenge the project group into a dialogue on ethical issuesand visions arising from our common European heritage, and to view the work from today’s perspective. The artistic ideas and skills of theproject group will be carefully assessed and developed in three workshops, a script brainstorming workshop in Finland, a kick-off workshop inGreece, and a starting point workshop in Portugal, in which students of a Portuguese university are invited to join the Divina Project. Daily rehearsals starts in Portugal in Aug 2011. La Divina Commedia will premiere on 20 Sep 2011 at a former marble quarry in Portugal, andon 16 Oct 2011 in an old industrial building in Helsinki, Finland. The geography and location of the venues play a significant role in theperformances. In Helsinki, there will be a public panel discussion on the themes and working methods of the Divina Project. By the end of Oct2011, an interim workshop will be arranged for the project group in order to summarise experiences so far and then proceed with the project.Between Nov 2011 and Apr 2011, the Divina Project will hold a training session and a performance in the Netherlands. Further plans alsoinclude performances, workshops and discussions, in other innovative locations. Rock-art has another problem. It is fixed in stone. This makes it impossible to take the original art works to the public in the way conventionalpaintings on canvas can be loaned to exhibitions and so travel around the continent. So how is rock-art to be made visible to the public, bothtoday and in the future? "Pitoti" is a pilot project that aims to find a solution to this problem. It is a collaboration between archaeologists, museum professionals andmedia technologists from the UK, Italy and Austria. The strategy is to use the cutting edge imagining technology of today to preserve andshow the images that have survived from our deep past. The exhibition uses the Europe's largest find of rock-art, as a spring board for developing techniques in the recording and display of rock-artthat will have relevance around Europe, since rock art can be found all over the continent from northern Scandinavia to southern Spain. The process of making this exhibition has a key advantage, since an exhibition is both a research tool AND a means of disseminating theresults of that work. The exhibition provides a practical focus for the dialogue between disciplines as diverse as archaeology, art history, film,acoustics, heritage management, photography and graphic design. This dialogue is then extended between different nations and language groups, the arts and the sciences, and finally between thoseconcerned with the hi-tech future and those interested in our European roots. The digital nature of the exhibition material makes the projectvery mobile and allows it to be circulated around the continent to museums and galleries. As a piece of electronic heritage management it willeasily have a long life on the internet, music and film festivals.

Resilients (RT) fosters cultural resilience by blending diverse European traditions with emerging arts & technologies, strengthened throughintercultural exchange of people, ideas & works. Resilients are cultural workers of all ages preparing for uncertain futures by studying &experimenting with new models of living & working as a form of artistic practice. RT consortium includes 2 artlabs, 3 artist-run organisations & an academic institution, from Austria, Belgium, Slovenia, Sweden & the UK,with their international networks. Each partner has a specific approach to resilience, adding value to RT's transnational collaboration. Theproject provides the partners with an opportunity to empower cultural workers to engage with Europe-wide cultural resilience, whilefunctioning as a compelling narrative to engage with diverse public contexts. RT has four primary motivations: to collect, create, share & support the development of resilient creative practices, that can contribute to thelong-term sustainability & prosperity of European culture. Current and historic models of resilient culture are collected in residencies & fieldtrips. These models are integrated with contemporary artistic forms, in five case studies - experiments with new materials, media &technologies in the context of endangered crafts, urban gardening, sustainable forestry, contemporary pilgrimage & future readiness. Theoretical reflections on collecting & creating, together with their practical applications are bundled in the "Resilients Handbook". For theduration of the project, the process & results of RT are shared at public events & online. Support of resilient creatives takes the form of workshops, gatherings, apprenticeships & meetings. These activities provide a stablefoundation for RT's long term vision: to form a transnational support infrastructure - ‘Guild of Resilients’ - a fellowship for learning,experimentation & reflection on atemporal, resilient creative practices.

„Romanistan. Crossing Spaces in Europe“ is an antiracist cultural cooperative project organised by Roma cultural associations in theEuropean Union and in cooperation with IG Kultur Österreich. The focus is the deexotification of Roma cultural work. It is essential thatcultural work by Roma cease to be defined by others as simply folklore or traditional culture and instead be recognised, supported andsustained as an emancipatory form of cultural work. The key goal is to take Roma cultural work out of isolation and create opportunities forparticipation and to clear space for Roma cultural work to become part of the European cultural landscape.This should happen without theattribution of Roma as an homogeneous group, which would lead again into the ethnic trap. In this project we literally walk through different rooms of the „House of Europe“ hoping to find and define a place. Starting with the “receptionhall”, where we base ourselves. Here we begin with workshops and debates within the different Roma communities and have a kick-offconference in Vienna.In the “kitchen” of the “House of Europe” and the “dining room” the artistic work is placed. 1.“Mapping Vienna. Barcelona. Berlin” internet intervention with interviews, videos, sound walks, acoustic images, blogs etc. 2. “Zukunftsmaschine” photo exhibition inpublic space. 3. Festival “Viva la Cultura Roma!” in Barcelona 4. Artists´Think Tank, workshops and artists activities in Berlin. 5. European Conference on Art in Barcelona. After that we proceed to the “library”: The scientific monitoring overall project, our “Satellites”, who observe the project from the start, givefeedback and their on the results. We will also enter the “TV-parlour” and watch the products: videos, websites, publications, CDs and DVDs. In the end we will “clean the rooms”. "TRY ANGLE" is a high end project for artistic research, aimed to the sustained growth of the artists involved. It's an international cross-disciplinary project, focused on the research and set-up of new collaborative practices among emerging and established European artists.Its aimed to reflect and reinvent the very idea of "art making" in our times, fostering new forms of collaboration, due to the unsual set-up inwhich it develops. It's a hands-on project, where artists learn by doing, devising new strategies as they go along the creative tryouts. We believe that artists learn with each other through out their artistic careers. Therefore, during the two weeks of each lab, we aim to isolatethem from their market-competetive environment into a fruitful collaborative one. The project is co-organized by three cultural organizations in France, Germany and Portugal and it will be developed with the collaboration ofassociated partners in Scandinavia, Turkey and the Balkan Region . The following activities are planned : 3 sets of 2 week research laboratories that will take place in France, Germany and Portugal on 2012,bringing together around 100 artists and cultural workers from all over Europe, the East Mediterranean and the Balkan region. From theseresearch labs, 3 artistic projects will be selected to be co-produced by the 3 project co-organizers and be presented in a small festival co-organized by the project partners, within the framework, and in partnership with Marseille-Provence 2013 - European Capital of Culture.Together with the final showing, a closing conference about the project will also be held. It also includes an innovative website that will use the most advanced social software platforms and internet rich multimedia applications, toprovide an extensive and intensive communication and documentation tool, both for professionals and audience, generating a lot ofknowledge outside the projects' boundaries.

Trois directeursartistiques et 33 musiciens solistes (11 par ensemble) posent les jalons européens d'un nouvel outil sonore: l'ECO combine la dimensionphilharmonique aux nouvelles technologies, les voix à la lutherie électronique et la ductilité d'un ensemble à une force de frappesymphonique. Destiné à stimuler l'imaginaire des compositeurs, des musiciens et du public, l'ECO ouvre une porte de sortie à la musique contemporaineactuelle - isolée au rang de dernière musique écoutée en Europe - en proposant un orchestre-laboratoire mobile, ouvert aux mélanges desgenres et investi d'une mission éducative. VIA VILLAS aims at raising awareness of villa architecture, which enrich not only cultural heritage of particular European regions, but alsoenable the understanding of the roots and inspirational role of this recent culture. The erudite experts of history of architecture, museums ofarchitecture, researchers, authors from Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary and Slovenia will work together on common project, includingstakeholders involvement. With the help of cooperation between 4 countries a research assessment study will be conducted in the firstphase, mapping the architectural, cultural-esthetic and built technical level of residential architecture as well as personality and design of thenarchitect, the role of constructor and the connection of architectural development and cultural social life in the country. The research study willbecome a basis for national concept development resulting in issued publications and organization of exhibitions, covering a comprehensiveand balanced set of architectural works of villas and residencies arisen in second half of the twentieth century in each of the participatedcountries. In parallel young architects from each country will develop the national concepts of 3D architectural scale-model and computer design of thevilla (4-8 together) following the preferences of both younger and older generation of particular country, meeting the theme of the Europeanyear 2012 Active Ageing & Intergenerational Solidarity. They will discuss their national projects, change ideas and work on common“European villa”, joining the attributes of all 4 nations during international workshop with senior professional lecturers from Europe. Moreyoung architects from other countries can be involved in the villa project. The travelling exhibition will be organized in each partner country, presenting the local project works and common project achievements of allcountries will be introduced at the final exhibition and conference in Brussels.

ARSCOPE is an experimental interdisciplinary project aiming to produce and disseminate artistic projects based on cooperation betweenartists and scientists. With focus on multimodal interaction tools such neural interfaces the results of the project will stimulate interculturaldialogue concerning the use of scientific tools outside of the laboratory. The overall impact of the project, besides involving / mobilizingvarious creative and research communities, will be in fostering innovative cultural production and its public reception. ARSCOPE aims to foster links between creativity and complexity while producing, showcasing and documenting best practices in the fieldwhere art meets biosciences. In this specifically designed cooperation project our overall objective is to initiate and later sustain a long-term multilateral collaborationacross the whole of Europe in domain of art-science cooperation. Such a common environment has not yet been shaped. In ARSCOPE we will connect interdisciplinary artistic excellence, cultural innovation and social relevance in the framework of experimentalcollaborative practices. We are bringing together artists, cultural operators, educators, scientists as well as policy makers to carry out anoriginal research, co-production and mobility project making it possible for the Europe-wide audiences to enter into an intercultural dialoguebetween art and science. ArtistTalk.eu is a collaborative initiative by three contemporary art and new media centers from Eastern and central Europe to establish aplatform for networking, education and exchange of new media and experimental art organisations on a European level. With focus on theimportance of education in new media and contemporary art practices, The ArtistTalk.eu platform will give artists and cultural workers theopportunity to disseminate their knowledge and ideas, increase their visibility and enhance understanding of contemporary and new mediaart. Each partner organisation will organize a series of 50 Artist talks with local and invited artists per year, the talks will be recorded an availableto wider public via ArtistTalk. internet platform. The project allows for creative input from each partner. On the long term, partners and futurepartners will develop new projects to create new strategies for the development of social projects through art initiatives, to underline thestrengths and weaknesses of the different cultural policies and artistic projects contributing to cultural policy development locally, nationally, regionally and at European level, etc. The project will focus on: 1) alternative modes of education Partner organisations will organise parallel activities, such as round tables, workshops and seminars, which will all be focusing on criticalinsight on contemporary and new media art. 2) international exchange Partner organisations will organise an ArtistTalk.eu symposiums in 2013, where the best artist talks from each countries will be presented.The symposium will focus on alternative modes of education, new terminology in art, etc. The output of the project will be a series of events, an internet database with all the talks and an audiovisual publication with transcriptions oftalks, dialogues, a research on the current and possible modes of alternative education in the field of art, a book with selected talks, aglossary of new terms in art.

EUROPA is a 24-months cultural action aimed at fostering the transnational mobility of artists, designers and creative practioners, (especiallythe younger). They are mobilized using a participatory approach for developing arts/urban interventions in 3 targeted EU territories featuredby different scale of urbanity and environment. The project promotes the diffusion, experience and circulation of novel site-specificinstallations, interventions and/or creative environment. The project workplan is made of 5 WPs encompassing fieldwork and experimentalcreative activities. WP1 focuses on exploring, investigating and surveying the targeted territories to collect and aggregate a critical mass ofknowledge and users' needs. This information will be exploited to develop visions and urban/arts interventions through workshops andcreative laboratories (WP2). While WP3 is centred on showcasing and events organisation to deliver to the society innovative creativeoutputs developed jointly in WP2. It includes exhibits, interventions in public spaces, conferences and social events. Outcomes areresearchinsights, project plans and actual installations. In order to network, disseminate and communicate with the targeted groups, WP4 is envisagedto orchestrate the plans, resources and opportunities for transferring and benchmarking experience with other organisations. The partners willpresent their findings at workshops, roundtables and exhibits in a EU context. Outreach is planned in the framework of 2012 EuropeanCapital of Culture in Maribor. There we will present the challenges and results achieved. Finally, WP5 ensures the project management. Thepartnership mobilizes 5 organisations from 4 EU countries (IT,CZ,SI,UK). It includes a Municipality, 2 private-no profit cultural organisationsand 1 higher-education partner expert in narrative environment. We want to join forces to explore how transdisciplinary artistic research andmethodologies can enrich the urbanity dimension.

United States of Europe (USE) is a travelling exhibition about diversity and identity, about unity in diversity. USE consists of three main project dimensions that will be presented in the public space and in museums: 1. Interpretations of multimedia, cyberculture, video and installation artists’ on European Identity that will be exhibited in the public space andin traditional exhibition venues. 2. Sociological study based on 5 different methods, conducted among different groups of young european people, whose results will also beexhibited in mentioned spaces above. 3. An interactive laboratory where the artistic and sociological parts come together. The laboratory is intended as ahybrid environment where people exchange and interact over time. The laboratory is also a part of the exhibition. With the USE project we create a platform for a transnational circulation of artworks as well as intercultural interaction and communication.The USE exhibition will tour to ten european cities. During this tour, USE will offer artist workshops and round table debates around thetheme of European identity. On the occasion of the main opening of the exhibition, calls for photography and storytelling will be launched forprofessional photographers and authors as well as for the wide audience. USE is led by a consortium of ten partners with different fields ofcompetence in culture. This team of partners is specially created for the initiation of USE. The partnership reflects diversity in terms ofgeography, seniority in the EU, political and historical background. The project is created out of a need to present a cultural project that addsnew, artistic perspectives to the debate about European identity and about the Europe we live in. USE wants to make many Europeans'voices heard. Listening to the people, will make them will listen back. This creates awareness, understanding and in the end commitment.

Cepatrimoine unique mais peu connu, mérite une réunion de ces représentants pour une meilleure mise en valeur artistique. - Favoriser les échanges de savoir-faire techniques, scénographiques et artistiques, entre les professionnels de chaque lieu en les faisant serencontrer in situ au cours de résidences animées par des experts (architectes, scénographes, artistes) sur les singularités du rond dans lespectacle vivant et les arts visuels. Une mise en pratique concrète de ces échanges professionnels se fera à travers un travail artistiquepilote et expérimental mené avec le metteur en scène Robert Lepage - Sensibiliser le plus grand nombre et notamment les jeunes. The aim of our project is to bring to the fore a less known aspect of the common European cultural treasure, European big band music, thathas already a 90-year-old tradition. With a very enthusiastic international team we’ll set up a database and library for the already existing pieces of this kind of jazz music, we’llorganise talent scout competitions for younger musicians and workshops/masterclasses for the “already established”, we’ll work out apractical big band curriculum for schools and a standard artistic system of evaluating big band ensembles and soloists (it will be adaptable tovarious countries’ systems), we’ll organise international competitions for composers and musical arrangers, and of course set up an „all stars”big band – and we’ll communicate all this to both the musical professionals and the wider public, in all the participating countries, through awide variety of media. International big band festivals will be highly visible anchor points of the programme. We intend to make the results of the projects durable (especially the library and the database), a first step upon which further cooperation inthe field of big band music can be developed.

Europe now is a project and cooperation between five theatres from five different countries in Europe. A large part of the inhabitants inSweden, Germany, Great Britain, Turkey and The Netherlands are foreign born or children to foreign born. Migrant groups live acrossnational borders and share certain experience and cultures. This "new" reality poses a number of intercultural challenges and possibilities fordevelopment in Europe the coming future. The aim of Europe Now is to develop new stories on our intercultural Europe. The stories, in theformat of theatre plays, will create tools for reflecting upon our societies and our common future. With Europe Now we want to reach a newurban and ethnical diverse target group, but also those who know less about interculturalism, and offer space for dialogue and discussion. Europe Now will: - Develop five new written plays on intercultural Europe by upcoming playwrights with diverse background. - Translate each play into at least two European languages for any interested cultural operator to produce. - Produce, perform and tour five new plays on intercultural Europe. - Create real and virtual space for discussions on Europe today. - Give space to, set future premises and suggest a model for intercultural exchange between cultural operators and the mobility of artists. Europe Now is a beginning of a common market with the Intercultural Europe as common interest, where we together increase thepossibilities of mobility of artists, productions and experience for the benefit of a growing intercultural audience living across our borders andfor the continued discussion on a united, socially sustainable Europe.

The main objective of this project is to create spaces for active and voluntary collaboration, linking creative people, artists and cultural agentsas well as scientific researchers and computer scientists in Europe. CATCH aims to expand and multiply exchanges in the dimension ofscientific knowledge, technological advances and artistic production by elaborating common experimental projects with an ambition to linkand integrate the world of artistic expression and the world of impairment and disabilities. We will achieve this by drawing upon specificexpressive potentialities and by favouring activities involving communication and exchanges in order to permit disadvantaged people to bebetter ‘human beings in the world’. We believe that human impairment, once peripheral, constitutes an emancipatory force that cannot beignored by any form of socio-cultural development. Therefore, our overall objective is to develop and reinforce the conceptual and methodological ties that form tight bonds between scientificresearch projects and advanced artistic practises by means of trans-disciplinarity and trans-sensoriality. In particular, we will focus onintegration of tactility, vision, hearing, spatial cognition, speech, communication and interactive gestural forms of expression withininterdisciplinary intercultural practices resulting in innovative artworks with high social relevance. In order to stimulate and catalyze creativity we will establish specific experimentation protocols that will accommodate workshops, meetings,seminars, performances, and exhibitions, We will produce events oriented toward a broad public with a vision to initiate long-termcollaborative creation projects in the field of handicap, These projects will link advanced research laboratories with creative young people inorder to showcase the interrelationships which exist between the universe of the disabled, contemporary experimental art and foundationalresearch.

Suburbanization is a dominant process in European cities today. The main goal of the project is tocreate tools based on results for sustainable development of cities through the means of art and culture. To solve suburban problemssuccessfully, it is important to cooperate on EU-wide level to share expert consultations from different institutions and different countries.Project is based on a long-term cooperation among project partners and knowledge distribution in cross-sectoral and cross-generational way.Project will provide 5 actions of acupunctural character in each of partner cities whereas it will take an inspiration from other similarsuccessful projects. 5 actions in 6 cities (together 30) will be held. Each action will be specific for certain type of suburb and will involvedifferent fields (artists, actors, architects, sociologists.) in conferences, symposia, workshops and art interventions in partner cities. The mainobjectives are to offer recreational activities and to stimulate socializing; implement integrated urban and regional development strategy;attract new audiences to arts. The results became an instruction for other cities inhabitants how to improve the quality of their cityenvironment in a cultural way. During the project implementation the communication with inhabitants and city representatives will playimportant role. Our goal is to promote the transnational mobility of people working in this field and to involve people with differentbackgrounds in searching for best solution about this problem. The best outcome is guaranteed by cultural cooperation between artists,inhabitants, administrations, experts.

Family Music -Program toenhanceClassical MusicEducation alongthe EuropeanMozart Ways

The focus of the project is on classical music education. First part is a classical music competition for amateur (familiy/private) ensemblesimplemented by the DMG in Augsburg/DE in May 2012. The competition will be promoted by the applicant, the EMW, with the logistic supportof 45 EMW member institutions in AT, DE, CH, CZ, FR, GR, IT, SK, UK. With the exception of Greece, all the EMW members are situatedalong the "European Mozart Ways" certified as a "Major Cultural Route" by the "Council of Europe". The competition will be held on EU level with international participation and dissemination in all the EMW countries. Therefore, the promotionwill be implemented in steps: The EMW will inform online and by the press the target group (families interested in classical music, privateensembles) in all the EMW member countries. At least, 10 selected EMW-members from 4 or more countries will implement local culturalevents to publicise the project on the regional and national level and offer logistic/financial support to prospective participants. As aframework program for these events, the Italian co-organiser will prepare an innovative stage play thematising Mozart's music education,work and life. This play will be performed at least 15 times in combination with local cultural events of the EMW members. The results of thecompetition will be disseminated by the press, on the radio, on CD/DVD and online (YouTube, Facebook©, EMW web portal). The 2nd part of the project points on classical music education for children/young musicians in general. The project will integrate newcontacts among the responsible persons of the consortium and their networks (i.e. the member institutions of EMW and DMG, theinternational academic relations of GNC) to collect and support best practice in the field of classical music education and to promote theseeducational initiatives on a new online platform accessible through www.mozartways.com, the well-established web portal of the EMW.

EUtropia –Mobility for anopen Dialogueof ArtisticLanguages

Having as a starting point the creation of a performance that travels from country to country and continuously evolves, about 250 youngartists that live in 9 different European countries, collaborate by posing an open dialogue in performing, visual and audiovisual arts. Throughthis procedure, they contribute in the creation of a new shared expressive language that is based on the cultural heritage and moderninfluences of each, while bridging traditional and contemporary aesthetics. The project begins with a series of creative workshops with a common theme and goal. Young artists from diverse cultural and socialbackgrounds, approach the same work with different means, having as only starting point the various aesthetics and expressive languages. Ateam of professional managers, facilitators and artists will support and provide them with the necessary tools to achieve a supplementarycollaboration between the variety of art forms and a harmonious coexistence between the diverse disciplines. The result of these workshops is a collective creation of high quality: a multidisciplinary performance that journeys around Europe andcollects new stimuli, widening the horizons of expressions and establishing a field where rock, pop, modern, classic, traditional, hip-hop,fusion, ethnic, jazz, expressionism, realism, music, drama, dance and visual arts, are bound in an unconstrained composition.

Opera is a collective European heritage as well as a key living art. This art form is part of our common culture since its birth, in the early 17thcentury, when the renewed interest towards classical tragedy led to experiment something totally new. In the music field, it is increasingly difficult for cultural organisers, and theatres in particular, to built programmes ensuring high-qualityproductions. This particularly concerns opera: a complex and expensive art form, involving many artists and professionals, yet one of thehighest expression of European culture and creativity, recognised and loved worldwide. By the combined effort of a group of European cultural institutions, with different strengths and backgrounds, working closely together, theproject aims to develop an innovative, international model of operatic production, testing it on a beautiful but forgotten opera by C.W. Gluck. The project assumes that a flexible, cost-efficient production model - designed to be easily adapted to different venues and even to site-specific situations - meets a strong potential demand throughout Europe, makes high-quality opera more affordable by cultural organisersand accessible to the public, and is crucial to the future of this extraordinary art form. In a way, TAO! intends to develop high-end "ready-to-perform" productions, as distinct from "bespoke" productions tailored to a particulartheatre's frame, believing that it will be increasingly prohibitive, even for major theatres, to embark in several new high-quality productions, forjust a few performances.

EUROPEUNSTABLE:ISLANDS INTHE NET

Nowadays in Europe, everything is subject to change, to mobility, to the exchange of people, concepts and products, to the point that we findourselves facing the dissolution of the borders in time and space that traditionally characterized the old continent. In this context, it isnecessary to emphasize the importance of mobility for the development of a common European identity on which political, economic andsocial integration are founded. These ideas are the basis of our proposed project. Basically the long term aim of our project is the creation of a European Network of Theatres and dance and theatre Companies (Islands onthe neetwork)to promote the mobility of professionals and set an alternative theatre & dance programme in order to break spatial boundariesusing the perspective of new dramaturgical tendencies. We want our project to be the beginning of a European database of related theatres,art spaces and companies that share information, artistic aspirations, professionals and infrastructures taking the body as the engine of theperformances. To achieve these objectives we have designed different activities: Firstly, we wish to put together a series of four productions based around the theme of "identity" that later will tour the other participatingcountries. Following completion of the tours, we plan to organise a festival in Valencia where all the participating shows will be performed.Throughout the project, before each production and in each host country an external professional will run a workshop which will be attendedby the directors of all four performances, and to which local theatre school students will be invited. Based around the general theme ofidentity, the workshops will aim to find a common artistic language between the four directors. In addition, the project will have its ownwebsite and we also plan to launch a magazine covering the project's activities and reporting on the performing arts in Europe.

Take Five: Europe is a new professional development project designed to provide 20 of the most talented young jazz musicians in Europe theunique opportunity to take ‘time out’ to develop their craft and industry knowledge. The project is aimed at innovative composers,instrumentalists and vocalists who are interested in developing significant national and international careers, expand their trans-nationalnetworks and gain greater awareness of opportunities across Europe. Two artists from each partner country will be chosen to participate each year. Artist selection will be comprehensive process involvingleading practitioners from all partner countries, and will include consideration of creativity, style of music, influences, education, geography,cultural background, future potential, availability and distinctive contribution to the wider music community in Europe. The project will provide the artists with a unique opportunity to strengthen all aspects of their future by participating in a week-long residencywhere they will be immersed in creative and business sessions. The most successful artistic collaborations created will then be showcased to public audiences at high profile festivals across Europe,including North Sea Jazz Festival in the Netherlands, Jazz sous les Pommiers/Banlieues Bleues in France, Molde Jazz Festival in Norway,Jazztopad in Poland and the London Jazz Festival in GB. Furthermore, the whole project will be documented by a ‘writer-in-residence’. The outcomes from the project will be shared across wider audiences through resources created online and through panel discussions andnetworking events produced by each of the co-organisers. Artists selected for Take five: Europe will have a formal association with the programme for a 12 month period, but there will be a muchlonger lasting legacy through the connections they will make and through the strength of the consortium of co-organisers assembled toproduce the project.
